Among the most agreeable of all small housedogs, the Pembroke Welsh Corgi is a strong, athletic, and lively little herder who is affectionate and companionable without being needy. They are one the world's most popular herding breeds. At 10 to 12 inches at the shoulder and 27 to 30 pounds, a well-built male Pembroke presents a big dog in a small package. Short but powerful legs, muscular thighs, and a deep chest equip him for a hard day's work. Built long and low, Pembrokes are surprisingly quick and agile. They can be red, sable, fawn, and black and tan, with or without white markings. The Pembroke is a bright, sensitive dog who enjoys play with his human family and responds well to training. As herders bred to move cattle, they are fearless and independent. They are vigilant watchdogs, with acute senses and a 'big dog' bark. Families who can meet their bold but kindly Pembroke's need for activity and togetherness will never have a more loyal, loving pet. Be ready to adopt. I've been asked to help find a home for Teddei, an 11.5 year old male Pembroke who has been diagnosed with "moments" of dementia. Here is his caregiver's narrative followed by photos. "Teddei is an 11 1/2 YO tri colored Pembroke corgi. He has been an only dog in the home since he was 8 weeks. He developed onset dementia last fall and its been absolutely heartbreaking. He needs someone to be home with him all the time. Preferably in a quiet environment without kids or other pets. Given his age he doesn’t really care for other dogs or animals. In his old age, he doesn’t get along with other dogs. He just had a vet visit last week and his enzyme levels were low in his liver so he is on liver supplements that he needs to take daily. Other than that, he’s been absolutely healthy. He needs a loving home with lots of human petting and a quiet area to hang. He loves to sit in the sun and go on walks. He has a huge personality and the biggest smile. He loves to be chased and loves a good cow ear to chew on. Occasionally he also enjoys a pup cup or a nice shredded chicken topping on his kibble. He definitely won’t say no to a bully stick chew."

Liam is a rescue. He came in as a stray to the San Pedro Harbor Shelter, San Pedro, CA. He had significant periodontal issues with flea dematitis. All that has been vetted and he is 100% ready for a forever home. He is microchipped, is a dream at the groomer's and crate and house trained. He is great with the small dogs in the foster home as well as a medium size female dog. He is a cross between a Cardigan and a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. He is a blue merle tricolor with blue eyes. Beautiful coat. He weighs about 36 lbs. He travels wonderfully in a car and is not a heavy duty barker. He does like his meals for sure. He will require some obedience training as far as walking slowly on a leash. He tends to pull. He has a soft mouth and takes treats daintly. Adoption requiremnts and PLEASE READ: Limited to an adopter(s) who have owned corgis or corgi mixes or herding dogs. Will only place in a home with older children 15 and up. Areas for adoption are: All of Orange County and most of Los Angeles. Email for a pre adopt ap and a meet greet would be done at a local park in Torrance, CA once the ap is reviewed. Two week trial period and homeck is necessary after a meet/greet.
