Story
Hello! My name is Sasha and I am about 4 years old. I'm not quite sure what I am mixed with. Some of my papers say Shepherd and some say Labradoodle. That's a funny one because my fur is really short and definitely not curly. My fur is black and white. Mostly white but I have black freckles. I weigh 50#s. I'm the perfect size! My Mama had to move into a nursing home, and I couldn't go with her. I was so ready to go. I had my things packed up. I don't require much. Just my leash, collar and my bone - I travel light. But sadly, the nursing home said no doggies can come with. So, thankfully some nice folks at Hounds Town knew about me and helped out. I get to go there during the day and play with other dogs. Sometimes I have my sleepovers there too Hounds Town reached out to Treasured Animal Rescue and asked if I could be one of their Gems. They met me and knew I was a gem right away. I get more playdates & sleepovers. I'm such a lucky girl to have so many people helping me find a new home. I was sad when my Mama was no longer with me, but I know she loves me, and I loved her as best I could. Now, it's time for another family to love me. I'm a quiet girl. I like to be around other dogs. I love to sniff and explore. I walk really well on a leash, and I like car rides. I sit really well in my seat and watch the world drive by. I wonder what adventure I am going to. In my foster home there are other dogs and cats. I've met the dogs at my doggie daycare, and we are friends. The cats? It's still un-decided. The cats here are very "dog-savvy". They are used to dogs barking at them. The only time I bark is when I see one of the cats. I haven't chased them yet, but I will give out a loud woof! I haven't been around kids so maybe we just say older kids for right now. I might jump on you when we first me. That's just me saying "let's be friends" and I'll give you a hug. I'm ready for my next adventure. I'm ready for a new family and a new home. Maybe my new family will have a fenced yard that I can walk around and explore. We can go for daily walks. At nighttime, I'll lay by your feet or maybe I'll have a dog bed. I will give you that unconditional love a dog gives. My Mama loved me enough to be sure I was taken care of. I think of her every day but she knows I'm a special girl that needs a family to see how special I am so they can love me just like she did. Can't wait to meet you! Love, Sasha Sashais located in our foster home in Aurora and also spends time at Hounds Town in Aurora. Story
Hi, I`m Lupe! I`m a 3-year-old Pointer mix who is ready to find my forever home! My personality is sweet, playful, loyal, and friendly. I can be a little shy at first, but I like meeting new people who are going to pet me and give me a lot of attention! My favorite things to do are spending time with my favorite people, playing with my toys, laying in the sun, and exploring outside during a nice long walk. I love to follow my nose! I probably had babies in the past, and as a result, I don`t really enjoy the company of other dogs, or even cats at this time. But being an only pet just means I will be able to bond even more with my new family. If you want a sweet new friend who will go with you on all your adventures, apply to meet me today! Special Requirements: Only pet

Click here for Ned's Facebook Album 12-14-2024: Please meet sweet, adorable Ned!! He is an owner surrender twice and we are on a quest to find him the best adoptive home. He is so charming, friendly and thankfully confident, not having suffered any abuse- just a little vetting neglect. Ned is about 18 months old and is already neutered and up to date on his vaccinations. We still need to do our obligatory blood work and get him microchipped. Ned is only 40lbs but he will need some basic obedience training as he is wired to pull a sled on a walk. We haven't tested his nose for birds, but hopefully soon. He was working on house training before he came to us. He is brilliant about jumping into a cage in a car which is helpful. What a magnificent little Pointer. Story
Lulu is a Pointer (English) and not a German Shorthaired Pointer-- they are similar but different. I add GSP to give our Pointers a little more exposure. Click here for Lulu's Facebook Recovery Album March 2, 2025: Lulu has been doing well in foster care, eating well, living indoors and wearing 1 or 2 coats when she goes outside. She's also made a few doggie friends. Next step is her spay in a few weeks; we wanted to put a few more pounds on her and also treat her Rocky Mountain spotted fever a little bit longer prior to any surgery. She loves her cage as that is her safe place and while she doesn't have a lot of freedom in the house, house-training is going pretty well. The perfect home for Lulu would have a confident easy going dog buddy and I'm not sure about small kids. She is a little 24lb pocket Pointer that is so happy to be off the chain she was on in Texas and has the cutest little personality to match. She is such a sweet little bouncy dog and we hope we can find her the bestest family. February 2025: In early February I got a voice mail from a man that was desperate to help a little Pointer he befriended on some hunting grounds in West Texas. Kevin is a volunteer with Above and Beyond English Setter rescue and was on vacation hunting over his adopted English Setter when he met a little Pointer that was with a string of dogs. He learned that her owner just wanted to give her away as he had too many, he didn't hunt over her, etc and Kevin knew she didn't have a happy life. While A&BESR couldn't bring her into their program, they did have my phone number and once Kevin and I connected, we came up with a plan. After a bit of drama with the owner, Kevin did take ownership of little "Lulu" our name as she didn't have one, and Kevin brought her back to Georgia where we made arrangements to have her be boarded and her medical care up to date. She flew into the Chicago area with the help of 2 Pilots N Paws volunteers. Lulu weighed in at 21lbs upon arrival to the vet-- hence the term "Pocket Pointer" a little peanut you can put in your pocket. While in boarding for a week, she gained a pound. Thankfully she is heartworm negative. We are looking for a foster or foster to adopt home for her in the Chicago area with a safe fenced in yard. Story
Daisy is a Pointer (English) and not a German Shorthaired Pointer-- they are similar but different. I add GSP to give our Pointers a little more exposure. Click here for Daisy's Facebook Album March 2025: Daisy moved to temporary foster care in St. Louis until we can line up a longer term foster or foster to adopt in the Chicago area to help continue her heartworm slow-kill treatment. Here's an update from her foster mom Kathleen, "Daisy is timid and needs to be given 'permission' or needs to be encouraged to leave her chosen safe spots. In our house, those are the bed that came with her, and our couch. I would guess she was taught to 'stay' or 'place' with unpleasant consequences for leaving without permission. Because of that, she is less curious than other dogs we have had - hopefully that will change as she learns she is safe. Daisy is housebroken as long as you pick up on her cues. She is learning the dog door. It was so cold the week after she arrived, that we didn't spend a lot of time on that training. Now that it's warmer and the door is open more, I expect she'll figure it out within the week. Daisy walks with a delightful prance and takes treats super gently. She is sweet and undemanding, only occasionally reaching out gently with her paw to ask for petting if you're sitting next to her on the couch. She has shown no interest in our cats, and gets along well with our dogs. So far, she has not been especially playful with them, but she will happily sleep touching them on the couch or on a dog bed. Her previous foster reported she was also safe around human toddlers. Daisy seems to be interested in chewing on bones and likes to play tug. She has not been interested in fetching toys. Daisy is underweight and surprisingly a bit of a diva about eating, only consuming dry kibble if it's mixed with canned dog food. She will wake from a sound sleep if there's a smell of tasty human food in the house, though - and she's happy to eat that if you're willing to share it with you. (Or if you leave it unattended where she can reach it - working on that now!)" She sure sounds like an easy project. If you are in the Chicago area, have a safe fenced in yard and lots of love to give while giving our new girl extra cuddles, please consider fostering our sweet Daisy. Our application can be found at www.helpibr.org January 2025: Daisy is our newest little Pointer rescue from Tennessee. She was pulled from an overcrowded shelter and is currently in our heartworm slow-kill program. While in her foster home in Tennessee, she is learning what it's like to live indoors, to lay on furniture and to just feel safe. We don't know what her life was like before she came into our program, but we know she was not treated kindly, but she is getting braver and more affectionate everyday. We are looking for a foster to adopt family in the Chicago area with other confident dogs she can feel safe with. The foster must have a safe fenced in yard. The rescue covers all slow-kill supplies. We'll need to get her to our vet for her bloodwork and in a few months we'll schedule her spay and microchip.
