Story
COURTESY POST: This handsome guy was found months ago and no owner has come forward. The kind lady who has been caring for him would like to find him a home so she has asked for our help. She has been calling him Taffy. We don’t know his age, but he seems young maybe 1-3 years old. He is not neutered yet, so that would be a requirement for the adopter to get done. We can help with a donation and information for other organizations that also donate. Taffy is a chatty and affectionate cat! He’s often underfoot because he likes to follow you around because he’s a curious kitty. He likes to be included, whether that be rubbing his face on you, or watching you from a perch. He knows his boundaries well and will tell you when he’s done being pet, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t want to hang out! Forehead scratches are his favorite and he loves making biscuits-especially when he’s drinking water! He's happier as an only cat and we do not know how he is with dogs. If you are interested in adopting Taffy, please fill out our courtesy post feline adoption application from our website. mountainshumanesociety.org

Story
Friendly, Easy Going and CalmI'M BELLA THE MOM: My coloring looks like it has been done at an expensive salon using a color technique called Ombre. My fur is darker and then it brightens at the ends to a rich sable reddish brown that glistens in the sunlight. I’m super relaxed and calm. One of my daughters, Java, is just like me. I love petting and playing with my kittens and lounging on a cat tree. I’m not interested in going outside after being out there already! I was lost and all alone outside except when “the boys” came around…. and you know what that means!  I had kittens! A very nice person fed me every meal. She was 90 years old and when she died her son moved in to fix up the house to sell and I had to find another place to be. Community Animal Network made room for me and my family and I am so very grateful. Community Animal Network didn’t separate me from my kittens like other rescues do. I’ve given my kittens a good upbringing and they have been nurtured and have had a good healthy start because I was never starving when I was pregnant like many other rescued moms.   For more info, call or text DiAnna at 949-759-3646 or email at DiAnna@animalnetwork.org. This kitty is being cared for by Community Animal Network, a non-profit organization founded by DiAnna Pfaff-Martin in 1996. C.A.N is a veterinary medical rescue that helps local animals find forever homes. The animals are cared for and raised in private homes. The founder of Community Animal Network, DiAnna Pfaff-Martin, is very particular about the quality of raising the kittens with vitamins, proper diet. A board-certified feline specialist provides the animals with their veterinary medical care and Community Animal Network offers veterinary internships to young people as young as 15 that have aspirations of becoming a vet.  Feral kittens are tamed to "pet quality" and rescue cats that are shy are disclosed and termed, "rescue quality" with a lower placement fee. With all adoptions DiAnna Pfaff-Martin gives valuable information about cat care in a "feline pet-parenting consultation" to adopters. The most current information is made available about how to keep your cat healthy, pet foods, litters and how to make your cat more affectionate and her specialty is teaching, “How To Make Cats Happy!” The AVID microchip is implanted in every cat and the chips’ registration fee is included in the adoption and the animals come with a 30-day heath commitment and return policy. To donate to help local animals, use our PayPal link: www.PayPal.Me/CommunityAnimal Or Mail A Check with a Note! We love to get to know our donors: Community Animal Network P.O. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Welcome to Act 2 Rescue where you become part of our A2R family! Adoption is an important time in your life and we are grateful to be a part of it. We take pride in offering you a personalized adoption experience with continuing behavioral support as needed. -Mindy Gould, CEO Hi, I’m Jewel! I’m a 2-year-old Maine Coon mix with stunning long-haired calico fur and a heart full of love. I’m as chill as they come whether it’ s curling up in your lap, lounging in a sunny spot, or just keeping you company, I’m happiest when I’m close to my favorite humans. I am FIV-positive, but don’t worry, it just means I need a little extra care, like regular vet visits and a healthy lifestyle. I can live a long, happy life as a single cat or with other friendly, non-aggressive kitties. FIV is only spread through deep bite wounds, and I’m way too laid-back for that! If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate, and easygoing companion, I’d love to be your new best friend. Let’s meet and see if we’re  the perfect match! I am all ready for my new home or will be soon! Once sterilized, I will have been seen by a veterinarian, had all shots I was able to get when I was sterilized or they checked my sterilization status and microchipped!  All I need now is you! I am currently living in a foster home and am fully litter trained. Act 2 Rescue will even help you make sure I am able to integrate into your human and pet family with their behavioral coaching support during the transition period. I can't wait to meet you so please fill out an application for me today! _______________________________________________________________________  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please be aware we are a small foster based rescue in Riverside, California. Our volunteers often have other jobs/careers as well. We are not a government funded shelter and all of our donations including adoption donations are used to run the rescue and help the animals in our care. Since we are no kill, higher fees for in demand breeds help us cover critical care.  We are always in need of volunteers, donations, and fosters. Please excuse any wait times as we are often inundated with emergencies or short staffed due to the overpopulation crisis. You can learn more about us on our website or follow us here.   Steps 1-2  of the ADOPTION PROCESS must be done before we do OFFICIAL MEET & GREETS or take deposits.  To keep animals healthy,  we limit  foster based meet & greets  to people fully qualified to adopt them.   No animals can be held without a $75 deposit. Deposits cannot be refunded if you change your mind, they are to hold a cat and can result in other adopters being told they cannot adopt. ADOPTION PROCESS: 1.  Application:  Log into our website and complete the adoption application at link below: Applications :  Forms (rescuegroups.org) 2. Virtual Home Check: Once your application is approved, check back if you haven't been scheduled for a virtual home check within 48 hours.  A virtual home check to ensure safety of your residence for your kitty (not perfect cleanliness). You will be told during the visit if you pass.  3. Official meet & greet with your kitty at an adoption event, foster care, or adoption center depending on location of the kitty.   We only have a few  volunteers,  so we apologize at times we fall behind due to high demand of some cats.  5. Sign adoption contract and, if appropriate, foster to adopt clause. 6. Pay adoption fee via zelle using act2rescue@gmail.com (not our phone number) or using cash. We can accept cards at adoption events but the terminal charges fees that are pretty high so it's not the best option.  7. Take your kitty home. Be sure to isolate kitty while they adjust to your home. We may check in from time to time to be sure you do not need any additional support because we love hearing how our kitties are doing. As volunteer staff, happy stories are literally our paycheck.  8. Check out our website https://act2rescue.org for resources, blogs and info on how to best take care of your new kitty. Our professional behavior coach is available via text to assist you with transition as well. We also have a Facebook group to interact with our behavior coach and other kitten care experts, as well as our A2R family like you! ****Please note, we do not have dedicated staff for phone lines so please text instead of calling. If the cat/kitten is listed, they are available. However, they could have pending applications or meet and greets scheduled. Filling out an application and approval does not obligate you to adopt the kitty. If they are not a fit...we have plenty of other kitties for adoption. This kitty has received at least two FVCRP vaccines, rabies if over 4 months, Revolution for fleas/ticks/heartworms/stomach parasites/ear mites, de-wormer, sterilization*, and microchip (you must register for it to work but it's free).  All kitties are given a general wellness check by a veterinarian prior to sterilization.  Deposits: The only way we can hold a kitty is with a non-refundable (if you decide not to adopt within 2 weeks not if we void the adoption) deposit of $75. We reserve the right to void the adoption up until the point the contract is signed. If we cancel the adoption (for kitty health or other issues) we will refund your deposit. If you wait longer than 2 weeks, we cannot hold the kitty due to space constraints. Your deposit could be used on another kitty. If you decide not to adopt at all, any deposit will go to the care of animals rescued with us and may be written off as a donation.   Foster to Adopt: Kittens must be 2 lbs or 8 weeks and fixed to be adopted. This will be noted in the approximate available date. If a kitty is unable to be fixed in a timely manner, they may foster to adopt. This would be all adoption paperwork and donations would be exchanged and the kitten would go home. Adoption paperwork will have a clause that it is not final until animal is sterilized.  Once the sterilization appointment arrives you must bring them in to be sterilized or the animal will have to be returned to the rescue. You may also have them sterilized on your own and show proof to the rescue. Once sterilized the adoption will be complete. We normally do not do these in this manner but due to extreme situations they may arise. Final health checks are done during sterilization. Any unknown health issues would also allow you to choose a different cat.   Failure to comply with sterilization will result in returning the animal to us without refund of donations. Breeds:  We cannot guarantee breed but do our best to identify possible breeds based on their appearancxe and personality. If you DNA test your furry friend, let us know the results. It is fun to see what the kitty actually is and how close our guess is. Please know not all DNA companies test for all breeds and the science is still catching up so it may adjust later to have breeds we saw. We like to know so we can improve our analysis too.   We cannot guarantee health but go to great lengths to have healthy kitties. Kitties do not live in a cattery but in private fosters for this reason.  Snap Testing: We do not test for FELV/FIV in healthy animals as it is often incorrect in animals under 6 months and can be a false positive. False negatives also give a false sense of security. These tests are best done if an animal is unhealthy to determine disease.  https://www.uwsheltermedicine.com/library/resources/why-are-some-shelters-no-longer-testing-all-cats-for-felv-and-fiv February 15, 2025, 1:53 am

Adoption is an important time in your life and we are grateful to be a part of it. We take pride in offering you a personalized adoption experience with continuing behavioral support as needed. -Mindy Gould, CEO Hey there, I’m Trix! A few months ago, I was surviving on the streets of Riverside hungry, dirty, and unsure who to trust. Thankfully, some kind humans took me in (twice, actually I made a daring escape before realizing I was better off inside). At first, I wasn’t so sure about this indoor life. I hissed, scratched, and howled to get back outside, but deep down, I just needed someone to show me kindness and patience.   Now that I’ve had time to adjust, I’ve learned that I love attention like, constant attention. I’ll wrap my paws around your hands to guide your petting, and if I’m feeling extra cozy, I’ll knead and suck on my blanket like a kitten. My favorite place to sleep? Right next to you, preferably sharing your pillow with a paw on you at all times.   I’m also quite the talker! I chirp, trill, and meow to let you know what I need. I get along well with other cats (with a slow and proper introduction of course). I can be a little defensive if startled, so I need a home with patient humans who understand I may flinch or playfully test boundaries with a gentle nip (don’t worry a firm “no nipping” helps me remember my manners). I’m about 4 years old, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and super healthy. I have stunning light blue eyes, soft medium-to-long fur, and I may have some Himalayan or Ragdoll in me!   I need a home with experienced cat people who understand that I require more interaction and affection than most cats. Because of my history and need for slow, deliberate movements, I need a home with mature, older kids only, no little ones, please! My foster has been working on leash training and car rides, and I’m doing surprisingly well!   If you’re looking for a devoted, affectionate, and slightly quirky companion, I might just be your perfect match. Let’s meet and see if we’re meant to be!   I am all ready for my new home or will be soon!
