Story
Meet Boone Boone is an absolutely stunning young dog. We rescued him from a high kill shelter. We think Boone is a Plott hound mix, possibly Tennesee Treeing Hound based on his overall looks and ears. He came in to us as an older puppy and sadly, he is still with us after over three years. Boone is just over 4 years old and is 57 lbs of muscle and heart. Since arriving Boone has been a gentleman dog. He’s really friendly. He’s energetic, but it’s not frenetic activity. For such a young dog, he is polite and rather calm, especially considering how long he has been confined to a shelter. He walks great on a leash, and loves being out of his kennel to enjoy the companionship of his person. Boone will make for a great hiker. This breed is known for its stamina, endurance and agility. They can be all business and focused when working or engaged in training, but when at home they are mellow and enjoy the downtime. Boone is definitely a staff favorite and our hearts are broken that he has been with us so long. Boone is smart and alert. He will do best in an active home where he is physically and mentally occupied. He seems to like other dogs and seems to be cat friendly. Boone settles in and his personality comes out more every day. He is going to make for a wonderful companion and will be loyal to his people. If you are looking for a fun, sweet and active boy, not to mention incredibly handsome, Boone may be the one for you. If interested in Boone, please submit a dog application online at www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org Please call our shelter at 706-865-4135 or email us at smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net to let us know to be on the lookout. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.

Story
Meet Hallie This beautiful young dog is Hallie. Hallie ended up at a kill shelter when her owner got into trouble with the law. With no one to care for her, Hallie was taken to a kill shelter where she nearly received a death sentence through no fault of her own. Thankfully, she got a stay of execution when we rescued her and brought her to our no-kill shelter. We are so glad that we had room for her. Hallie is exceptional and deserves a second chance. Everyone who meets Hallie falls in love. Her pretty face and earnest eyes just melt your heart. All you want to do is make her feel safe and soothe her worries. Hallie is as gentle as they come. An innocent victim in a harsh world. She has a calm demeanor and a sweet personality. Hallie is housetrained, has beautiful manners and loves riding in a car. She loves going for walks but can pull a little. A gentle leader harness may help with this issue. Hallie loves people and dogs. She might really enjoy having another dog in the home. She loves being with her people and would welcome a home that loves and cherishes her, one where she feels safe. Life until now has been a little dodgy for this young pup. Hallie is three years old. She weighs about 50 lbs. She seems small for her size, probably because she is so quiet. Hallie is fully vetted. We’ll test her with cats for potential adopters. Hallie is a wonderful pup. If a family or person is looking for home-ready, lovely young dog to welcome to your heart and home, Hallie is about as perfect as they come. If interested in Hallie, please submit an application online at: https://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ Once an application is submitted online, you will receive an email saying your application has been successfully submitted. If you don’t receive this email within 24 hours, please check to make sure all application fields were completed or please call our shelter at 706-865-4135. Story
Lily is a beautiful young Plott Hound/Mix. She&#39s estimated to be around 1yr old, and weighs 33lbs. This sweet girl ended up at an overcrowded Atlanta shelter after she was running around a trailer park in Conyers, GA with her sister (Millie) and they were both picked up as strays. They both ended up very sick, and were at risk for euthanasia list before BarkVille Dog Rescue stepped up for them. Lily is now completely healthy and is ready to find her forever family! Due to her past, she is a little shy and fearful until she gets to know you. She is friendly with other dogs, and is crate trained and house trained. Lily has a medium energy level. She is working on her leash manners, and is learning her basic commands. Lily would love a home that would continue to help her gain confidence, and work on her basic training. She would also do well in a home with another friendly dog. Lily is spayed, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. If you&#39re interested in adopting this sweet girl, please email us at info@barkvilledogrescue.org or submit an application at https://www.barkvilledogrescue.org/applications. BarkVille is located in Roswell, GA and our dogs are available for foster/adoption in the Greater Atlanta area. Applicants in surrounding states could potentially adopt a BarkVille dog if their application is approved, they live within 2-3 hours of the Greater Atlanta area, and they are able to pick up their dog from the foster home.December 10, 2024, 2:49 pm

Story
Gertie is such a sweet dog that we got as a puppy at the Humane Society. She was born 2/12/2019 per her adoption papers. Good with other animals. Very playful. Loves to run around the backyard and catch balls at the river. Shes a great guard dog and will always let you know when there’s a visitor nearby. She can be a little overwhelming to very small kids because of her excited jumping at first but she’s been around my son regularly since he was around 6. Having to downsize from my house w a yard to a shared apartment w a friend due to financial problems and my film production schedule being too much of a roller coaster ride for her. She needs a yard and a family w older kids. Very house trained and will tell you she needs to go out. She’s the best cuddler I know and it breaks my heart to have to rehome her. She’s truly a great dog and we will miss her very much.
