Story
Sweet Krista was brought to one of our vets to be euthanized due to her beloved person passing away. Sadly no family wanted her. Thankfully the vet refused and contacted our rescue to see if we could help. Of course we said yes! Krista i feel has had a more difficult time dealing with the loss of her person than her canine housemate Duffy also listed on our site. She just seems somewhat sad and withdrawn so it make take her more time to adjust to a new situation. On the other hand, she may just be waiting for her own person and her own home to relax and show her real self. Right now she is one of many fosters. Krista is definitely an easy keeper however. She is housebroken and walks great on a leash. She is probably around 8 years old and weighs only about 17 lbs. She will make a great lap warmer given half the chance. Krista would prefer to be the only dog in the home unless you might also consider adopting Duffy who was her housemate for many years. Krista would enjoy a more quiet home and will be happy to window watch and alert you to any concerns. I absolutely adore this girl!

Story
Little Fozzie is ready for a family! This 10-year-old Pekingese is looking for a cozy retirement home where he can be loved and spoiled. Fozzie is an adorable 13-pound gentleman with a perma-wink and big personality. He loves to be held and is happiest when he's with his people, snuggling on the couch or sleeping on the bed. He's fine with other dogs, but would do best with a calm companion who respects his space and won't jump all over him. He can get possessive of his food, so he'll need to be fed separately from other pets. Fozzie has been through quite a bit and has handled it all like a champ. He came to us with elevated liver values, so we started him on supplements. He recently underwent surgery to remove a mass on his liver. He also had surgery to remove a ruptured eye and a dental procedure where 16 teeth were extracted. He is feeling much better now that his mouth and eye are no longer painful! At the vet, Fozzie can get anxious, so we recommend muzzling during appointments to keep everyone calm and stress-free. He also has some weakness in his hind end and should be kept away from high beds and stairs for his safety. Fozzie may also benefit from light physical therapy. It has been quite a journey with this little guy, but he's been so strong through it all. We know there's someone special out there who can give Fozzie the love and care he deserves. Please contact Jamesa (roxysrescue@yahoo.com), 713-882-2610 for more information about this pet.Okay, this little boy came with his name AVIS as an owner surrender!!!  But he does not respond to the name at all.  Even when he laying on my side relaxing does he respond to his name.  He loves to lay with you and cuddle but he is very obedient when you put him down because you need some room for yourself. AVIS is a 3 1/2 year old, 15 pound Lhasa Apso/Shih Tzu.  The owner swore him as a Shih Tzu but he vet determined that he is mixed with Lhasa Apso.  Truth is he is just a mixture of beauty!!  And his temperament is sooooo sweet.  He was a bit shy when I first got him and he needed a few days to adjust before he became comfortable enough to run around with the other foster dogs.  He doesn't bother them and they do not bother him although he seems to enjoy watching them play.  He came from a home with a 12 year old dog. AVIS was owner surrendered because of some major lifestyle changes and she could no longer care for him.  In the past few months he has been living in several different environments.  I bet he would just like to be normal and stable in a loving home.  AVIS only had the 1 owner since he was a baby. He walks great on a leash, no pulling and he walks at your pace.  AVIS is a very easy going guy.  He for sure needs to be groomed but if I groom him it will be more of a hack job!!
