Story
This handsome guy is Bear. Bear is approximately 1-1/2 years old and believed to be a shepherd mix. He has the exact look and personality traits of the Berger Picard, a rare French shepherd type dog. He is currently 42 pounds but needs to gain a couple more. Bear is such a lovebug and just the sweetest boy. He loves everyone and wants to be close to his people. Bear loves chew bones, toys, lots of treats and loves to play with the dogs in his foster home. He plays a little rough with the dogs as he is just learning how to play with other dogs. He is doing better every day with some correction. We are unsure how Bear would do with cats as there are no cats in his foster home. Bear does pretty well with the basic commands sit, stay, no, come, off, down and heel. He loves to please, especially if treats are involved. He walks well on leash with a harness and some reminders. Bear is kennel trained but doesn’t like being in the kennel when his people are around. He appears to be potty trained with no accidents in his foster home, however, his foster dad is home during the day and keeps Bear on a consistent potty schedule. Bear sleeps all night in his foster parents room on a doggie bed and doesn’t make a peep. Of course, he would rather sleep in the bed with them if it was allowed. There have been no issues with Bear chewing on things that are not his, however, he has tried counter-surfing a couple of times. We are currently working to correct his counter-surfing. Bear is an excellent boy, but will need attention, continued training and consistency to grow into an amazing family companion. Bear’s adoption fee is $300 and covers his neuter, vaccines including rabies, microchip registration and heartworm and flea preventatives to date.
