Story
"A Heart Reborn"
Selina, a beautiful 4-5 year old spayed female with the most gorgeous Merle coloring, was found abandoned in a crate near Tolland, CT. We believe she is a Papillon/long haired chihuahua mix. Despite her painful past, Selina's resilient spirit shines through. She's now in a loving foster home, slowly learning to trust again.
Selina's fears and uncertainties are a reminder of her complex history. As a result, she's developed defense mechanisms to cope with strangers and new environments. She may bark and hide when scared, but with patience and love, she's beginning to open up. Her timid nature hides a deep desire for connection and affection.
To provide Selina with a happy life, we seek a calm and gentle environment. Her ideal home would feature patient owners who understand her fears and needs. A household with older kids or adults only would be perfect for this sweet girl.
Selina is a gentle soul who gets along with other dogs, provided she's introduced slowly. She's pee pad trained and working on outdoor potty training. With time and patience, Selina will become a loving companion.

Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs. We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted. As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance. Thank you for your support and understanding!
