Story
Introducing… the rare and majestic PoloBear 🧸 Part corgi, part teddy bear, part tiny drunken sailor 😂. Polo may come with a little wobble, but he also comes with the biggest heart imaginable. This one-year-old boy is equal parts adventure buddy, cuddle bug, and certified Velcro dog. Polo absolutely ADORES men and thrives around respectful kids who understand his mobility needs. He wants nothing more than to be included in every part of family life whether that’s hanging with dad on the couch, supervising yard time, or proudly waddling alongside his people on an adventure. And honestly? Once you meet him, it’s impossible not to fall in love. Polo came into rescue after being surrendered to a shelter with suspected IVDD. Thankfully, he was pulled into rescue and placed with a medical foster so he could begin receiving the rehabilitative care he desperately needed. After evaluation which included an MRI, Polo was diagnosed with a herniated disc at T12-T13. Additional degeneration was seen in other areas of his spine, although those areas are not currently causing symptoms. At this time, surgery is not necessary, and Polo is doing wonderfully with conservative management and rehabilitation. So what exactly is IVDD? IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease) is a spinal condition commonly seen in Corgis and other long-backed breeds. The discs between the vertebrae can degenerate or rupture, causing pain, weakness, mobility issues, and in severe cases, paralysis. Some dogs require surgery, while others can successfully manage their condition through rehabilitation, physical therapy, acupuncture, careful lifestyle management, and monitoring. For Polo, IVDD means he may always have a little wobble when he walks but honestly, it just makes him even more lovable. ❤️ Polo will need to remain a “floor dog” for the rest of his life. That means:
 🐾 No stairs
🐾 No jumping on or off furniture
🐾 Careful monitoring for any worsening symptoms
🐾 Ongoing rehabilitation therapies to help keep him stable and comfortable The good news? Polo absolutely thrives with his current care plan.He currently attends:
✨ Bi- weekly physical therapy with Head2Tail Mobility
✨ Acupuncture treatments with Pathways to Wellness Because of these ongoing therapies, we are specifically looking for a forever home within the South Jersey area so his adopter can continue the incredible progress he’s been making with the veterinary rehabilitation teams who know and love him. And here’s something truly special: Polo’s rehabilitation care will be covered for life through CorgiAid’s CorgiCare Program. This amazing program will help his future family manage the expenses related to his IVDD care. CorgiCare will cover:
❤️50% of eligible expenses related to Polo’s disc hernia and spinal condition, including:
 -Physical therapy
 -Acupuncture
-Exams related to his condition ❤️ Once the adopter has paid $1,000 out of pocket, CorgiCare will then cover 100% of eligible expenses moving forward. This support system gives Polo’s future family the ability to focus less on financial stress and more on helping him live his best life. And trust us Polo knows how to live life to the fullest. Despite everything he has been through, he remains comfortable, joyful, curious, and endlessly loving. He doesn’t let his wobble slow him down. He still wants adventures. He still wants love. He still wants to be included in all the little moments that make up family life. His foster mom says he is “the best dog she’s ever known,” and anyone who meets him quickly understands why. Polo is:
✔️ One year old
✔️ Neutered
✔️ Up to date on all vetting
✔️ Loves men and respectful kiddos
✔️ Full of personality and love
✔️ Always smiling What Polo needs now is someone willing to see beyond his diagnosis and recognize the incredible dog standing in front of them. He may wobble, but he keeps going. He may need accommodations, but he never stops loving. Polo deserves a family who will love him every step of the way. ❤️ Apply today on our website: www.sjcorgirescue.org/adopt

Story
WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.NAME: HazyBREED: Pembroke Welsh CorgiDOB: Jul 9, 2018 (7 years 9 months)GENDER: femaleHome Recommendation: This sweet, gentle girl would thrive in a calm and patient home that understands she is still building her confidence. A quieter home, possibly with older children or adults, would allow her to continue blossoming at her own pace. With love, encouragement, and gentle guidance, she will grow into a confident and affectionate companion who brings a lot of joy to her forever family.Personality: Hazy can be a bit timid at first and may feel scared in new situations, so shell do best with a family willing to give her time, reassurance, and a steady routine to help her feel safe. Once she begins to settle in, her curious and playful side starts to shine. She happily explores her surroundings little by little and enjoys running around the dining roomKIDS: Yes 8+DOGS: YesCATS: Unknown, but cat test can be done for approved adoptersTraining: Hazy is currently at the very beginning of her training journey and is slowly learning about the world around her. She shows no issues with other pets and tends to be shy, timid, and very submissive in her interactions. She finds comfort in her crate and sees it as a safe space, though she does enjoy spending time out of it when she feels comfortable. She is completely new to leash walking and the outdoors, so everything is still unfamiliarshe isnt walking on leash just yet but will benefit from patience, encouragement, and gradual exposure. She is also working on house training, with a routine of going outside every few hours to help her learn. With consistency, gentle guidance, and positive reinforcement, she will continue to build confidence and make steady progress.WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Puppy mills overbreed to the point where they produce more dogs than they can sell. Dogs like Hazy were rejected for reasons ranging from birth defects, being born with the wrong color fur or eyes, or just simply because no one wanted to purchase them. When the dogs are not sold, the puppy mills destroy them, and it is legal to do so. WISE has recently partnered with a group to save these unwanted dogs - healthy, unhealthy, and/or with birth defects - who are destined to be killed for no reason.Visit WiseAnimalRescue.org to fill out an adoption application.Adoption areas include: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maine, Vermont, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire.
