Story
Penelope is a sweet, gentle girl with a calm, quiet personality. She’s independent and not a lap cat, but enjoys being nearby and loves cozy, warm spots like heated blankets and heating pads. She would do best in a peaceful home and would likely thrive as the only cat. She has a beautiful long coat and takes excellent care of her fur, with no history of matting. She does require regular brushing and occasional grooming due to hairballs. She is exceptionally well-behaved during grooming - very patient and gentle, with no hissing, biting, or swatting. Penelope loves clean litter boxes and has a history of occasional UTIs, so she needs an attentive owner and a consistent routine. She enjoys laser pointer play, eats dry kibble (1/4 cup twice daily), prefers pate wet food mixed with water if offered, and is great about drinking fresh water. Also, sweet P was a rescue and was unfortunately declawed from a previous owner.

Khaleesi is a beautiful ragdoll Persian mix. I’ve had her since birth. She is 3 years old, a very loving sweet girl. I have a very busy schedule and I’m just not able to give her the love she deserves. I also have her daughter who is 1 yr old.

Gypsy has specific needs and will thrive best in a home that matches her calm and gentle nature, so applications will be considered based on how well those needs are met. Meet Gypsy: This sensitive girl who feels most comfortable in quiet, predictable environments. Gypsy does best in a peaceful home with adults only and prefers low activity levels and minimal stimulation. Gypsy observes the world quietly and enjoys companionship that is calm and respectful rather than hands-on. She is very laid back and not particularly playful, finding joy instead in soft beds, quiet corners, and simply sharing space. Gypsy is not a cuddler, but she appreciates a gentle presence nearby. She is happiest as the only pet, though she may do well with one calm, respectful cat over six years old who understands and honors her need for space. Homes with dogs are not a good fit.  Gypsy can be cautious with new people and situations and will need time to feel safe in her new home. With patience and understanding, she slowly builds trust, and once she does, her gentle presence is incredibly rewarding. Her beautiful heterochromia—two different colored eyes—adds to her unique and delicate charm. Gypsy is looking for a patient, emotionally attuned adopter who values quiet companionship and is willing to let a bond develop naturally and at her pace. If your home is calm and your heart is patient, Gypsy may be a wonderful match for you. Applicants must live within a two-hour drive of Chicago. These animals are not located in any of the Society`s physical locations. As this is a Home-to-Home animal you are not required to fill out an Anti-Cruelty Society adoption application form. *** The animal’s behavior around other pets; the cat has not really been around other pets. Our neighbor has cats and when they walk outside my cat - Nightcrawler - will just stare at them from the window. She`s curious but she doesn`t interact with other animals. The animal’s behavior around children; she`s okay. It depends on her mood. She doesn`t do well with being grabbed a lot. My kids are 1.5 and 4.5 years. We supervise them if they are near the cat because my kids tend to grab the cat a lot, and she doesn`t like that. I would recommend this cat for kids 7-10 years or older. Any past or existing health issues that the animal has had; not that I am aware of. However, our vet mentioned that the cat will need work done on her teeth/gums soon. Any medication the animal may currently be taking; none.Any dietary restrictions that the animal may have; none.The animal’s training history (especially whether or not the animal is housebroken); the cat uses a litter box.
