Story
Ren is a spunky soul who is looking for his forever home! At 1.5 years old, this charming terrier mix weighs in at a petite 13 pounds. Ren`s shy and nervous demeanor around new people just adds to his endearing nature. He forms deep bonds with his human, making him the perfect companion for a single-owner household where he can be his protective self. When it comes to hobbies, Ren is quite the connoisseur of squeaky toys. He finds pure joy in the delightful sound they make. His days are best spent napping, cuddling up in someone`s arms, and enjoying the fresh air outside. And if you`re someone who loves to carry a furry friend around, Ren is your guy! He actually prefers being carried to walking. He is a homebody that prefers staying in rather than going on adventures. Ren is ready to fill your home with love and loyalty. Story
Ivy is an energetic young lady who loves to romp and play with her foster sisters and brothers, including the cats. We think she is a lot of Jack Russell and maybe a little boxer, but cannot really say for sure. We do know she is a sweetheart who loves to cuddle and be loved on when she is done playing. She is a little bit of a resource guarder, but that will likely remedy itself once she realizes there is plenty of everything. We hope a great furever family will give her plenty of love soon! Our Furry Friendz are available for adoption through a screening process which includes but is not limited to: a completed application, 3 referrals, a home visit, and a vet referral prior to their furever home placement. The dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, current on all vaccines and on heart worm/flea preventative. Story
***DFW area only-No Exceptions*** Peanut is a ~7 week (as of 2/20/25) old Chihuahua mix puppy. He has scruffy fur so we think maybe he’s mixed with Shih Tzu or some other terrier breed.  He was found stray with his brother Brittle. It’s dangerous for such young puppies to be in the shelter, so his foster mom brought him into the Legacy Humane fold! Peanut loves to be played with, enjoys jumping in laps, and is very social. He’s lively and fun. Puppies at this age will require patience and training to become the best pup they can be. Peanut is working on potty training will begin crate training soon. Peanut would best be suited for a home with older kids due to his small size.  He is new to his foster home and is getting used to larger dogs and cat friends.  Current weigh: ~4lbs Projected weight 20-30 lbs    We are requesting a donation of $325 for the adoption which includes his neuter, three rounds of puppy vaccines, a rabies vaccine, microchip with registration, dewormer and a single dose of heartworm preventative.  If you're interested in meeting or adopting him, please complete an application on our website and someone will reach out to you within 48 hours.  https://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ Adopter will take puppy to an LHS approved vet to be neutered in May of 2025 per the spay/neuter agreement and in accordance to Chapter 828, Texas Health and Safety Code.  *Due to the high volume of applications and inquires for puppies as well as vetting needs, we will not be able to respond to or consider interest from those outside of the Dallas/Fort Worth Area.   We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application.
