Story
This little gal is Mama Mia; a timid, cuddly, and sweet soul. Mama Mia is a 3-year-old, 12 lb. chihuahua. She came to CAWS in February and gave birth to 4 healthy babies. After being a great mom, all of her puppies have been adopted and now it's her turn! Mia gets along fine with most other dogs, but she's not really interested in playing with other pups. She's more interested in being with her person. Mia loves nothing more than cuddling up under warm blankets. We don't know much about her backstory, but even after 6 months in foster care, she is still quite shy and still working on building her confidence. She will need a patient and gentle adoptor to help her feel safe and comfortable. Mia relies on her bark to defend herself from new things and new situations. Big and fast movements terrify her too, so small children are not a good fit for her forever home. Despite her initial timid demeanor, once she trusts you, she'll be yours forever. Mia's loving personality and gentle spirit will make her a wonderful addition to a mature household. She is crate trained and mostly house trained. With a little patience and a lot of love, Mia will be the best friend you've ever had!Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-served basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. ALL CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200. Story
Meet Fauna, a 12.3-pound bundle of love, fun, and black-and-tan cuteness! At just 1.5 years old, this little Chihuahua mix has already proven that she’s a total gem. Rescued from a high-kill shelter, Fauna has left her tough beginnings behind and is ready to take her rightful place as the queen of your heart (and your couch!).Fauna is the life of the party when it comes to her four-legged friends. She gets along with dogs of all shapes and sizes, though her current foster siblings are more “nap squad” than “play crew.” Fauna would absolutely LOVE a playful dog sibling to wrestle, romp, and share toys with. Until then, she’s content practicing her zoomies and toy skills solo, so she needs a fenced yard to play in.Cuddle time is Fauna’s specialty! She’s a champion snuggler who’s just as happy napping on your lap as she is curling up at the end of your bed or couch. She’ll even give you the sweetest kisses and gently “groom” you like the little lovebug she is. And when it’s time for work? Fauna is a dream WFH assistant—quiet, polite, and happy to keep you company while you conquer your day.House-trained and crate-trained, Fauna is a star student in the “good girl” department. She’s even working on tackling her fear of stairs (they’re tricky, okay?) and walks nicely on a leash. Rarely barking, Fauna’s communication style is a soft little whine when she needs some attention—not clingy, just adorable.Fauna is looking for a forever home with plenty of love, snuggles, a playful dog buddy if possible and a secured yard. She dreams of a family who will make her feel safe, cherished, and ready to explore the wonderful life ahead of her. She's young so she's happy to explore by putting everything left out in her mouth to chew on. Don’t miss out on the chance to meet this incredible little girl—she’s ready to bring her joy and magic into your life. Apply now for a meet-and-greet with Fauna, your new best friend!Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Story
Meet Bud, the resilient and charming 9.5-year-old Chihuahua mix with a heart of gold and a few adorable quirks. At just 10 pounds, this white and tan little gentleman may have some special needs, but he doesn’t let them slow him down. Despite being diabetic and nearly blind, Bud is thriving on his twice-daily insulin shots (Novolin N, an affordable $25 from Walmart) and prescription WD dog food. He’s proof that with a little extra care, life can still be full of joy and cuddles!Bud is a pro at navigating his environment, memorizing the layout of his foster home and backyard like a champ. He gets along well with other dogs, though slow introductions are a must so he can learn their scents and feel comfortable. This little guy is crate-trained, house-trained (as long as he’s let out regularly), and sleeps soundly through the night. If he does get up for a midnight wander, it’s usually just to stretch his legs or let you know it’s potty time. One of Bud’s favorite pastimes? Snuggling up on the couch for cuddles and giving kisses. He’ll let you know when it’s time to hop down, adding to his endearing personality. He’s the perfect balance of affectionate and independent, making him a wonderful companion for a family who can provide him with the stability he needs.Bud is looking for a calm, kid-free (under 10) home with a backyard where he can roam and explore safely. His ideal family will be committed to his care routine, providing him with his insulin shots, prescription food, and the love he so deserves. In return, Bud promises unconditional loyalty, endless snuggles, and years of companionship. If you’re ready to welcome this amazing little man into your life, fill out an application to meet Bud.
