Maple is a cute mixed breed girl that is looking for love and understanding. She is at that awkward age where things are spooky, as a little older girl overlooks that sudden movement of a leaf blowing across the yard or the wave of your arm. Maple walks pretty good on a leash, takes treats nicely from hand and accepts pets and kisses like a champ. If you would like to meet this young girl the shelter can be reached at 937-498-7201to schedule a meet. Lobby hours are Monday-Friday 9-5 and Saturday 9-12. Open kennel hours are Monday-Friday 12-4 and Saturday by appointment.

Ruger is a handsome 7-month old male (possible) Plott Hound mix who was surrendered by his family to a Washington County Ohio Deputy Sheriff on September 24, 2024. Ruger has a dark brown/brindle short smooth coat with a large white bib on his chest, white paws, a long tail, and an adorable face with black shading, expressive brown eyes, a black button nose, and large floppy ears. This young man has a sweet, outgoing personality and was quite playful when HSOV Kennel Tech Emily Beaver accompanied him for his outdoor photo session on October 13, 2024. Ruger seemed a little too interested in giving chase to our HSOV outdoor shelter mascot kitties, so we aren't sure that he could be trusted to be nice to cats. Ruger weighs 51 lbs and walks fairly well on a leash, Ruger had an unfortunate bite incident when he bit a young child in his home and was placed on the mandatory 10-day bite quarantine in our shelter as a result. His family did not believe that Ruger was to blame but we have taken the precaution of advising that he should not be placed in a home with small/young children. Ruger will be neutered before being adopted by his new family (a requirement for HSOV adoptions to be finalized). He could be fostered with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application.

We have had Jasmine for 4 years, she is a dog with a lot of personality and is very vocal, crying like a husky. She is quick to wag her tail, even quicker to lick, and could spend an entire day in the backyard. Jasmine is housetrained, listens to commands, and is always the first to greet you when you come home. Jasmine is a frequent dog park visitor and never shows any aggression, to either people or other dogs. Jasmine would be an amazing dog in a single pet home, including those homes that have frequent guests of both the human and furry kind.

Arya (Ari) is the sweetest little baby. She is still gaining confidence, but loves to be loved, play with toys, play with her foster sister and investigate new things. She’s a gorgeous brindle girl who just needs someone to pay attention to her and bond with her so she knows she’s safe forever. Arya can be a little shy when meeting new people and in new situations. RCHS does not conduct DNA tests on dogs who enter our facility therefore we are unable to guarantee breed or breed mix. Information provided by shelter staff, volunteers, and veterinarians is used to give a best estimate as to a dog’s breed make up. We do our best to inform adopters about the potential breeds for each dog.We are a dog only facility so we do not know how most of our dogs will be with cats. Even if a dog is surrendered to us and said to be good with cats there is no way to be sure the dog will be good with your cats. We do have a 7 day foster-to-adopt program so that you can see how the dog interacts with your cats before adoption.
