ADOPT ME ONLINE: https://ophrescue.org/dogs/13958Meet Uncle Morton – A Sweet, Toy-Loving Lap Dog Looking for His Forever Home!Name: Uncle MortonGender: MaleBreed: Pekingese MixAge: 4 yearsWeight: 13.4 lbs (as of 10/10)Current Location: Lusby, MDAbout Uncle MortonHello! I’m Uncle Morton, a 4-year-old Pekingese mix who came all the way from Alabama to find my forever family. At just over 13 pounds, I may be small, but I have a big personality filled with sweetness, playfulness, and love.PersonalityMy foster mom says I’m the nicest little guy! I love to start my mornings by diving into my pile of small stuffed toys—choosing the best one to kick off the day is a serious job, after all! Toss them in the air, and I’ll happily chase them down, bringing them to wherever I feel like playing. When playtime winds down, I’m all about the snuggles. I’ll either curl up in a warm lap, hang out at your feet, or follow you around to keep you company. I love giving sweet kisses as a thank-you for the affection!Energy Level & Play StyleI’m playful but easygoing and happy to entertain myself when needed. While I enjoy a good play session with toys or a bit of chase, I also settle well and am content just being near my people. My foster family says I’m great with visitors and not particularly interested in other dogs or cats, so I’d fit nicely in a home where I’m the center of attention.Skills and TrainingI’m mostly potty-trained, though I still need gentle reminders now and then. I’m also learning the ropes with the leash—it’s a bit new to me, and I sometimes just sit and stare, but I’m open to learning with some patience and guidance. I’m okay with the crate and understand it’s sometimes necessary, although I’m happiest outside of it. My foster mom says I’m pretty much turn-key, ready to settle in with a new family who can help me with the leash and maybe let me enjoy my freedom outside the crate when I’m being a good boy.CompanionshipIf you’re looking for a gentle, loyal companion, I might be the perfect fit. I’m great with new faces and even ignore cats, so I’d do well in a variety of home environments. I enjoy visitors, love following my people around, and don’t mind a busy environment—I take car noises and other background sounds in stride.Love and AffectionIf you need a lap warmer who adores snuggling and will follow you around with love and devotion, I’m your guy. I’m a little charmer with a playful streak and will fill your days with joy, companionship, and sweet kisses.-----Please note: This dog tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving to the rescue. The disease was treated while in foster care. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable.
