DRACO - 8 years old, 50 pounds, house trained, good with kids, no other pets, very sweet and loving, nervous with new males. Losing your home is not only devastating to the humans but to the pets as well. This is how Draco ended up at VBACAC. He had been with his last family half his life and now lives behind bars through no fault of his own. He is a sweet, friendly boy. He's house trained and good with kids. He can get along with other dogs, well, let's say he can tolerate other dogs as long as they listen to him. We've had him in our shelter playgroup and he just doesn't seem to want to engage with the other dogs. If a dog gets near him or tries to engage with him, he barks and backs the dog up. So, an only dog home might be best but walking around your neighborhood or going on a hike should be pleasant without worrying about seeing other dogs. Field trip report! “ We enjoyed a beautiful trail run/walk and watch the human kiddos play at the park. He needs a little more leash training, but he is amazing! He’s so sweet, funny, and has a lot of fun personality. He has so much energy and LOVES being on the trails! He’s amazing with my kids and I could tell he was concerned about them from the short amount of time we had with him (loyalty). He could even do great with a runner/hiker. He likes to mark and does a funny kick back every time that had us all laughing every-time he did it. Earl was preciously in foster care:A bit from his foster momma:`Hi, my name is Earl. I`m a really good boy. I`m housebroken. I don`t bark a lot but will woof when it`s time to go out. I`m very friendly with my  roommate and we like to play. When I wear my harness I don`t pull but I`m strong  and like to sniff around the yard. I can sit, lie down and come when called. I like being around my family and will watch them wherever they go. I am friendly with everyone I meet. I ride very well in the car and sit in back seat without jumping all around.  I went to petco and picked out a new bed. I was very well behaved.`Hello there, I`m Earl. Don`t let my age fool you, I`m as playful and energetic as a pup. I`m quite the independent guy, but I`ll always be there when you need a loyal friend. I`ve been told I`m smart and funny, and I must admit, I do have a knack for making people laugh with my goofy antics. Cuddling? Oh, I`m a pro at that! I promise to keep your lap warm and your heart full. Adopting me means gaining a companion who will bring joy, laughter, and unwavering loyalty into your life. I can`t wait to meet you!

I adopted Otis to treat his ear infections. Over the last 9 months our Vet has done a wonderful job! Now the only thing Otis needs is a large place to run around. He's great with kids, hardy on the trail, house trained, protective, etc.

Our pets are fostered and physically located in Mt.Airy,NC. We are 5 & 1/2 hrs west if VA, Beach. We encourage you to come to us to pick up. Transport to the area has been put on hold due to vehicle issues. Normally we offer halfway transport for $100 or to your door for $200. This pup is a Catahoula mix. This pup was born 10-20-22. This pup will not be overly large. My educated guess is around 35-40 pounds at maturity. This pup is shy but warms up. This pup is great with other dogs and cats. We have started crate training and potty training. I will consider a reduced adoption fee to the right home! This pup will be current on vaccines, deworming, preventives. This pup will be micro-chipped. This pup is spayed! This pup will receive a physical and a certificate of health prior to going home. The adopter will get all the health records with adoption. Frances is spayed! We require a prescreen application to adopt. You can get that on our website at www.saveamuttkennel.net
