Story
Meet Teddy Roosevelt! A spirited eight-and-a-half-year-old Papillon/Cocker Spaniel mix from New York, NY, with a chocolate-brown coat and a heart that’s eager for companionship and care. Weighing just 8 pounds, Teddy is as charming as he is resilient—true to his namesake, he has a brave, independent spirit and a personality that's a delightful mix of sweetness and a touch of “I’ll do it my way” attitude! Teddy is most content when close to his people, enjoying snuggles under a blanket or resting on your lap. He shines in quiet, calm settings where he feels safe and supported. Being a companion is his specialty, and he fills any room with warmth and affection, especially when his loved ones return home—he greets them with pure joy! He also adores toys and thrives with a calming routine. Ideally, Teddy would flourish in a home outside the busy city life; he’s sensitive to loud noises and high-energy environments. While Teddy’s charm is undeniable, he does come with some specific needs. He is selective with other dogs, showing preference for smaller, calm companions, and can feel overwhelmed by large dogs. Though generally friendly with cats and young children, Teddy has a sensitive side. His new family should understand that Teddy prefers control over his space and schedule; if startled or uncomfortable, he may react by growling or nipping. Teddy’s ideal guardian would be an experienced dog caregiver in a low-activity home with a steady routine. Teddy needs a compassionate, patient guardian willing to respect his boundaries, reinforce positive behaviors, and support him through his sensitivities with gentle, consistent care. If you're ready to open your heart to a small yet mighty companion and build a lasting bond, reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com to meet Teddy! Could this unique little guy be the loyal friend you’ve been seeking?

Story
Lilli-pup So what? Yah, I was named after a Pokmon but, really I don't fit it's personality. Although, I am intelligent and courageous, and capable of judging my opponent's strengths, I have not and never will intend to hurt anyone. I MAY be very vocal when playing with friends and love ones, but it is all in fun. :) Cats are a different story, I will challenge them, but they always win. I hope to someday to become friends with one and have a partnership and be able to teach each other strategies to get extra treats. Down time is my favorite, I love belly and ear scratches and giving kisses. But don't get too comfortable! I am a youngster and playtime is my fAVORITE time!! I am looking for an active family that will love my personality and get a kick out of it and love on me as much as possible. Crate trained Potty trained thru doggie door- still learning! Cat friendly Needs more work on leash time :) A little scared in a car but if you see me hanging out in the backseat, you will think I am a natural!! ADOPT DON'T SHOP!!!!!!!!! Local adoption fee is $450 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $750 (includes transport to your area)

Story
"A Heart Reborn" Selina, a beautiful 4-5 year old spayed female with the most gorgeous Merle coloring, was found abandoned in a crate near Tolland, CT. We believe she is a Papillon/long haired chihuahua mix. Despite her painful past, Selina's resilient spirit shines through. She's now in a loving foster home, slowly learning to trust again.  Selina's fears and uncertainties are a reminder of her complex history.  As a result, she's developed defense mechanisms to cope with strangers and new environments. She may bark and hide when scared, but with patience and love, she's beginning to open up. Her timid nature hides a deep desire for connection and affection.  To provide Selina with a happy life, we seek a calm and gentle environment. Her ideal home would feature patient owners who understand her fears and needs. A household with older kids or adults only would be perfect for this sweet girl. Selina is a gentle soul who gets along with other dogs, provided she's introduced slowly. She's pee pad trained and working on outdoor potty training. With time and patience, Selina will become a loving companion.  Apply now to give Selina the love and security she deserves.  Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs.  We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted.  As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance. Thank you for your support and understanding! ##2200138##
