Story
Obi has been with us since he was 8 weeks old. He is energetic and playful, and is usually very gentle and loves to be rubbed and cuddled. However, he has displayed anxiety since he was a puppy, and he takes anxiety medication daily. He has a tendency to resource guard some items such as bones and toys. He is occasionally reactive to other dogs when on leash and has redirected his aggression onto whoever is walking him. He does have a bite history. We think he would do best in a home without kids, or a home with lots of his own space or land where he can be outside.

Story
Toby is a young adult Plott Hound energetic, affectionate and loyal with its family, can be independent but enjoys companionship and physical activity.  Ideal for an active household, offering both an adventurous spirit and a loyal companion. This pet is eligible for the PETS FOR PATRIOTS adoption program. Adoption Process If you are ready to meet the pet, please fill out an online adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your internet browser: https://www.petstablished.com/adoption_form/10666/generic Once your application is submitted, we will contact the vet reference provided. If you do not yet have a vet, please provide three personal references – these could be family and friends who can attest to your pet parenting skills. A volunteer will schedule a phone interview with you. The interview and application help our fosters find their forever home by ensuring a good match.   The Louisa Humane Society does not have a brick and mortar facility, so all of our pets are in foster care. Once approved, the foster parent will reach out to arrange a visit. The foster family can tell you all about her likes, dislikes, and little quirks.  The application and visit do not oblige you to adopt, but if you’re ready to take the pet home as your furry forever friend, the adoption fee is $150. ##2182225##

Story
Hello! I’m Hank the Hound. I am a male (neutered) 5 year old Plott Hound located in Charlottesville, Virginia. I am currently up to date on all my vaccinations and take heartworm/flea/tick prevention every month. I have no other medical concerns. I am potty-trained and crate-trained. I am currently seeking a new home as I do not like my human’s infant. I would do well in a home with adults or older children. I am not the biggest fan of other dogs but I tolerate cats. I am happy to lounge with you but just say the word and I’ll race you out the door for a walk around the neighborhood. My humans sent me to training camp for three weeks and I came back with a variety of commands that I can show off. The one thing I still need work on is passing other dogs on the road without barking or growling. My bark may occasionally sound mighty (like a big protector) but I can get nervous and scared too. If I sound like I could be a good fit for you, please contact to my human, Emily Thomas.

Story
Remember Noah? Noah came to us a few weeks ago from our local shelter, Shenandoah Valley Animal Services Center. He spent about 4 months there hiding under his dog bed! Now, he's thriving in a life-saving, foster home! Noah is a petite, plott hound mix who weighs about 35-40 pounds and is about 1.5 years old. He's still scared of loud noises and needs a securely fenced yard and a least one other playful dog for him to be comforted by. Noah loves playing with the other dogs in his foster home. He is crate and house trained and is building confidence every day! Noah is a special guy who deserves the best of furEVER homes! And we are ready to help him find it! Can you be the happy ending that Noah has been waiting for? Augusta Dog Adoptions is a 501c3, foster-based rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. Story
Friendly pup needs a new home.  Caramel likes all ppl and LOVES toys!  She loves, loves, loves to play fetch!  Another fave game of hers is TUG - see pic!  Caramel is a fun-loving pup! Caramel loves water too just like a Lab and loves playing in a baby pool (see pic). She had lots of fun playing in water last summer   We think she was born approx 2/10/24. PAWS had a volunteer who played with her and has been teaching Caramel verbal cues such as "sit” & "come". She is doing great on the leash and loves to go for walks!  She is very loving and sweet with all people and plays with other dogs so we expect she will make a loyal & loving family pet!10/8/24: At 8 mos. old, Caramel weighs 54 lbs.  ##2077640##
