Story
Meet Shadow Shadow is a beautiful Plott hound who's about a year old. She is wonderfully adorable. Shadow is a dark brindle girl. It’s hard to see how gorgeous her short-haired coat is in pictures, but in the sunshine it’s stunning. And then when she looks at you with her big brown eyes, your heart will melt. She is sweet, affectionate, energetic, friendly, curious, outgoing, and athletic. Shadow will do great in an active home with kids or with a person/people who love to go hiking, running, or take long walks in the neighborhood. She is up for most any activity. She walks well on a leash. She wants to go go go; some of that is being a puppy and some is being a Plott hound, always with a nose to the ground exploring. Shadow is smart and eager to please. Shadow loves playing with other dogs but sadly she gets a little too excited at feeding time so she will need to be the only dog in the home, at least until she can overcome this behavior with consistent training. She would love to spend some quality time at a dog park though! Exercising her will be important to for her physical and mental health. This girl is a social butterfly. Shadow will make for a wonderful companion. We’ve all fallen in love with her. She gives slow motion hugs when she's unsure of a new situation, and looks to her human companion for guidance and reassurance. She is a perfect age and ready to go. We expect her to be a medium size girl when she’s all grown up, not too big, but just right. If interested in giving Shadow a loving home and a second chance, please submit an application online at: www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org. Please email our shelter (smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net) to make sure we received your application. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually operates at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.

Story
Meet Boone Boone is an absolutely stunning young dog. We rescued him from a high kill shelter. We think Boone is a Plott hound mix, possibly Tennesee Treeing Hound based on his overall looks and ears. He came in to us as an older puppy and sadly, he is still with us after over five years. Boone is just over 5 1/2 years old and is 57 lbs of muscle and heart. Since arriving Boone has been a gentleman dog. He’s really friendly. He’s energetic, but it’s not frenetic activity. Boone is polite and rather calm, especially considering how long he has been confined to a shelter. He walks great on a leash, and loves being out of his kennel to enjoy the companionship of his person. Boone will make for a great hiker. This breed is known for its stamina, endurance and agility. They can be all business and focused when working or engaged in training, but when at home they are mellow and enjoy the downtime. Boone is definitely a staff favorite and our hearts are broken that he has been with us so long. Boone is smart and alert. He will do best in an active home where he is physically and mentally occupied. He seems to like other dogs and seems to be cat friendly. Boone settles in and his personality comes out more every day. He is going to make for a wonderful companion and will be loyal to his people. If you are looking for a fun, sweet and active boy, not to mention incredibly handsome, Boone may be the one for you. If interested in Boone, please submit an application on the homepage of this website www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org Please call our shelter at 706-865-4135 or email us at smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net to verify that we received your application. . 🏞 Meet Damon – Your Next Loyal Adventure Buddy 🐾 Looking for a dog who’s equal parts goofy best friend, outdoor adventurer, and loyal companion? Meet Damon, a stunning brindle Mountain Cur & Plott Hound mix who's been patiently waiting for his forever home… and he hopes it’s yours. Damon is a true guy’s guy — though he’s sweet with women, he really connects best with men and would love nothing more than to be your ride-or-die, whether it's in the front seat of your truck or beside you on a lakeside trail. 🚙🐾 He LOVES car rides and his tail doesn't stop wagging when the door opens. He’s a water lover through and through — the hose, a pool, a lake—if it splashes, Damon’s in. He’s also a champion ball player and will happily play tug with you until it's time to chill on the couch (which he’s also a big fan of). He’s got the energy to hike a mountain but also the heart to curl up with you after a long day. 🐶❤️ Damon is treat motivated, smart, curious, and would do awesome with continued training. A fenced-in yard would be ideal for this athletic boy to run, play, and explore. We have cat tested Damon and he doesn't react unless they run. Then it's game on. Please keep that in mind. Despite his long stay at the shelter, Damon hasn’t let it dull his light. He’s brave, funny, affectionate, and so ready to give all of his love to someone who’ll finally give him the home he deserves. His eyes will melt you, and his goofy grin will keep you smiling. If you're looking for a loyal, sweet, smart pup to be your forever sidekick, Damon is your guy. Let’s get him out of the shelter and into the loving home he’s been dreaming of. 📍 Damon is fully vetted, neutered, and ready to roll. 📩 Apply here to meet him: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/CPRG/Dog Let’s find this amazing boy the happy ending he’s waited so long for. 💛
