What’s worse then being abandoned and shun to the streets with your brother, having to not only fend for yourself, but fend for a litter of puppies and trying to keep them safe? Buster helped his sister keep her litter safe until we found them and brought them to safety. These two are a very bonded pair and we will only adopt them together, but what is better then one dog TWO of course. They just love to be loved on. They will need some basic training. Both are crate trained.

Introducing Ember! She was saved from a shelter and has now been spayed and vetted. She has gone to a foster home with other dogs, kids, and cats and so far she is doing great with all of them! We estimate her age as somewhere in the 1-2 year range. So far she is just a bit timid but that is to be expected. We have no idea about her previous history before becoming a Helpless Hound, but we can't wait to watch her blossom. Ember is a sweet and smart pup who loves chasing her toys and playing fetch. Her playful nature and great spirit make her a joy to be around. Ember is also incredibly loving and forms great bonds with those who spend time with her. Hey all, Ruthie here. I have been trying for such a long time to find my forever home. I really don't understand why I haven't. I think I'm around 3 yrs old so really a perfect age. My foster mom did this picture compare app on the computer and based on my picture, it said I'm some breed called a Entlebucher Mountain Dog! I don't know about that but it was kind of fun to see. I'm already trained...ooh...let me tell you just how trained I am! I went to a place that had big walls and lots of people to meet and learned all kinds of commands. I think they called it Dick Conner Correctional Center and something called the STAR Inmate Training Program. I got so good that I didn't even need a leash with my trainer person, I just hung out with him all the time. It was so much fun! Even passed my test at the top of the class if I do say so myself! I was kind of sad when I left because I had so many friends there. My foster mom said that I am such a good girl that she doesn't understand why I haven't had tons of people wanting me. She said I am the most loyal, playful, people dog she has ever seen. That is true that I always want to be with my people, always! I love meeting new people and going places. According to my foster mom and the guys at the prison program, I have so many great qualities. The only thing that might be holding me back is that I need to be an only dog but let me explain why. I don't get angry with other dogs. I can go places and be around them. But I learned how to play super hard when I was young, maybe as a survival tool, and it's just too much for other dogs. I'm totally ok being with my people, in fact, I prefer it. I really would make someone a great companion dog. Mocha needs an active lifestyle where someone will be willing to play fetch from sunrise to sunset. Mocha likes to go for walks, and with a little more work on leash will love to go for runs as well! With the proper training, Mocha could make a great hunting dog. Mocha is a smart gal who picks up on things fairly quick. Mocha knows how to sit, to drop the ball when told to "drop it", does well for baths, and great for car rides. Because of her "go-go-go" mentality, Mocha will need work on potty training. The shelter environment is a stressful one, especially for Mocha. Mocha would do great with potty training in a quiet, less stressful environment. Mocha would do best as a single animal home.
