Story
Lila is a sweet 2-year old female Plott Hound/American Pit Bull Terrier mix arrived at the HSOV on November 13, 2023 after she was picked up on Germantown Road (at the 8-mile marker) in the Lower Salem Ohio area by a Washington County Ohio Deputy Sheriff. Lila was wearing a collar but, unfortunately, there was either an id tag nor a dog tag on her collar .. And she was not microchipped. Lila has a shiny dark brown/brindle-and-white coat, white toes on her front paws, a long tail, and a lovely symmetrically-marked face with dark brown eyes, a dark chocolate nose, and large semi-erect ears. This little lovebug has a super-friendly outgoing personality and is a pushover for attention. Lila was full of playful energy when HSOV Kennel Tech Madison Lee accompanied her for outdoor photos late in the afternoon on November 13th. Lila weighs 52 lbs and is fairly strong/energetic on a leash. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Lila will be held for three days so that her family will have an opportunity to reclaim her with proof of ownership. Surely someone is missing this sweet girl. NOTE: We've learned that Lila does not do well with cats and cannot be trusted to be nice to them.

Story
Lacy is a beautiful 4-year old female Plott Hound who was brought to the HSOV on December 6, 2023 by the Washington County Ohio Dog Warden who picked her up on Highland Ridge Road near Marietta Ohio. Lacy was later surrendered by her family. Lacy has a brown/brindle short smooth coat, a long tail, and a lovely face with soft brown eyes, a dark chocolate note, and large floppy ears. Thanks to HSOV Lead HSOV Canine Kennel Tech Jared Nash for treating Lacy some extra TLC while she had her glamour photos taken on December 8th. Lacy enjoyed a short break from being in her kennel, and Jared joined Lacy for a brief walk as they teamed up to jog back inside the shelter. We've learned that Lacy is dog selective and does not do well with small dogs/animals. She has been kept indoors and is housetrained. Lacy weighs 54 lbs and walks fairly well on a leash, and she has already been spayed.

Story
Ruger is a handsome 7-month old male (possible) Plott Hound mix who was surrendered by his family to a Washington County Ohio Deputy Sheriff on September 24, 2024. Ruger has a dark brown/brindle short smooth coat with a large white bib on his chest, white paws, a long tail, and an adorable face with black shading, expressive brown eyes, a black button nose, and large floppy ears. This young man has a sweet, outgoing personality and was quite playful when HSOV Kennel Tech Emily Beaver accompanied him for his outdoor photo session on October 13, 2024. Ruger seemed a little too interested in giving chase to our HSOV outdoor shelter mascot kitties, so we aren't sure that he could be trusted to be nice to cats. Ruger weighs 51 lbs and walks fairly well on a leash, Ruger had an unfortunate bite incident when he bit a young child in his home and was placed on the mandatory 10-day bite quarantine in our shelter as a result. His family did not believe that Ruger was to blame but we have taken the precaution of advising that he should not be placed in a home with small/young children. Ruger will be neutered before being adopted by his new family (a requirement for HSOV adoptions to be finalized). He could be fostered with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application.

Story
Meet handsome Lamar....this 2.5 year old plott hound/lab mix is 72 pounds of sweetness! He was picked up as a stray in St Thomas in February 2022 and spent months in the shelter where he shut down, not wanting to eat, walk or play. Neil, a volunteer at the shelter, fostered him and loved him until Neil left the island to work stateside. Instead of placing Lamar back in the shelter, the Pets With Wings Program brought him to Pet Search! Lamar loves other dogs and will thrive with a fur-sibling or two! and once he becomes comfortable, he will join and play, almost to the point of exhaustion! Lamar is very skittish when first meeting people and will bark out of anxiety, and will back away. After several weeks in foster care, he is warming up to his foster parents. Lamar needs time to adjust to new surroundings and will have accidents while feeling comfortable. He loves to sleep in bed or on a sofa, but is crate trained also. Lamar has shown no reactiveness to cats and would be a great playmate for older children due to his size and weight. Applications can he found at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/PAPS/Dog KL#03301 Washington PA 15301

Story
Dodger and his brother, Moose both came from an overcrowded shelter in WV. At 8 months old, they may not have even seen snow yet, so it might be a welcome surprise to the Labrador Retriever mixes who are usually bred for icy weather. Currently weighing about 40 lbs., Dodger is not going to be a whole lot bigger. With his beautiful brindle coat and a splash of white on his chest, Dodger is of the age where exercise goes a long way and training means a lot. Both are considered (almost) housebroken. Having lived with a lot of dogs — too many for their owner, each is ready to move on ... maybe together or maybe with another dog.
