Story
When I was born, I assure you I didn't want to grow up to be left in a high kill shelter, however, that is what happened to me. LUCKILY, the fates (and some awesome rescue folks) aligned and saved me from certain death and brought me to a safe place where I can find a REAL family and a REAL home. Let me tell you about myself, I am cute, happy, loving, nervous at times, but have the long legs of a pointer! I have lots of energy for running, jumping and playing and I have the handsome chiseled jaw that most actors would love to have! Now if you need a great looking chap, look my way!!! ADOPT...........DON'T SHOP!!! My LIFE depends on it!!! LOcal adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area)

Story
Meet Ruby, your new best girl! Ruby is a sweet and loving 7-year-old Pointer mix who's ready to find a new forever home. Despite being abandoned at a shelter by her previous adopter, Ruby is a gentle spirit with a heart full of love looking for a family to provide the stability and affection she truly deserves. Ruby loves to be outside on walks or playtime in the yard. She's good on a leash, quiet in her crate, and knows sit/stay/paw. Ruby would be best in a home without young children. This beautiful girl has been through a lot, but she's ready to open her heart again to the right family. Could that be you? Apply today to give Ruby the loving home she's waiting for. Ruby is fostered in the Cincinnati area. Her adoption fee is $275.00. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Here's a face sure to melt your heart. MIA is a sweet gentle girl looking for a home. She's a 3 year old medium-sized mixed breed pup. Our best guess is some English Pointer, Beagle and heaven only knows what else. Mia came to us as an owner surrender through no fault of her own, her mom became homeless. Prior to that she spent life at the end of a chain in miserable conditions. Mia is timid in new situations but warms up to kindness and loves to be close to her people. Mia is a gem of a dog, low key and sweet, dog and cat friendly, housebroken and crate trained. She has lovely leash manners. Mia loves her squeaky toys and cuddles. She's more timid with men but responds well to kindness. She is currently a bit chonky at 40 pounds, ideally she should be 35 pounds. She has a soft medium length coat. Mia is best suited to a home with another friendly dog who can show her the ropes and help her navigate her new life. If you'd like to meet Mia, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. You can meet Mia at our weekly adoption event Saturday noon-2 at PetSmart Eastgate. All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoptable dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed and current on flea and tick and heartworm prevention. Story
Meet Trenton! This good boy is the whole package! He is a mixed breed, best guess English pointer/boxer mix, and no one breed is evident. He is 2-year-old medium sized (55 pound) love bug who is gentle and adores kids. He is house trained. It does not appear he has been taught basic commands, but he should be a quick learner as he learned the doggy door ropes in a single day. The crate is not his favorite. He will go in when bribed with delicious treats and sleep quietly through the night. He mimics the vibe of the house by playing when we are active and snuggling on couch when we are quiet. He also gets along with other dogs, playing or backing off at the appropriate times. As he has settled into his foster home, he has started wrestling with the alpha dog of the house. Trenton deserves someone who will shower him with attention, car rides and rounds of fetch. He is everyone’s best friend, can he be yours? Trenton is neutered and up to date on all vaccines, flea and heartworm medication.

Story
Miss Oreo is ready to find her furever home!  - She’s a pointer mix, about a year to a year and a half old, spayed, and UTD on all vaccines and preventatives.  - She’s a big sweetheart, the best cuddler, loves to sit on my lap while I work, and loves to play! Plus look at the way she crosses those adorable spotted paws!! Such a lady.  - Her breed is known for their high energy and being a working dog. They are also known as bird dogs, so have great focus and make a great hunting partner.  - She does best when she gets a long walk or training session in each day.  - She knows basic commands (sit, paw, leave it, stay, etc.) but is still working on recall and walking on a leash. She is house trained! She is very smart and could learn anything you put the time into!  - She needs a securely fenced in yard as she likes to run, and thinks catching her is a game.  - She would be PERFECT for someone with land, someone looking for a hunting partner, a frisbee partner, a running partner, or looking to train in agility courses!  - She enjoys coming to the barn with me, so is fairly used to being around horses and other barn animals.  - She is not good with other dogs, and would do best in a one pet home -  at least for now. When we first rescued her she was aggressive towards our dogs, and it took us about a week to get them in the same room. They get along well now, but she plays rough.  - She isn’t great with little kids either because of her rough play, but nothing intentionally aggressive.  Please share to help us find Oreo the perfect home and best life that she deserves! All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.   February 17, 2025, 8:17 pm
