Story
Meet Rocky Rich! We think Rocky looks like a perfect circus act or magician’s dog! He has a twinkle in his eye we think makes me look like a born performer. Rocky is a 2-3 year old charming little guy. He is great with dogs, kids, cats you name it. We believe he is a Papillion/sheltie/something cute mix. He is about 15 lbs and is full grown. He is working on his housebreaking and crate training and is doing very well! We believe Rocky may have some sort of herding breed in him because he does the most adorable “circle” or herding dance when he gets excited or anxious. It is is special way of letting you know he is very excited about what is going on! Interested in becoming Rocky’s forever home? For immediate consideration, please fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we DO NOT go any further without an application. If there are multiple dogs that you are interested in, please fill out an application for each dog. This does not include bonded pairs, one application will be fine. We have different adoption coordinators working with different dogs, and your application may be missed if you only apply once. Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws . We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting. We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and the perfect forever home for our dogs. We appreciate you working with us. Our adoption fees cover spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!

Story
BON IVER - 8 years, 17lbs, Pap/Chi Mix, Neutered PLEASE NOTE: Grown Ups Only Home - No children!  This  is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Thier Foster Parent Says: "If you're looking for a pint-sized bundle of joy who will fill your life with love and laughter, look no further! Bon Iver may be small in size, but he has a big heart and an even bigger personality! He would thrive in a home with a human that has some experience with confidence building as he can be a little insecure which has typically results in him marking his territory or yapping at bikes and strollers. While some wheels may trigger him, he does love to go on walks around the city, almost as much as he loves curling up next to us on the couch. He gets along with other dogs (his foster home has 2 of them)  and can be quite playful if he's in the mood, but he has displayed some resource guarding (one lamb toy) so his new home will need to be able to manage this behavior and positive that their dog will not be reactive as they learn to cohabitate. Fair warning: whoever adopts him is going to get stopped endlessly on the street by admirers, but we think he's worth it ;)" Level of dog ownership experience needed:FLEXIBLE: We predict this dog will be low on the challenge scale with regard to exercise and mental stimulation requirements, but seniors tend to need a lot of help and understanding when it comes to lifestyle and veterinary issues. Seniors usually need quiet, calm environments and routines and do not do well with a lot of bustle, change, and rambunctious movement (kids and young playful dogs, for instance). This dog’s adopter will need to be prepared for senior health challenges, which usually come with expensive veterinary bills and time in vet offices. Senior care can also take an emotional toll on their humans. Adopting a mature pup is a wonderful thing to do, but it can also be difficult.  Energy levelMEDIUM -- Not bouncing off the walls but needs long walks and playtime, likes to be active - for an older pup he LOVES walks and does play with dogs!  Cuddle Bug LevelMedium -- Likes to snuggle when he's in the mood but often stays in his own bed Potty trained?Yes - but does have have a transitional phase. His foster would expect him to mark in his new home for the first 24 hours out of insecurity but I think confidence building will drastically reduce any marking, it's become a very rare thing in our house already - he doesn't mark anymore - is doing great now :)  Comfy with strangers?Yes but not super desperate to be center of attention -- Fine with meeting new people but not particularly interested, kind of shy in busy social situations like a gathering or a packed day in the park. Good with Children? (ALWAYS requires supervision)No - Needs to be in a home with adults only. His humans need to be respectful of a dog's boundaries, he's given us a couple warning growls when he doesn't want to be picked up or moved.  Social with cats?Probably. Seniors are usually mellow enough that they are able to coexist well with cats.  Good with Other Dogs?Yes - is currently in a home with two other dogs and is fine with them. Does resource gaurd one of his toys - so if you are wanting to intergrate him into a pack ... you will need to be on top of that.  Mouthy Behavior? Nope – Past this point in life  Leash Manners?Getting the Hang of it – He has little leash skills but loves being on walks, we haven't been super successful correcting his behavior yet but he's not difficult to manage! Okay in the city?Seems unfazed by the sights and sounds, they may as well have been born here. - with the exception of things on wheels like skateboard, bikes (but strangely not all of them?) and strollers. People, other dogs, cars, sirens, etc, totally doesn't faze him Separation Anxiety? Nope – Completely fine being left home alone. Doesn’t cry or do anything shitty when you leave the apartment or house.  Crate training? Yep – he sleeps in the crate with no issues, occasionally he'll put himself in it during the day to rest Medical statusHealthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake. Adopters will need to be ready for senior care – at a minimum, that will be annual checkups including senior bloodwork and a dental post adoption (most senior rescues need one). How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee or St. Thomas. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives. PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. Story
Meet Lara💗 Lara is a super calm small girly. She loves humans and gets along well with children, but is not really interested in dog friends. She’s super cuddly and calm, so the house size wouldn’t matter much. She loves going for a short walk and is trained for housebreaking, so it is essential for you to take her for a walk at least two times a day. She’s also indifferent to dogs or humans she meet outside, but wants to lead the walk herself. She sheds a bit - not a lot; mediate level, and is also really good at grooming, so it wouldn’t be a big worry. However, she doesn’t really prefer long car trips – she doesn’t eat in cars and is a bit afraid of being in them at the first time. She is not kennel trained, but does sleep in her own bed. She also loves to cuddle on human bed and sofa! Allergy/health issues: No allergy or health issues yet found. *Please send all inquiries to @everlove8282. *Please submit your applications through the application form on our Instagram profile! Our team will carefully consider each of your applications to find the perfect forever homes for our dogs. *As all of our dogs are currently in South Korea, there will be an adoption fee of 700USD + customs fee (if applicable) for each dog.

Story
Jasmine (born: 3/20/2012) is 22 pounds. DNA revealed that Jasmine, is 50.2% Papillion, 22.3% Pembroke Welsh Corgi, 19.7% Chihuahua and 7.8% Pekingese. A social worker advised the Society that there was a little dog in need. Her owner could not take care of her anymore, as she herself would be going into the hospital and not coming home. Because the woman was critically ill, she was not able to look after this little dog properly and Jasmine needed medical attention. We agreed to take the dog in. After an extensive medical workup, Jasmine was available for adoption Jasmine is selective with her friends, but if you approach with gentleness and patience, you might just pass her exclusive friendship test! Once you’re in, get ready for a lifetime of love and loyalty. She adores leisurely walks, being pampered, and basking in admiration. She may not be a fan of cats or kids, but for the right human(s), Jasmine will be a loving companion. We really appreciate that you want to give a shelter animal a home. The Humane Society of New York was founded in 1904. The Vladimir Horowitz/Wanda Toscanini Horowitz Adoption Center is a no-kill shelter.       adoption donation $799     weight: 17 lbs      Age: 1 1/2 years        Vanilla bean is a sweet gentle boy who along with his brother Pudding was found abandoned in a rural part of  Mississippi. Since arriving at the rescue, Bean as he is called  has made himself at home, playing with the other dogs and snuggling up with his brother for naps.         Bean gets along fine with all the dogs at the rescue and is a loving boy, he just adores a belly rub! He is house trained but like any rescue will likely need some time to adjust in a new home.       bean is up to date on his vaccinations and has been neutered. He will make a wonderful family dog.     Wags is a registered 501 C3, it is a struggling rescue in Mississippi where one woman cares for almost 150 homeless dogs. Story
Rocky, the long haired CHI /Papillon (mix?), is ready to find his forever home! 🐾 He's a pro at using pee pads and will also go outside, making potty training a breeze. Rocky is super smart and loves to learn. His foster mom thinks he would make a GREAT agility dog. He sleeps through the night in whatever cozy spot he chooses. While Rocky needs time to build trust, he's a brave and outgoing pup who will bring so much joy to the right home. Just remember, he's not a fan of being woken up, so let him snooze peacefully. 😴🐶 He gets along with people of all ages, we suggest a home with kids over 15 years of age with dog experience. No first time dog owners for this guy. If you're looking for a fun and friendly companion, Rocky is your guy! 🐶💕 A loving and active household that understands Rocky's needs would be the perfect fit for him! 🏡🐾
