With my ears flopping when I’m running around and having fun, some of my friends feel that I should also be wearing a cape. This would definitely make heads turn and people smile. I love life in the fast lane, having fun in a play yard, making the duck toy squeak and of course taking in all the scents. I’m not just good looks, I’m also pretty smart – sit, down, paw, stay, roll over. I can show you all this and of course I’m ready to learn more.

Vaughn is our longest term pup -  an introverted extrovert that came to us almost three years ago in VERY rough shape.  When he arrived he was skin and bones and terrified of the world.  He would guard his food from other dogs and wouldn't let strangers approach him.  With a lot of patience and work - this boy has made a complete turnaround!   Vaughn is still a little shy with strangers, but after a quick sniff and a treat he's your best friend.  In the home, this 70 pound pup thinks he's a lap dog and is always trying to curl up next to you.  He currently lives with multiple small dogs and is doing very well - but will definitely chase a cat if given the opportunity (that's the hound in him).   He loves to play with other dogs...  but prefers calmer personalities that won't try to bully him.  Vaughn is sweet and playful with the reserved disposition that middle age brings.  A pup that LOVES his walks, but only half as much as he loves his naps.   He's got a smidge of cattle dog in him as well and tends to be a bit mouthier and will herd his friends when he plays so an adult only home or a home with kids over 12 would be ideal.   If you think our little wallflower sounds like the dog for you, please contact his trainer (Kseniya) today at 847.338.3252 or info@redemptionroadinc.org  to schedule your private meet and greet. Meet Rye! She is a 10-month-old Hound, Plott/Black Mouth Cur mix, with a gentle and reserved nature. She came to the shelter needing a little extra time to warm up to people, as she is naturally a bit cautious around new faces. Though she may take a little while to build trust, Rye has a lot of love to give once she feels comfortable in her surroundings. With patience and understanding, Rye will slowly open up, revealing her affectionate and loyal side. His shy demeanor doesn’t reflect his true potential as a loving companion, but rather her need for a calm environment where she can feel safe and secure. Rye’s ideal home would be with an experienced dog owner who can provide her the time and space he needs to build trust at her own pace.

Ash is a big happy guy who is easy to love. He may be 8 years old, but you wouldn't know it. He loves to play with other dogs (he gets along great with my own dog and my fosters). He greets us enthusiastically every morning when we get up and every time we come home. On walks, he's a little pokey because there's always a lot to sniff. He plays hard with other dogs both in the house and in the yard, but he also likes to sunbathe in the yard. He's a big guy and his beautiful brindled coat improves a little every day. In our home, he's thriving, and he makes us feel well appreciated. He's well-mannered and housetrained.
