Story
PWRESCUE.ORG Special needs - dominate personality, need experienced owner.*PHOENIX METRO AREA ONLY* Meet Leo, a distinguished 7-year-old, 22-pound Lhasa/Poodle mix. Leo came to us when his previous owner could no longer care for him, and now he’s looking for a special home where his unique personality can truly shine. Leo embodies the strong-willed and independent spirit typical of Lhasa Apsos—so much so that it’s said, “when a Lhasa Apso looks in the mirror, he sees a lion.” To thrive, Leo needs owners who appreciate this assertive nature and can establish a relationship of mutual respect. Admire his independence, but also consistently enforce the rules to earn his respect. Patience will be key as Leo adjusts to a new environment; it may take a few weeks for him to settle in. Once he’s comfortable, he will be a loyal and devoted companion. Though he’s not a cuddler, Leo craves love and attention and will show his affection in his own way. He’s vocal and might use growling to express his attitude, not as a sign of aggression. He has never bitten anyone but understanding his vocal cues is important. Leo enjoys walks, playing in the backyard, and curling up with his human at bedtime. He responds well to strong, yet gentle leadership, so a home where his owners can match his energy and maintain consistent, respectful interactions would be ideal. Leo would be happiest in a home with just adults or possibly another submissive dog (but not a younger one). Due to his personality, he is not likely to be a good fit for a home with young children. With patience and understanding, Leo will reward his new family with unwavering loyalty and love. Leo is up-to-date on vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $280. If you’re ready to provide Leo with the home he’s been waiting for, please visit https://pwrescue.org and click on the "Adopt" button to complete an application.Pathways Home Animal Rescue October 28, 2024, 4:40 pm
