Story
Meet our active, happy boy Loki!! Loki is a male pointer mix around 3-4 years old. He is incredibly toy driven and loves playing fetch or running around the yard on his own chasing a ball. Loki was rescued in 2022 when a family member was discovered to be deathly allergic to dogs. Loki is good with people and has an extremely high prey drive so he would do best in a home with no other animals.

Story
Rocky has been a long stay in boarding while we got this little chowder head to focus. Apparently his live had started with best guess, young boys, because his exuberance was over the top. We have finally gotten him under control. Other dogs still correct him at times because he just can't get that meet & greet scenario down pat, again exuberance. He is a very loving dog and would love the opportunity to live with someone who loves the outdoors and hiking. Sorry no apartments for this boy.

12 weeks & 14bs (as of 2/6), Pointer/Aussie Mix, Spayed Expected Full Grown Size About 50lbs This is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Thier Foster Parent Says: "Zebra is an amazzzinggg amazing pup and we've absolutely fallen in love! We are continually shocked by how intelligent she is -- she picked up 'sit' within 3 tries, and 'paw' within 15 minutes! She's a huge cuddle bug and absolutely loves watching TV - it's actually pretty crazy how alert and attuned she seems to be when watching a movie. She sits up and looks directly at the screen and cocks her head as things happen. I've never seen such an attention span on a dog and it's actually so cool! She makes an even better movie watching partner when you factor in how soft her fur is. When she's not cuddling, she's wandering around looking for mirrors to stare at herself in (makes total sense given how she cute is lol- she definitely makes a pretty picture!).She loves walking, being outside and meeting new people, which is great because everyone on the street stops and wows at how cute and adorable she is! Seriously, walks take another 15+ minutes when you account for all the attention she gets. She's very friendly, high energy and the total full-on puppy package. She's still working on potty training, but with her brains we know it'll just be a matter of time!" Level of dog ownership experience needed:INTERMEDIATE: As an adult, this dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Relevant puppy care experience is a huge plus, but bare minimum the adopter must have TONS of time and patience. Raising a puppy can be a lot of fun, but it’s also  tremendous work. Puppies’ personalities and exercise/stimulation requirements change dramatically between now and when they’re a year old as their bodies and brains develop, so an active lifestyle and the ability to adapt to a pup’s evolving needs are a must. We strongly urge professional dog training with a rewards based trainer from the get go. Adults only or kids ages 8 and up – all puppies go through a mouthy, rambunctious phase and often accidentally hurt children when playing. PLEASE DO YOUR OWN BREED RESEARCH to make sure you have a better understanding of the kind of temperament and exercise requirements this dog may have as an adult. Energy levelMEDIUM: Very young puppies sleep and nap a lot, but their energy level skyrockets when they become teens (4 months to around a year). As an adult, this dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day at a minimum. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  cuddle bug level - high comfy with strangers - loves people! Potty trained?Working on this skill. Puppies under 12 weeks old are often on track with their wee pad skills, but they’re too young to walk outside in public NYC areas yet because they haven’t finished their puppy vaccine series. Puppies older than 12 weeks are usually learning to do their business outside. Potty training takes a lot of patience, consistency, and clean up.  Crate trained?Nope. None of our new puppies have been formally trained, but many of our foster parents/adopters choose to crate train. It can be a great way to keep puppies safe and teach them independence. Social with dogs?Yes. Some puppies are shy, others are bold, but all have the potential to be taught healthy socializing skills. It’s a huge part of raising a puppy and must be done carefully. How they interact with other dogs depends largely on how their humans help them learn to.  Social with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)Yes… but most puppies are not a great match for a home with kids under age 8 because they go through intense mouthy play and rambunctious phases and often accidentally hurt young kids while playing. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age respectfully.   Social with cats?Yes. Almost all puppies have the potential to be friends with a cat. It’s on the adopter to know their cat’s temperament and preferences and to teach their puppy respectful manners.  Mouthy play: High! All puppies go through phases where they chew your stuff and grab your hands, arms, feet… puppies naturally explore the world, play, and test boundaries with their mouths. (It also happens when they’re teething.) Their teeth are super sharp though, so it can be a very painful phase for humans and other animals in the home. Proper training, outlets, and socialization are key. Leash manners:Getting better at it everyday!  Separation anxiety:MEDIUM: Most puppies have some level of separation anxiety as they learn to self soothe. Often they cry the first 10+ minutes when they are left home alone or in a crate. Consistent training and alone time is crucial. okay in the city - yes, unfazed jumping on people to say hi - high crate training - yes (working on it) Medical status:Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP and Bordetella vaccines (for dogs under 4 months old, adopters will need to finish the DHPP vaccine series and administer the Rabies vaccine at 16 weeks of age), spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer uponHow this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee or St. Thomas. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. Story
Erin is SO affectionate! She has the cutest face and long ears! She's very sweet, polite and a gentle 8-month-old girl. She truly loves humans, is so very trusting, and her love language is physical touch! Erin is a professional hugger! She will nestle her head into you. She is being fostered in Manhattan, New York with family of 4, parents and 2 kids ( 6 and 9 year old), and one furry sister. Erin loves going for walks to Central Park and exploring the city. She loves playing and having fun with her foster sister Luna. She is fine crated when necessary, but would much prefer to have her humans around. Erin is a social butterfly and is happy and polite meeting new people, recieving pats, and giving her special hugs to anyone who is willing! She is also very smart, so adopter who would take her to agility classes would be amazing. Erin is house trained, up to date on all vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, 4dx tested: negative for heart worm, currently on flea/tick/heart worm prevention and dewormed. If you feel you would be the right fit for Erin, please fill out an adoption application or email us and we’ll happily get back to you.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Bogey (MS) is a male Pointer mix estimated to be 1.5 years old at the time of intake in July 2024. Bogey is up to date on core vaccinations and is microchipped. He will be neutered prior to joining his forever home unless  there is a medical reason why it has not yet been completed (in which case RDR NYC will work with the adopter to ensure this is done at the appropriate time). Bogey is good with people and other dogs. This big, goofy, silly mush of a dog loves to be wherever his people are. He  adores every dog he’s ever met--big ones, little ones, even the ones who wish he would go away! Bogey is not a fan of being crated but hasn't destroyed anything (except for stealing food) while roaming free. This handsome, fabulous boy is looking for his happy ever after with his forever family. If Bogey's path to happiness leads to your front door, please apply online to adopt Bogey (MS) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org. Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here.
