Story
Obi has been with us since he was 8 weeks old. He is energetic and playful, and is usually very gentle and loves to be rubbed and cuddled. However, he has displayed anxiety since he was a puppy, and he takes anxiety medication daily. He has a tendency to resource guard some items such as bones and toys. He is occasionally reactive to other dogs when on leash and has redirected his aggression onto whoever is walking him. He does have a bite history. We think he would do best in a home without kids, or a home with lots of his own space or land where he can be outside.

Story
Remember Noah? Noah came to us a few weeks ago from our local shelter, Shenandoah Valley Animal Services Center. He spent about 4 months there hiding under his dog bed! Now, he's thriving in a life-saving, foster home! Noah is a petite, plott hound mix who weighs about 35-40 pounds and is about 1.5 years old. He's still scared of loud noises and needs a securely fenced yard and a least one other playful dog for him to be comforted by. Noah loves playing with the other dogs in his foster home. He is crate and house trained and is building confidence every day! Noah is a special guy who deserves the best of furEVER homes! And we are ready to help him find it! Can you be the happy ending that Noah has been waiting for? Augusta Dog Adoptions is a 501c3, foster-based rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. Friendly pup needs a new home.  Caramel likes all ppl and LOVES toys!  She loves, loves, loves to play fetch!  Another fave game of hers is TUG - see pic!  Caramel is a fun-loving pup! Caramel loves water too just like a Lab and loves playing in a baby pool (see pic). She had lots of fun playing in water last summer   We think she was born approx 2/10/24. PAWS had a volunteer who played with her and has been teaching Caramel verbal cues such as "sit” & "come". She is doing great on the leash and loves to go for walks!  She is very loving and sweet with all people and plays with other dogs so we expect she will make a loyal & loving family pet!10/8/24: At 8 mos. old, Caramel weighs 54 lbs.  ##2077640##

Polaroid is a handsome Plott Hound on the hunt for his new forever home. Polaroid adores meeting new people - his enthusiasm knows no bounds! If you've got a hand free for pets and ear scratches, you'll be his favorite! Polaroid loves outdoor escapades, whether it's a leisurely walk or a good old romp in the yard. He gets along famously with other dogs, and he loves kids, too. His previous owner lost their home, which is why Polaroid is with us. Story
Hello! I’m Hank the Hound. I am a male (neutered) 5 year old Plott Hound located in Charlottesville, Virginia. I am currently up to date on all my vaccinations and take heartworm/flea/tick prevention every month. I have no other medical concerns. I am potty-trained and crate-trained. I am currently seeking a new home as I do not like my human’s infant. I would do well in a home with adults or older children. I am not the biggest fan of other dogs but I tolerate cats. I am happy to lounge with you but just say the word and I’ll race you out the door for a walk around the neighborhood. My humans sent me to training camp for three weeks and I came back with a variety of commands that I can show off. The one thing I still need work on is passing other dogs on the road without barking or growling. My bark may occasionally sound mighty (like a big protector) but I can get nervous and scared too. If I sound like I could be a good fit for you, please contact to my human, Emily Thomas.

These pups are in Harrisonburg, Virginia too!

Story
Let me introduce Chance, one of the coolest dogs in our rescue! His foster mother has medical issues, and she wants him to find his furever home ASAP! This awesome guy was abandoned in the woods, alone in the middle of nowhere, when he was still a puppy – scared and left to die young. He is extremely sweet. Chance loves toys and playing fetch - playtime is high on his wish list. He is very friendly, never meets a stranger, and loves absolutely everyone he meets. He still has a puppy spirit and needs activity & exercise! He would be great for an active family that hikes or runs, as long as there are cuddles and belly rubs. His leash walking is progressing well. He gets along well with other dogs with proper introduced. He will be happiest as a loving family companion. We use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. We'll transport to a destination near you every weekend, alternating between the Northeast and the Great Lakes.

Story
Maryann and Jenny showed up at a good Samaritan's house. The good Samaritan brought them to our facility, and we took them in. Well, how could we resist. They were so frightened and scared but are doing much better now. They are up to date on shots, spayed, microchipped and ready to be adopted. Who could resist those faces. They are adorable and they need a good loving home full of happiness, playfulness and lots of love. We don't know if they are siblings or not but that they came in together. The foster that has them now says they are coming out of their shell and are very playful and full of life. They love chasing each other and playing tag. They are very curious and so affectionate. They will be great for any family to have one of them for a family member. She is in TN but the cost of transport to your area is included in her fee. We use the most animal friendly transport on the road, Rescue Riders Pet Transport.

Story
Star was rescued in Louisiana. A lady that found her called me and said that she could not find a rescue group in Louisiana to take her. She had a gunshot wound through her jaw and ear. She was in pain. She brought her to me in Mississippi, and I got her the medical treatment that she needed. She had jaw surgery, and now her tongue permanently hangs out. We think this makes her uniquely special!! I know that her tongue hanging out may be a deterrent for a permanent home, but Star is such a sweet baby. She cannot help it that somebody shot her. She is a Catahoula hound, and her tail is docked. Star is a very sweet and loves to ride in the car. She loves dogs, and she loves children. She loves to roll over for a belly rub, and she knows the sit command. She is extremely smart. She loves to load up and ride in the car, and I believe that she was somebody’s baby at one time! Star has been in foster care and boarding for a while, and she wants a forever home! Also, if you live out of state, we use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. We alternate between the Northeast and the Midwest every other weekend. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee.
