Story
Vaughn is our longest term pup -  an introverted extrovert that came to us almost three years ago in VERY rough shape.  When he arrived he was skin and bones and terrified of the world.  He would guard his food from other dogs and wouldn't let strangers approach him.  With a lot of patience and work - this boy has made a complete turnaround!   Vaughn is still a little shy with strangers, but after a quick sniff and a treat he's your best friend.  In the home, this 70 pound pup thinks he's a lap dog and is always trying to curl up next to you.  He currently lives with multiple small dogs and is doing very well - but will definitely chase a cat if given the opportunity (that's the hound in him).   He loves to play with other dogs...  but prefers calmer personalities that won't try to bully him.  Vaughn is sweet and playful with the reserved disposition that middle age brings.  A pup that LOVES his walks, but only half as much as he loves his naps.   He's got a smidge of cattle dog in him as well and tends to be a bit mouthier and will herd his friends when he plays so an adult only home or a home with kids over 12 would be ideal.   If you think our little wallflower sounds like the dog for you, please contact his trainer (Kseniya) today at 847.338.3252 or info@redemptionroadinc.org  to schedule your private meet and greet. Story
🐾 Meet Kiwi! 🐾 Kiwi is a sweet, playful -1 year old brindle mix, weighing a healthy 75 lbs. She’s spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and ready to find her forever family! In her foster home, Kiwi has lived with older children and other dogs, and she fit right in. She’s had the chance to attend professional training, where she blossomed in obedience and socialization with other dogs. Kiwi loves to play with her canine friends and does great in spaces where she can explore and unwind. She’s also learned how to read other dogs’ cues, respecting their need for space when her energy gets a little high. Kiwi’s training has come along beautifully! Each session starts with fun activities like scent work or agility exercises. She’s a big fan of puzzles, scent boxes, and sniffing for treats—anything that gives her curious mind a workout. Here’s a bit more about Kiwi: Crate-trained – Kiwi sleeps through the night without a sound. Obedience – She knows "sit," "touch," "down," "roll," and more! Leash and Car – Great on a leash and a happy traveler. Personality – Gentle with kids, patient when taking treats, and respectful with other dogs. Kiwi is looking for an active, loving family who will give her plenty of chances to play and explore. Could Kiwi be the perfect match for your family? Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). . It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Applications will not be reviewed unless fully completed. An application does not commit you to adopting and does not guarantee adoption but does allow us to begin the review process. Please email adopt@safehavendogsIL.org for an application or additional details. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed. Safe Haven Dog Rescue reserves the right to refuse adoption of any dog or puppy to any applicant (adopter) for any reason.
