Story
DOB 8-Aug-2025 Starfruit is being fostered at one of Toronto Cat Rescue’s pet store partner locations. Please note that if you’re approved to adopt, you’ll need to pick them up from the store within 24 hours of being approved. Starfruit is a gorgeous calico Persian kitten with fur that is white, grey and a muted orange. Starfruit is a bit shy at first, but once she warms up she likes lots of pets and a good brushing, which is so important for a kitty with long fur. Starfruit gets along with other cats, especially her friend Mango, who arrived at the centre at the same time she did. You can find them huddled together, looking for kitty snuggles from each other. Given it may take time for Starfruit to warm up and get comfortable, it's best that she goes to a home that is calm, which will allow her time to get used to her surroundings. If you are looking for a sweet kitty to welcome to your home, Starfruit is your girl!

Story
When Jewel’s owner passed away, a friend of Jewel’s owner took her in. In the few weeks the friend had her, Jewel wasn’t using the litter box, so the friend brought her to Hamilton Animal Services. The friend did not give much information about Jewel, other than she was 11 years old and spayed. We wanted to give this sweet, purry persian a chance, so we took her into our care and she went straight to the vet for a health check, and much needed dental surgery. Blood and urine tests came back normal, but xrays showed that Jewel was suffering from arthritis. This was likely the cause of her litter box issues. She was started on pain medication to help her feel more comfortable. It was also noted that Jewel has a slight head tilt and a bit of a wobble when she walks. It doesn’t seem to trouble her, but she was put on medication to see if it would help. Jewel has been using her litter box perfectly since she came into our care. Her foster family provided her with a litter box made from a rubbermaid bin with the front wall cut down so she can walk right in. That, and the injectable pain meds for her arthritis seem to have done the trick! Jewel’s forever home should speak to their vet about continuing the injectable medication for arthritis so she can continue to live pain free. Though Jewel is less wobbly on her feet now, she still has moderate balance issues and doesn’t like to be up off the ground. To keep her safe, she’ll need a home where there are not a lot of stairs. Keeping her food and water on the floor as opposed to on a table would be best for her. A tray under her food helps to keep things a bit cleaner, as she can be a messy eater. She has a bowl of dry food to graze on whenever she likes, and she gets canned food every morning that she devours. She really likes canned food! A small ulcer on Jewel’s lip was biopsied, and it turned out to be an eosinophilic granuloma. The exact cause of EG is unknown, but research suggests that it is a form of allergic response. We don’t know what caused Jewel’s case, but the ulcer is now gone and she hasn’t had any reoccurrence. Jewel is a sweetheart of a cat. She loves to be petted and has a very happy purr. If you aren’t petting her enough, she will reach out and tap you to remind you. It’s the cutest thing! She isn’t thrilled about being picked up, and she prefers to sit beside you for pets as opposed to on your lap. She can be vocal when she wants attention. She likes to play with her mouse toy and will chase the string on a wand toy. She has a couple of favourite beds that her foster family would be happy to pass along to her new home – as well as her modified litter box. She is currently using Fresh 4 Life Pellet litter. Though she does like to be brushed, Jewel’s fur can quickly become matted and tangled, so hew new people will need to keep up with frequent brushing, and professional grooming when required. Other cats are not Jewel’s thing, so a home without them would be best. She has not been around dogs since coming into our care, so we don’t know how she would be with them. A quiet home where she can live out her days in peace and where she can get lots of pets would be ideal. Please adopt Jewel! Visit ladybirdanimalsanctuary.com to apply

Story
Once upon a time (very recently, actually), a 5–6 year old Persian named Kimchi arrived looking like he had been…well…fermenting. True to his name, this poor guy seemed to be slowly “aging to perfection” inside a severely matted coat that had taken on a life of its own. The mats were so tight and heavy that moving comfortably was difficult. Our sweet boy wasn’t thriving — he was marinating. But every good fermentation story has a transformation moment! Kimchi received an immediate shave-down, and while his current haircut can best be described as “modern art meets lion chic,” he is clearly feeling so much better. Underneath all that tangled fluff was a gentle, soulful little man just waiting for relief. Kimchi is understandably a bit nervous right now. Being picked up can make him panic slightly — life hasn’t always felt safe or comfortable for him. But here’s the beautiful part: even with his worries, Kimchi quietly pleads for gentle attention. He leans in for soft face rubs, and when you move slowly and kindly, his resilient spirit shines through. You can almost see him thinking, “I want to trust you… I’m trying.” This sweet Persian will need a patient, understanding home that will give him time to decompress and learn that humans are, in fact, wonderful. He’ll also need a committed grooming routine — regular brushing (and professional grooming when needed) will be essential to make sure he never becomes “Kimchi the Fermented Floof” again. With consistency, compassion, and a good brush, Kimchi has all the potential to blossom into a devoted, affectionate companion. Beneath the quirky haircut and cautious exterior is a tender heart just waiting to fully unfold. If you’re ready to help this brave boy write his fresh new chapter — one filled with comfort, care, and zero mats — Kimchi is ready to meet you. Visit him at our adoption partner, PetSmart. The address is 1779 Stone Church Road East, Stoney Creek. **Please note: we only adopt within Ontario.

Story
Hey I'm ty, I have this cute little shy boy named Grinch. When I got his brother the owner asked me to hold onto him while she was moving, then she never got back to me, I unfortunately can't do 3 cats with having 2 kids. He's not very good with the other 2 He's extremely reserved, he's definitely suitable for a person with no young kids or other pets. I don't have much information on him because he was kinda dropped on my lap. I want him to be loved and taken care of, he's extremely shy. He isn't happy at all. He hides alot and he loves his water fountain. Please help me find this beautiful little boy a new home. Free of charge I just want him to go somewhere where he will get all the attention he deserves

Story
My fiance and I are unfortunately moving to a building which does not allow pets. We have had Romeo since birth, he is a very smart, loyal, and calm 4 year old boy. He has been around other pets and normally keeps to himself. He is a feisty boy who loves to play. Our goal is to find a family that is willing and capable to take care of him. He is a healthy neutered boy but has previously had urinary concerns with a very low possibility of reoccurrence based on the vet. He just needs to eat Urinary cat food and he is okay. Never seemed to have issues after changing his diet.
