Story
We are offering the most regal and unusual Norwegian Elkhound female, named Svart (meaning dark in color) but we prefer to call her “Cleopatra”.  This gorgeous girl is the leader and Queen of them all.  Regal and fully confident, she is everything we know Cleopatra to have been back in her days of making history.  She is the epitome of a queen that is full of reigning power in her breeding pack.  This 5.5 year old girl is gorgeous and is 65 pounds.  Undeniably in charge , Cleopatra Svart insists on being the focus of your family’s life.  She can live in peace with other dogs but we don't think she would be good at dog parks with dogs rushing up to her face with no introduction. She is happy with all the humans she meets and she is part of a large pack of breeder dogs that her owner is asking Critter Cavalry Rescue to help place. She is downsizing and getting out of the breeding business.  Our Svart AKA Cleopatra, needs a place of her own inside a home with her dog bed throne to await her.  If you are interested in this regal queen, please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com She is ready for YOU to walk her down the red carpet to her new home. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.November 5, 2024, 1:27 pm

Story
Gregarious Gail, as we call her, is just 21 months old and is a true beauty of a pure bred Norwegian Elkhound.  She possesses all the wonderful traits through and through. Gail is a special girl because as a puppy she had an infection that caused her to lose her tail and two toes on her back feet.  She is so cute with the shorter tail and it hasn't slowed her down a bit. In fact, Gail is a very active and athletic lady who can jump, run, spin and play.  Gail hasn't had much of a start in life and she deserves much more.   She is outgoing and very sweet and just a touch shy at first when she meets new people and new situations.  Critter Cavalry rescued her an overwhelmed Elkhound breeder and has promised this loving, loyal and friendly girl, to give her a family that will recognize her special bright spirit.  She gets along well with others and goodness just look at that beautiful face. She is going to make some person or family so very happy.  This rare breed is known for being extremely loyal, intelligent and sensitive.    If you are interested in owning a breed that is fast becoming rare in the U.S. then please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com   She is ready for a fresh new start to her young life. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.November 5, 2024, 1:27 pm

Story
Axel is an incredibly handsome Norwegian Elkhound mix who joined his foster pawrents in November. Axel was surrendered to a high kill shelter when his old family had to move, and as an owner surrender he ended up on the urgent list rather quickly. While at the shelter, Axel became a volunteer favorite because of his good looks and sweet demeanor. He’s got it all - loves to go for walks, can run and play in the yard, and since he’s about 5 years old and settling down he also loves to hit the couch and cuddle up next to you. He will even tell you it’s bedtime and gently nudge you to bed if you’re running behind- a great boy for anyone trying to stick to a new year's resolutions for more sleep. Axel has loved all people so far and seems to do well with other respectful dogs but would be happy as an only pet as well. Due to his size, we would recommend older kids. Axel has been an absolute joy and cannot wait to make his new family super happy! Axel is 55 lbs.  Please email us at AlmostHome4Dogs@yahoo.com for an application. (Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.) PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING US! We are NOT a shelter: All of our dogs live in private homes with foster families. Come and meet the Almost Home dogs and their fosters at our Meet & Greet events, where you can learn more about our wonderful dogs from the people who live with them, find out which dogs are on their way and when they’ll arrive, and fill out an application to adopt or foster. We cannot adopt to homes where electric-shock fencing systems or training collars are used. For more information on the dangers of electric-shock collars, please visit banshockcollars.ca/studies.php . We do not have an online adoption application; to request an application, e-mail us at AlmostHome4Dogs@yahoo.com. To speed e-mail processing time, be sure to note the name of the dog you are inquiring about in the Subject line. For Meet & Greet times and locations, visit our home page, where you also will find information on our adoption process and fees. FOSTER FAMILIES ARE LIFESAVERS!! Can you open your heart and home for a few weeks to homeless shelter dog? Remember, by fostering a dog, you save TWO lives — that of your foster dog, and that of the dog who takes his place in the shelter! Come to a Meet & Greet and find out if fostering is for you — there's no reward quite like the feeling that you've saved a life ... or two!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 26, 2024, 6:08 pm

Story
Say hello to Maverick! PK welcomed this sweet Norwegian Elkhound mix from another local rescue, after he was originally picked up as a stray. Maverick is around 2 years old and weighs 36 lbs. While we are still learning more about Maverick, we know he is a very friendly and outgoing boy. He likes to give people kisses! Maverick is energetic and enjoys burning energy on walks with his volunteer friends. He has quite a thick coat, so he will need a family who is willing to provide for his grooming needs. Maverick is open to meeting other dogs if you have them in the household; however, he cannot live with cats. We believe he would do fine in a home with children. Submit an application for Maverick at lvpeaceablekingdom.info. Peaceable Kingdom, PA Kennel License #04131, 1049 MacArthur Rd., Whitehall, PA 18052

Story
Kirby is a 9-month-old Norwegian Elkhound. He is a happy, friendly boy. Kirby will do best in an active home that understands his breed`s needs. He is dog friendly and may be a good companion for your current dog, however, he has never been around cats. Kirby is an active pup who requires some time and training. He is crate trained and walks ever so gently on his leash. A fenced yard is a must for Kirby. He is recommended for an experienced adult home. Come meet Kirby at the VAO soon!
