Story
Sweet Harley needs a family! This 8 year old, 15 lb girl was originally adopted from Starfish as a pup, but in a very sad turn of events, her owner has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and we need to find a new home for her. She is a darling who loves to get cuddles from her people and would absolutely adore being home with you all day. She is good with other dogs but she will chase cats so we suggest a home with no cats. She is housebroken and LOVES car rides! She will make a fantastic co pilot. If you can open your heart to this sweet girl, please complete an application ASAP.  If you are interested in adopting/meeting , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! The adoption fee of $250 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 4, 2024, 1:48 pm

Story
Meet Tripper, the Pomsky with a heart as sweet as honey! At 8 years old and weighing 45 pounds, this charming lady has an incredible story to tell. Tripper, a loving mother who once raised the most enchanting pups known as "The Beatles litter," ensured they all found their forever homes. Now, it's her turn to find a loving forever family. Tripper is the embodiment of sweetness. Her love knows no bounds, and her warm heart is open to everyone she meets, with a special soft spot for kids. This happy-go-lucky pup is perpetually adorned with a heartwarming smile. Tripper's zest for life is evident in her love for walks, car rides, and making new friends. She's not only house-trained and crate-trained, but also adapts beautifully to being left to roam freely. Tripper is a sociable soul and gets along well with other dogs. However, it's worth noting that she's not a fan of feline friends. Though Tripper has diabetes, it's no obstacle to offering her a loving home. Giving her insulin shots is a small price to pay for the boundless affection and joy she'll bring into your life. Tripper is a testament to resilience, love, and the unwavering sweetness of a dog's heart. Give her a chance, and you'll find a loyal companion ready to light up your world with love and smiles. Her minimum adoption fee is $145 plus a $15 fee for rabies registration for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
Hello, my name is Ruby, and I am about 2 years old. As you can tell by my pictures, I'm a cutie. I'm a quiet girl and like to lay by your feet. I guess you stay I'm stubborn at times (hello my breeding?) so if I don't like to do something I put on the brakes and I will talk back to you. I guess you can also say I need a Leader or Coach to teach me that I'm not in charge - you are. That's what my foster Mom is doing for me right now. I'm in a foster home with other dogs & cats and I am ok with them. The big dogs at first, I was nervous. I hid under a chair, but my foster Mom would assure me I am ok. I don't like when other dogs or even people get in my face. Sure, my face is adorable but who likes to have someone right in their face? Not me. So, I have learned that I am ok when another dog does it and we both get corrected. If I could pick my perfect home, it would have many one other dog who I can learn from. That's what I'm also learning in my foster home. I'm learning a routine of when we go outside, when we get our food (more on that) and when it's time to go to bed. I'm house trained but I don't tell you have I have to go outside to do my business. I love going for car rides but sometimes I need help being picked up. For this, my foster Mom scoops me up under my belly. See, my belly is quite big. Remember the note on food - well I like food! I'm not aggressive but in my last home I got fed a lot and I am quite chubby. Actually, the Vet said I'm obese. I don't understand that word but my foster Mom does so she limits me on how much I can eat. I would benefit from being walked every day and I do walk well on my leash. I weigh 20#s and vet said I should be around 9-12#s. My new family has a challenge! You need to lose weight? We can be fitness partners. I'm a young gal that sadly was not told the word NO. So, when I don't want to do something, I will talk back to you. I need someone who can be my Leader or Coach and correct me with my bad behaviors. I like to please people and love to be told I'm a good girl. My chubby little body will waddle and wiggle because I love praise! I might do well in an apartment dwelling but not sure about kids. Remember the note on me liking things in my face? Well, little kids have fingers that can go in my face. Maybe you can have kids that visit and I'm quite fine hanging out in another room on my doggie bed or a couch. So, what do you think? Looking for a walking buddy? I have a lifetime ahead of me that is filled with love. I can't wait for our journey to begin! xoxo, Ruby Rubyis located in our foster home in Aurora.
