Story
Sweet Gary is ready to find his forever home! This precious senior boy loves wandering around the yard, soaking up all the smells and sunshine, and then settling in for some quality lap time and head scratches. Gary’s story is one that’s hard to forget. He was found stuck in the mud of a retention pond, unable to move, shivering, exhausted, and covered in fleas. His rescuers had to physically get into the mud to pull him out and carry him to safety. They brought him home to get him warm and comfortable while searching for an owner, but sadly, there is a strong suspicion that Gary may have been intentionally left there, as there was simply no way he could have gotten out on his own.Despite all he’s been through, Gary is doing so well. His hearing and vision may not be the best, but he navigates just fine, especially when guided by love. And his very favorite thing in the whole world? Being close to his people. Gary is a gentle, grateful little soul who deserves nothing more than a soft place to land and a family to love him forever. 🥺🤍He recently had all but two teeth removed due to severe dental disease, but his appetite is slowly coming back and he’s feeling better each day. He’s very laid back, seems to be potty trained, and most of all, he absolutely loves to snuggle. To apply to have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport, please visit our website at https://longwayhome.org/adopt.❤ Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds.
