Come meet Ally and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (Nov. 17th) from 12-3 pm at the Petsmart in Falls Church (6100 Arlington Blvd, Falls Church, VA 22044)! Name: Ally Best Guess for Breed: Pointer and Beagle mix Best Guess for Age: 5 years as of June 2024 Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 31.2 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven’t seen Ally with cats, but she can be tested! Ally has interacted with younger children and done well with them. Currently Living At: DC area foster home. Special Adoption Considerations: Ally is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months. What My Foster Says About Me: She has done very well with both crate and potty training and walks well on leash. She knows how to go into her crate by herself when she wants her alone time. Right now she lives with two dogs a large 50 pound dog and a small 20 pound dog and does well with both of them. On walks doesn’t mind the dogs that are walking next to her. While at my daughter’s house last week, she was with a 6 and 9 year old, and did perfectly without any incidents and loves to kiss. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
