Meet Gunner! Hes a very active, intelligent, sensitive boy who loves cuddles, long walks and chasing his squeaky cube. Speaking of cubes, he loves his nightly ice cubes too! Choosing to rehome him has been an immensely difficult decision for us, but we feel it is the best decision for our him and our family. Unfortunately we are just not as active as we thought and do not have enough time to dedicate to exercising him with our 3 very young kids. Gunner is a fast learner and can pick up on new things VERY quickly and is food motivated. He loves running, playing fetch and tug-o-war, and last but certainly not least - butt scratches. Gunner is not the most social dog, but with proper introduction can successfully meet new people and other dogs. His perfect home would be with someone who has older (or no) children, other dogs in the home, lots of space or time to dedicate to exercise and continue training and maybe possibly doesnt mind cuddles in bed. Say Howdy to Daryl and Jessie! Their owner had to surrender them after an unexpected medical condition left him unable to care for them. This bonded pair are only a year apart, and have been raised together since puppyhood so we really want to keep them together! He’s a little bit country and she’s a little bit rock-n-roll, but they go together like peas and carrots! Daryl is a laid-back, handsome brindle with a sweet, calm demeanor, and gives the best dog hugs ever! The true hound that he is, he loves long walks with his nose to the ground or in the air to make sure those pesky squirrels stay up in the trees. But don’t let him fool you, he has a funny, mischievous side as well. If his nose can reach it, his mouth can eat it, but only when you’re not looking. While Daryl is happy moseying along, Jessie’s ready to put the pedal to the metal. She puts the “sass” in sassafras! When this girl gets excited, clear the floor, ‘cause she likes to dance like no one’s watching! This little fashionista somehow matched her eyes to her coat, she’s a real beauty! But there’s nothing she loves more than snuggling up with you on the couch. That is, once you move her over an inch and squeeze in beside her. She’s not giving up her spot easily! They may be polar opposites, but they agree that they are looking for somebody with a lot of love to give…and treats(bones)…and cuddles…and belly/butt rubs and, oh yeah, a big yard would be great because, well, they’re not the best on leash, but they’re getting better! Hello there, I'm Cletus. I was found roaming. I will be on a 5 day stray hold until 9/30 in case my owners come forward. I'm around 10 years old and look to be a Plott Hound/Heeler mix but the shelter doesn't know for sure. I've been around the block a few times, seen a thing or two. I'm an old soul, calm as a summer breeze. I enjoy slow walks, sunbathing, and a good belly rub. I'm all about companionship and taking it easy. I'm a friend who'll be by your side, a steady presence to brighten your days. If you're looking for a faithful friend with a gentle spirit, I'm your guy. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2188498##
