Ernie is officially available for adoption! -10yo, long haired chihuahua & 13lbs -Neutered, vax’d, chipped & hw neg -Dog, cat and people friendly -Crate and potty trained -Tripod -Sweet, loving boy -Very low energy Ernie was found as a stray in Seagoville along with his brother Bert and brought to the shelter. Ernie was chipped, but owners hung up when the shelter contacted them. Unfortunately, we realized soon after picking them up that Bert was hospice and did not have very long. Ernie has adapted well since loosing Bert. Ernie would do well in a home with other dogs, but equally happy as an only dog. He would be great for a senior (the rescue has a senior program too)! He got a dental, benign masses removed and his leg amputated and has adjusted very well! Ernie is a true couch potato & loves sleeping and lounging the entire day! Hi! I'm Tara! I am a female Chihuahua adult that weighs around 11 Lbs. I was found off of Lynne Dr. in Rockwall on 03/03/25 and never reclaimed. So now, I am available for adoption and hoping to find my furever home soon. I am shy at first, but I do warm up, you just have to sit with me for a moment to let me check everything out. Being that I came in stray and am such a tiny gal, it's understandable that I can be anxious in a strange environment around strangers. Since I am still new to the crew at the shelter, stay tuned for updates as they get to know me better. If you have another dog in the home a meet and greet is encouraged prior to adoption and taking me home. My adoption fee is $125. I am spayed, microchipped, current on my rabies vaccination, boosters to date and heartworm negative. If you are interested in adopting me, please complete an online adoption application on our website at https://rockwalladoptions.com/our-pets/available-dogs/. Once submitted, RAC staff will be in touch with next steps.  All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX. IMPORTANT NOTICE: All shelter animals are required by Texas state law to be spayed/neutered. RAC completes this procedure at the age of 12 weeks. If you are adopting a pet under the age of 12 weeks or an animal that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will be required to return the pet to our facility on the agreed upon date set at the time of adoption.
