Story
Meet Sandy
Name: Sandy
Age: 3 years
Sex: Spayed Female
Breed: Welsh Corgi
Color: Brown & White
Weight: 8.5 kg
Height (shoulder): 32 cm
Rescue Story
In August 2025, Sandy was found wandering the streets and was reported by a local resident. She was brought to a police station and then transferred to a municipal shelter. At the time of rescue, she was wearing a chain-type collar, suggesting she may have lived outdoors rather than inside a home.
Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for Pembroke Welsh Corgis (especially docked ones) to be purchased as puppies and later abandoned due to shedding or energy levels. Sandy is one of those dogs who deserves a second chance at a loving forever home.
Socialization with People
Sandy may appear slightly shy when meeting someone for the first time—she tends to observe rather than approach right away. However, once she gets to know you, she transforms into a very affectionate and loving Corgi who will lean into you and even jump into your arms.
She tends to prefer men slightly more than women. She can be picked up comfortably by placing an arm under her belly. Even when handled by strangers (such as nail trimming), she tolerates it well without any biting, though she may try to squirm a bit due to her strength.
Once bonded, she happily rolls over and shows her belly for rubs
Socialization with Other Dogs
Sandy is more people-oriented than dog-oriented. She will greet unfamiliar dogs politely but does not actively seek to play with them.
She may feel slightly intimidated by larger dogs but is generally friendly toward dogs of similar or smaller size. Even if another dog provokes her, she tends to avoid conflict. When people are present, she shows little interest in other dogs.
With Cats
Not yet tested, but a cat test can be arranged upon request.
Energy Level
Moderate energy. She enjoys outdoor activities but settles down nicely and rests calmly afterward.
Walks
Sandy does have her own preferences on where she’d like to go, but she often looks back at her handler as if asking, “Can I go this way?”—which is incredibly endearing.
She does not pull excessively and follows her handler well.
Additional Notes
• No resource guarding toward people or other dogs
• Generally quiet, but may show some demand barking when excited (e.g., mealtime)
• Initially may bark in a kennel, but settles down quickly and rests calmly
• Currently trained for both pee pad and outdoor potty
Sandy is a sweet, affectionate, and well-balanced girl who will thrive in a home that can give her love, structure, and companionship. She is ready to find her forever family!
