Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/. Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance from Ridley, PA for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit. Meet Dot! Dot is a 14-year-old, 13 lb., Pomeranian who was surrendered when her owner passed away. She was suffering from Lyme disease and an infection from ticks. It was time for a new beginning. Dot came into rescue and fit right in at her foster home. She was spayed, has some masses removed, and received medications for the Lyme disease and tick infection. Dot is fully potty trained and gets along well with dogs, cats, and kids. She has good hearing but is partially blind. She walks well on a leash, handles stairs, and loves to be picked up and cuddled. Dot’s foster home is very busy and she has no trouble handling the chaos. Dot loves her people, but will bark at strangers. Her ideal home would not have new people coming in all the time.  If you need a couch cuddle buddy, then Dot is the right dog for you. She insists on belly rubs after breakfast and loves being scratched and loved on. Dot really enjoys walks, car rides, and basking in the sun. She also loves playing with toys. If you need a whole lot of love in a small package, please apply today!

Story
We prefer adopters to be within 1 hour drive of Delaware 19703 area. Meet Jarvis. Jarvis was adopted in 2015 to a family that said they could & would give him a forever home. Things changed, and they could no longer take care of Jarvis, and Jarvis ended back into rescue. Even though he seems to be having a blast, we need to find him a home that will provide him a loving forever home! Jarvis is about 16 pounds which is small to most people but he’s in a foster home with mostly chihuahuas not weighing more than 10 pounds. His foster mom describes him as a big dog in a small dogs body. Jarvis is a good boy that has lots of energy so it’s important to know he will need walks, running and playing with another dog or fetch with his human. Jarvis has met many dogs in foster care and has done super well. Jarvis does not do well meeting new people and is very protective of his home so we are looking for an adopter that can handle this and work with Jarvis so he learns he doesn’t need to be the protector, his human will protect him instead. Jarvis is updated on vaccines, was neutered & chipped too. If you think you got what it takes please email AOLanimalrescue@gmail.com and request an application. His cuteness is a bonus!

Story
Applicants need to be within 1 hour drive from Claymont, DE 19703. Noah was surrendered to AOL Animal Rescue when his previous family could no longer care for him. Noah is 7 years old and they had him since he was a puppy. Noah was so shy, scared and quiet his first week or so in his foster home. Noah is no longer any of those, especially quiet. This guy has a lot to say, and if you tell him you don’t want to hear it, he insists you hear him. Noah was previously an only dog so it took him time to adjust to the others. Noah could happily live with another dog, depending on the other dog’s personality and who else lives in the home. Noah is high maintenance when it comes to attention so we want to make sure he is able to get his needs met. He just started getting some Zoomies with other dogs, this took 4 months! He did get the zoomies early on when it was just him and foster mom in the back yard so he is happy when it’s all about him. Noah is now crate trained, although he doesn’t appreciate being crated unless he has had the opportunity to use up some of his energy, which he has a lot of! Noah could live with a cat that will stand up for itself and not run away. Nosh would challenge a cat but he certainly would chase them if they run. Noah is very vocal riding in the car, barking at everyone and everything. Foster mom is going to take him out in the car but in a covered kennel/ crate to see if he less anxious. His last ride in the car he reverted back to being very nervous, so he may not ever be too comfy in car rides, but he may get better. As scared as he was in the beginning, he never showed any aggression. Noah enjoys pushing on squeak toys with his nose to make them squeak, and he also enjoys having something to chew while in his crate. He LOVES going on walks, and he eats his dog food with no issues. He’s a good boy. If you’re interested in meeting Noah, just email or call us and we will send out an application. His videos will be on our YouTube page later today too. Story
Bree is being fostered in NJ. Her name is Bree but you could also call her Little Miss Perfect! Bree, Bree The cutest dog who cannot see Soft and furry is her coat When on your lap, you will surely dote She dreams of her own forever family For your love and loyalty she does plea Yes, Bree loves poetry! She also loves snuggles, treats, sniffing around the yard, and squeaky toys. Bree was an only dog for most of her life. Then she arrived at our crazy home and had to adjust to sharing everything with the other dogs. She is now a well-mannered, affectionate, friendly little gal. Bree adjusted to her foster home with no problem and immediately found her way around. She makes a cute low grumbling sound when she needs to go outside or wants the water bowl filled up. Just don't bother her when she is eating - she is very serious about meal time! Bree has the playfulness of a puppy - if you bring Bree into your family, have plenty of squeaky toys on hand. She loves to destroy them to get the squeaker out! Bree is also happy to sit on your lap or next to you as you relax. She enjoys "watching" TV and is a big Phillies fan. Her favorite player is Brandon Marsh - Bree likes his long beard. She is also an excellent car rider. Bree knows to "sit" when receiving a treat. And she does expect a treat when she comes back inside from going potty. Bree mostly sleeps in her own dog bed at night, but will sometimes want to sleep in the bed next to someone. As with any blind dog, Bree can be startled by a sudden noise or touch. She would do best with older children (over age 6). She needs to be introduced slowly to other dogs. Bree prefers a private dining experience. Even though Bree is a senior dog, she has plenty of playful years ahead of her and will be a joy to any family who adopts her. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

TATER TOT Male Pomeranian 6-8 years old Good with smaller dogs (he is dog selective) Not recommended with cats Not recommended with kids Appropriate for city living: No Meet Tater Tot Tater Tot is a middle-aged Pomeranian who walks a little wonky but has lots of love to give. Tater Tot was allegedly hit by a car and unable to walk. After a few days at Metropolitan Veterinary Associates, with good care, pain meds and lots of love, he started to recover. Bit by bit, day by day, he got better. He had no injuries consistent with being hit by a car and an MRI did not indicate any breaks but did confirm some changes in a few of his discs. None of this slows him down a bit! He loves to run even if it looks a bit wobbly! Tater takes a while to warm up to new people but once he loves you, he loves you with his whole heart. Tater Tot is going to need an extra special, patient family. He will be added to the website soon, but you can still submit an application at www.findingshelter.org. Story
Stop, look, listen! Ransom is adorable! But he is only available to someone who has extensive experience with dogs who have Ransom's behavior issues. Yes, he's as soft as a stuffed toy and just as cute and is a very smart, affectionate little guy. But he's quirky. Originally aged at 12 years old by the shelter where he was turned in as a stray, we agree with our vet team that he’s more likely about 8 years old. Ransom loves to keep watch over the neighborhood as much as he loves being cuddled. He’ll use his paw to pull your hand to his face to stroke him. We initially thought he needed to be an only pet but since he was neutered, he is doing much better. We have taken things very slowly with him and the other dogs here. When he first met the other dogs, he was territorial and showed resource guarding towards humans. We have worked with him and he has made great progress. He learns quickly and really wants to please. He knows sit, wait, watch, and come, walks nicely on the leash and is perfectly crate and house trained. Ransom needs a very special adopter. Please read our Senior Moments post to learn about him: https://www.flfosenioranimals.org/post/ransom-notes FLFO requires a home visit therefore adopters must be within 40 miles of Baldwin MD. Thank you for understanding.
