Story
Meet Boone Boone is an absolutely stunning young dog. We rescued him from a high kill shelter. We think Boone is a Plott hound mix, possibly Tennesee Treeing Hound based on his overall looks and ears. He came in to us as an older puppy and sadly, he is still with us after over three years. Boone is just over 4 years old and is 57 lbs of muscle and heart. Since arriving Boone has been a gentleman dog. He’s really friendly. He’s energetic, but it’s not frenetic activity. For such a young dog, he is polite and rather calm, especially considering how long he has been confined to a shelter. He walks great on a leash, and loves being out of his kennel to enjoy the companionship of his person. Boone will make for a great hiker. This breed is known for its stamina, endurance and agility. They can be all business and focused when working or engaged in training, but when at home they are mellow and enjoy the downtime. Boone is definitely a staff favorite and our hearts are broken that he has been with us so long. Boone is smart and alert. He will do best in an active home where he is physically and mentally occupied. He seems to like other dogs and seems to be cat friendly. Boone settles in and his personality comes out more every day. He is going to make for a wonderful companion and will be loyal to his people. If you are looking for a fun, sweet and active boy, not to mention incredibly handsome, Boone may be the one for you. If interested in Boone, please submit a dog application online at www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org Please call our shelter at 706-865-4135 or email us at smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net to let us know to be on the lookout. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.

Story
Meet Hallie This beautiful young dog is Hallie. Hallie ended up at a kill shelter when her owner got into trouble with the law. With no one to care for her, Hallie was taken to a kill shelter where she nearly received a death sentence through no fault of her own. Thankfully, she got a stay of execution when we rescued her and brought her to our no-kill shelter. We are so glad that we had room for her. Hallie is exceptional and deserves a second chance. Everyone who meets Hallie falls in love. Her pretty face and earnest eyes just melt your heart. All you want to do is make her feel safe and soothe her worries. Hallie is as gentle as they come. An innocent victim in a harsh world. She has a calm demeanor and a sweet personality. Hallie is housetrained, has beautiful manners and loves riding in a car. She loves going for walks but can pull a little. A gentle leader harness may help with this issue. Hallie loves people and dogs. She might really enjoy having another dog in the home. She loves being with her people and would welcome a home that loves and cherishes her, one where she feels safe. Life until now has been a little dodgy for this young pup. Hallie is three years old. She weighs about 50 lbs. She seems small for her size, probably because she is so quiet. Hallie is fully vetted. We’ll test her with cats for potential adopters. Hallie is a wonderful pup. If a family or person is looking for home-ready, lovely young dog to welcome to your heart and home, Hallie is about as perfect as they come. If interested in Hallie, please submit an application online at: https://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ Once an application is submitted online, you will receive an email saying your application has been successfully submitted. If you don’t receive this email within 24 hours, please check to make sure all application fields were completed or please call our shelter at 706-865-4135. Story
Meet Mango, a young bundle of joy overflowing with sweetness and friendliness. Her smart, playful nature is contagious, filling any room with an energetic, goofy vibe. Mango's curiosity is her charm, making every day an adventure. She's housetrained and has a special fondness for older kids, making her a perfect family companion. Mango can be selective with her canine friends, so a meet-and-greet with any potential dog siblings would be a good idea. She likes playing with other dogs after a slow introduction, but her social skills need work. She would do well with a tolerant dog sibling whop can help her learn to be more polite. She's ready to fill a loving home with joy, laughter, and lots of tail wags. Her foster describes her as a "medium Velcro dog, meaning she wants to be around her people but won't follow you from room to room. Mango has a high activity level but will settle when her needs are met. She is very adept at escaping fences, but won't do so when she gets enough play time/exercise. Mango is ready to add a dash of fun and a dollop of love to your life. Her vibrant personality and love for life make her the perfect addition to any home looking for a four-legged friend who is sure to keep them on their toes while also offering unconditional love and companionship. Mango is approximately 2 years old (est. birth date 03/18/2022), weighs 54lbs, and her adoption fee is $175. Mango has been spayed, is up to date on all vaccinations & preventatives, and is microchipped. If you want to know more about Mango, please complete a survey at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FKDS/Dog. At this time, meeting our dogs is by appointment only. After submitting a survey, an adoption counselor will contact you within 72 hours to give you more information about the dog you are interested in adopting and to arrange for you to meet. Must be at least 21 years of age to adopt.
