Meet Belle, an 8-pound Pekapoo who may be small, but her spirit is strong. Right now, Belle is still fearful of humans and cautious to trust, so she will need time to warm up to new people. However, when she finds a dog she likes, she confidently follows their lead, showing her desire to be part of a pack.Belle has a slightly deformed back leg that`s shorter than the others, but it doesn`t slow her down in the slightest. Her resiliency shines through, and with the right patient, calm environment, Belle is ready to come out of her shell and show the world her true self. She’s looking for a family that will offer her the time, love, and support she needs to thrive.- - - - -Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
