Story
Meet Monday! Wednesday is a 12 week old corgi mix who was saved from a commercial breeding facility in Lancaster county due not being sold quickly enough. Sadly, this happens all the time due to the alarmingly high amount of dogs that puppy mills are constantly producing. It is simply easier for them to give the older puppies up as they don't care how much they use and abuse their breeding mothers, making them produce litter after litter. As with all dogs we save from puppy mills, they will need a family who is understanding and prepared to work through a period of transition with them as they learn to live in a house and around people. They will need time to trust their new family before working on training, such as house training. This should go without saying, but we require all our animals to be trained using positive reinforcement methods ONLY. Puppy mill dogs tend to do best in a home without young children as well (10+), though this determination is made on a case by case basis. These are very intelligent and high energy working breed dogs and will require a very active family up to the task of providing them the ample physical and mental exercise they require. Herding breed experience is strongly preferred. If you are interested in being considered for them please apply on our website at www.angelsretreat.org

Story
We discovered Ein in a shopping cart at 8-weeks old. He has always loved people. But even at 12 yrs old, he still loves to chase, go on hikes, and wag his tail for attention. He'll lie by your feet when you're on the sofa or bed. He knows commands including sit, lie down, heel, leave it, speak, shake, hi-five. We try not to ask him to roll over anymore because he has trouble with his tiny legs and old age. He has two torn LCLs in his hind legs. But he still moves great. However, he is pretty sensitive about anyone assertively touching him there. He's never had accidents at home and he won't dare rip up any of your possessions, though he loves to gently carry your clothes around if you happen to leave them on the floor. He has a great food drive so can be taught new tricks for treats. An ideal rehoming would not have kids under 10 or other small dogs. I can offer guaranteed dogsitting and some walks if local. He still has a lot of smiles and love to give in his final years.
