Story
Meet Lilly, the sweetest of the bunch who’s won the hearts of everyone!…even the grumpiest of the old man dogs.Lilly is a young adult dog with a longing in her eyes for companionship – human or doggie, she is not fussy. Everywhere she goes, people comment on her beautiful, tiger-like coat. She gets along well with her two foster siblings that are a bit bigger than her, and has even persuaded an old grumpy yorkie that she is worthy of his attention. In return, she plays gently with him and is aware of her clear size difference. She also lives with two cat foster siblings and shows little interest in them!Lilly is not a jumper so to say - but she will gently raise herself up and put her paws against your hips to say hi. She enjoys her “snoofing time” be it on walks or in a yard and has a moderate energy level – enough to keep up on longer walks and hikes, but also enjoys snuggles on the couch. She is well behaved in the home - no accidents!! and quietly eats her dinner and will sleep overnight in her crate… she just asks that she has a seat on the sofa. She is sweet tempered and usually has a toy in her mouth for emotional support. Check out this cute video: https://youtube.com/shorts/ImHtepJ3tSw?feature=sharedLilly’s only hiccup is being crated/left alone when her humans aren’t home, and we really can’t blame her after being bounced around for the first few years of her life. She’s just nervous you won’t come back like the others. Because of this, Lilly needs a home with a family that is home most of the time. She would make a great companion for you when you go to the coffee shop, soccer fields, breweries, your holiday meals at your family’s house. She is working on handling a few hours here or there when you have to grocery shop or run errands that she can’t come with you for (but she will need more practice and a family committed to helping her learn that life is ok and you aren’t going to leave her… she is currently prescribed medication to help her cope and manage).Name: Chill Lill (Lilly)Breed: Plott Hound mixCharacteristics: Friendly, Affectionate, Playful, Loves kisses, Smart, Sex: FemaleAge: 2 yearsWeight: 45.0Spayed/Neutered: Will be by adoptionVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: YesGood with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: YesAdoption Fee: $500.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:  New EnglandIMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue. Story
Meet Remy: A Loving Pup Seeking a New Home!Remy joined us about two years ago through a Bissell Foundation airlift from Texas. He landed in a fantastic home where he’s been showered with love, but unfortunately, circumstances have changed.Despite being a wonderful companion who’s great with kids, Remy’s family has a young daughter who is afraid of him, even though he has done nothing to deserve her fear. He’s an affectionate dog who just wants to be a part of the family, and his family has realized it’s not fair for him to be separated from them.  He generally ignores the youngest daughter, respecting her space. He occasionally gives her a gentle lick when they reunite, and although he’s knocked her over in play, it was never intentional. [This exact words from current mom]Remy isn’t much of a barker, but he has the sweetest howl when he’s happy or excited—especially when it’s time for a walk! He enjoys spending time outdoors, running around with his toys (he’s particularly fond of squeaky ones), and basking in the sun. His favorite outings are runs in the state park, where his puppy energy shines. While he’s not a fan of car rides and can get a bit nervous during them, he can take them when needed—maybe with a little CBD!His current mom reports that he LOVES OTHER DOGS. He happily walks on leash and has zero issues meeting humans or dogs. He also plays with other dogs of all sizes with no issues. If you’re looking for a joyful, affectionate dog who just wants to be part of the family, Remy is ready to meet you! Name: Remy LOCALBreed: Plott HoundSex: MaleAge: Approx 3 yearsWeight: 60 approx.Spayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: He is good with kids - he moves quickly & may scare a small child (as in current home)Good with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: The current home has cats - he is playful and will chase - a dog-savvy cat will be fine!!Adoption Fee: $300.00Location of dog currently:  New EnglandIMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. APPLICATION: If this dog has stolen your heart, don't wait! Please apply online now to be considered as a potential adopter. NAME, GENDER, AGE WEIGHT & BREED DOG: MYSTIC GENDER: FEMALE DOB: 11-13-22 APPROX WEIGHT: 50 approx BREED: Plot Hound Mix LOCATION: Delhi, LA ADOPTION FEE: $450.00 (includes transport) RESCUE STORY: Every so often we come across an unfortunate situation and we are compelled to help. It is not abandonment or neglect; it is simply a loving pet owner that can no longer care for their pet. We are so happy when they reach out to us so that we may help find the pup a new, loving home instead of being turned into a shelter where, sadly, their fate is commonly not a good one. Turning in a dog is by no means easy on the human, but the dog also goes through a lot of stress and feelings of loss. They just don’t understand why they were taken from their home and their people. Mystic is going through this right now, and we are in search of new people for her, people who will be just as lucky to get her as she is them. PERSONALITY: Mystic is a beautiful Plot Hound Mix with silky brindle fur that looks like a tiger, and a delightful personality to boot! Foster mom says she is super sweet and very smart. Mystic is young and energetic and would absolutely love a young couple to hike with or a family with children to play with (we ALWAYS stress, however, that young children and dogs should never be left unsupervised for the safety of both). ABOUT THE BREED: When it comes to the personality, the Plott Hounds are confident, courageous and bright dogs. In addition to it, their kind nature attracts the attention of the people. Hounds are one of the most popular breeds in the USA because they are loyal, loving, affectionate and patient, making great family dogs. Plott Hounds will defend their owners from perceived threats. And early socialization is imperative to prevent this trait from getting out of hand. This breed is also fantastic watchdogs. Plott Hounds are incredibly brave. They were bred to hunt massive animals such as bears, so they will not back down from any person or dog no matter the size. The Hounds are known to fit perfectly into family life with its sweet, peaceful and gentle nature. These dogs are well behaved and always friendly. They are not aggressive to people and other animals. They will happily welcome your guests with a tail wag. This breed is just as happy lounging around the house. They are extremely affectionate with all the family members and have an average activity level. The Plott Hound has a curious and playful temperament. Firstly, these dogs are loyal and smart. Moreover, they love to please their people and be along with them every-time possible. Overall, the Plott Hounds are people-oriented dogs that behave very well with their family members. Though the Plott Hounds are loyal and affectionate with their people, they are somewhat wary of strangers. And they are likely to bark at them at first. But when properly introduced, they get along very quickly. Lastly, the independent and stubborn nature of them play a huge role while training. CHILDREN: Yes, the Plott Hounds have a good reputation when it comes to dealing with kids. However, these dogs are better with older children who know how to treat dogs better. And this means they are not suited for younger kids. These dogs can become very possessive of their food items. To conclude, the Plott Hounds are only recommended for families with older children. WHY THE PLOTT HOUND? The Plott Hound is a fabulous pet for dog savvy owners. The Plott Hound temperament makes it a challenging choice for beginners, but if you are an experienced guardian and you are looking for a fiercely loyal companion, the Plott Hound might be the dog for you. Mystic had a loving owner and is now in search of a new forever home to call her own. If you think Mystic might be the right addition to your family, please give her a chance. She is such a wonderful girl!

Story
Jack is a vibrant, loyal and playful Plott Hound mix that is about 1.5 years old and weighs about 75 pounds. He gets along great with adults and older kids. He's currently enjoying life in his foster home with 3 children (ages 9, 10 and 14 years old) and his best buddy, a 55-pound female pittie mix. Jack is house broken, does not food guard. He is very food motivated and has been easy to train. Jack knows the following commands: "no, sit, down, paw, leave it, wait, no pull, potty, and come". He walks well on a leash and really enjoys his outings with a harness and retractable leash. Jack can be left outside his crate when his family goes out. All he does is to roam around, lays on the couch and chills. He never causes any damage or has accidents. Personality: Jack starts shy and needs slow introductions. His foster family has worked hard to build his confidence and he has come a very long way since being rescued. Jack is still young and playful. He loves chewing on toys, playing tug of war with his ropes and fetching. He can be high energy when not exercised or mentally stimulated. Jack is a happy pup and knows how to entertain himself with toys and chews when needed. This pup enjoys couch cuddles with his foster family and likes to watch TV or snuggling his foster sister pup. Ideal Home: Jack would thrive in an active household where he can get plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. Jack will need very slow introductions because Jack can be really timid when meeting new dogs. With cats, Jack can be curious but won't go after them. The only thing is that he can get a bit nervous if the cat is aggressive towards him. Jack's resscue story: Jack was dumped in a new development neighborhood as a very young pup. His foster mom found him in early January. Jack is up to date on vaccinations and is neutered. (puppies under the age of 6 months may not be sterilized prior to adoption, if this is the case your adoption coordinator will discuss the process with you). To adopt or learn more about: you must fill out an adoption application. To find the application, visit our website: WWW.SANDYPAWSRESCUE.COM ** PLEASE READ: If a dog/puppy is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. In some cases this dog may be pending an adoption already, and their profile has not been updated yet. Please note, SPR does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated otherwise. All breeds listed are educated best estimates by transferring shelter staff, our volunteers or our vets. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them the All American MUTT. Our dogs are rescued from various situations (kill-shelters, owner surrenders, strays, etc). It is most likely that both their parents were strays and mixes of some sort. If you are interested in this dog, you MUST submit an application. Sandy Paws Rescue does not a have a public shelter in Mass, so there is no building you can visit without an appointment. Our dogs live in private foster homes or boarding kennels down south until adopted, and foster care homes through out MV, Cape Cod and other parts of MA. A majority of our dogs are adopted/spoken for prior to transport and release from state mandated isolation. To learn more about our rescue, adoption fees, and procedures, review the list of FAQ’s on our website at WWW.SANDYPAWSRESCUE.COM **The FIRST step in adopting an animal from our rescue is to submit a completed adoption application.
