Story
She is a wonderful baby who would do absolutely amazing in a home with no other pets and someone who wants a very loyal dog and isn’t afraid to groom her often. Her story: We acquired Maggie in an attempt to find her new home so my parents wont have to continue caring for her after their other pets had gone, since this was not originally their dog. She is a sweet girl!!! She makes a great “guard dog” since she’ll alert you when strangers arrive. She would definitely need a (physically) fenced in backyard with room to roam, our underground fence sometimes isn’t enough to keep her in but as long as she’s supervised she’s absolutely fine. She loves undivided attention, lots of treats, big bones and getting brushed. Her favorite toys are chew toys and squeaker toys. Not 100% sure on how she would do around other dogs, so possibly no other pets, unless you’d like to bring one to meet her first. Not sure on potty training also as she’s never been inside except kenneled at night.

Story
Sienna is a beautiful 2-year old female Husky/Shepherd mix who was brought to the HSOV on December 30, 2024 by a Good Samaritan who found her in the vicinity of Fourth Street in Marietta Ohio. Sienna was not wearing a collar, and she was not microchipped. Sienna has a tan short smooth coat with cream-colored highlights, a long tail, and an adorable face with bi-colored eyes, a slender muzzle with black shading and a dusting of white with cute black freckles. She has short semi-erect ears. Sienna's left eye is brown and her right eye is blue .. which gives her a unique facial appearance. This lovely girl has a super friendly, outgoing personality. Sienna loved attention from HSOV Volunteer Angel Grosklos who spent time with her in lobby of our shelter for photos on New Year's Day since the frigid weather was not conducive to taking outdoor pictures that day. Sienna made the most of her time with Angel and especially loved their "couch time' which Sienna enjoyed immensely .. And she gave Angel some sweet 'puppy kisses' as thanks for showering her with attention. Sienna was a little too busy socializing that afternoon to step on the scales, but she likely weighs 50 lbs or so. Update: Sienna weighed 56 lbs during her intake procedures. Sienna's photos were posted on our HSOV Facebook pages the day she arrived. We had hoped that someone would recognize her and help us reunite Sienna with her family .. But nobody called or came looking for this beautiful girl.

Story
This cute little guy (Wile E. Coyote) was brought to the HSOV on June 19, 2024 by a Good Samaritan who had found him the previous day on Oakwood Avenue in Marietta Ohio and tried in vain to locate his family. Wile E. Coyote was wearing a collar with a partial tie-out/leash attached but there was neither an id tag nor a dog license tag on his collar .. And he was not microchipped. And in case you are wondering, there were no sightings of The Road Runner in the vicinity where Wile E. Coyote was found (smile). Wile E. Coyote is a 10-month old male German Shepherd mix. He has a black-and-brown/tan short smooth coat with white highlights on his chest, a long tail, and an adorable face with beautiful brown eyes, a tan mask, and large erect ears. This young man appears to have a happy, outgoing personality. These photos were taken on June 21, 2024 when Wile E. was enjoying some fresh air in one of our covered/shaded outdoor kennels. The afternoon temperatures that day reached 95 degrees which was much too hot/humid for photos in our usual grassy area (which is in direct sunshine), so the better part of valor (and common sense) dictated that we'd settle for a less-than-perfect backdrop in order to be able to post pictures of this little sweetheart. Wile E. Coyote weighs 46 lbs and isn't a very large boy when you see him in person. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Wile E. Coyote will be held for three days so that his family will have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Since he was not reclaimed, Wile E. Coyote was neutered on August 5, 2024 and was also given rabies vaccine. Wile E. Coyote was adopted on August 20, 2024. Wile E. Coyote was returned to HSOV on February 11, 2025 since he had become an escape artist who acquired a taste for poultry and could not be trusted with neighborhood chickens. Wile E. is looking for an appropriate new home where he would have no contact with chickens or other feathered friends .. And he needs to learn to return home when his owner/family calls him back.
