Story
Trying to find a new home for my best friend. Free had a rough start to life, I rescued him from RACC in 2020, but he really rescued me. He is an absolute companion dog. He is protective, loving, playful but also can be lazy and lay around. He does have some fear aggression and reactivity challenges, but he is absolutely able to learn and with the right owner he will thrive. I had a child in November and Free adores him, but I am unexpectedly on my own and I am unable to provide him the best life. I can see some of his original behaviors start to come back and he doesn't deserve that. He has been good with all the kids that he has met. Wouldn't suggest a house with cats. He loves to go on adventures and was originally trained off leash to do so- again, he would need some refreshers but he really aims to please. Please help me find a new home where Free Ride can truly be Free and loved.

Story
Meet Emmy, a vibrant Plott Hound, who has a heart as warm as her short brown brindle coat. She is 3 years old and weighs 42 pounds, but still has some filling in to do. Emmy is filled with a sweet and contagious energy! She is not just sweet, she is also smart. She can quickly pick up commands and is always eager to learn more. She knows sit, shake and lay down. Emmy's energy and intelligence make her perfect for an active household. Her sweet nature means that she'll fit right into a family with other pets. Emmy's has all of the qualities of a loyal and loving pet. She is waiting to bring joy, fun, and love into your home. Adopt Emmy and let her brighten your life with her sweetness, energy, and intelligence! (ME, 4/16/24)**It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. ** Adoption fee: $395 covers quarantine, shots, worming, medical records, spaying/neutering, microchip, and an Alabama State Health Certificate. Transport, if needed, is $160. We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip. We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs. Adoption fees for Hope dogs and those who have been at rescue for prolonged amounts of time are reduced to $150 plus a $100 transport fee, as notated in their listings.October 15, 2024, 11:15 am

Story
Toby is a young adult Plott Hound energetic, affectionate and loyal with its family, can be independent but enjoys companionship and physical activity.  Ideal for an active household, offering both an adventurous spirit and a loyal companion. This pet is eligible for the PETS FOR PATRIOTS adoption program. Adoption Process If you are ready to meet the pet, please fill out an online adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your internet browser: https://www.petstablished.com/adoption_form/10666/generic Once your application is submitted, we will contact the vet reference provided. If you do not yet have a vet, please provide three personal references – these could be family and friends who can attest to your pet parenting skills. A volunteer will schedule a phone interview with you. The interview and application help our fosters find their forever home by ensuring a good match.   The Louisa Humane Society does not have a brick and mortar facility, so all of our pets are in foster care. Once approved, the foster parent will reach out to arrange a visit. The foster family can tell you all about her likes, dislikes, and little quirks.  The application and visit do not oblige you to adopt, but if you’re ready to take the pet home as your furry forever friend, the adoption fee is $150. ##2182225##

Story
Hank the Hound is a loving 5-year-old Plott Hound looking for a loving family where he can love on his adult humans without little ones running around. He has been a loving, cuddly part of our family for 5 years, and we are looking to place him in a forever home with a kind, caring family. He would be best as a single dog but grew up with a male dog and male cat, with whom got along great. He is neuteted, up to date on all shots, and has no medical needs beyond standard heartworm prevention and annual vaccinations. He is food motivated and responds well to training commands. He attended a 3-week doggy bootcamp training in 2022 but would do well with an owner that is experienced with dogs. He can become defensive towards other dogs (as he thinks he is a big protector), but he really just loves to be around his humans! We need Hank to find a good match because he does not enjoy being around our 1-year-old.

Story
Remember Noah? Noah came to us a few weeks ago from our local shelter, Shenandoah Valley Animal Services Center. He spent about 4 months there hiding under his dog bed! Now, he's thriving in a life-saving, foster home! Noah is a petite, plott hound mix who weighs about 35-40 pounds and is about 1.5 years old. He's still scared of loud noises and needs a securely fenced yard and a least one other playful dog for him to be comforted by. Noah loves playing with the other dogs in his foster home. He is crate and house trained and is building confidence every day! Noah is a special guy who deserves the best of furEVER homes! And we are ready to help him find it! Can you be the happy ending that Noah has been waiting for? Augusta Dog Adoptions is a 501c3, foster-based rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
