Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Fill out an Adoption Application LOCATED IN FINKSBURG, MD HEADLINER: Sweet Sassy the Newfie. HISTORY: Sassy came from Kentucky to Maryland on 10/19. She was a tad underweight but has a great appetite and has been putting back on some weight. She was reported to be 2 years old at the shelter she was turned into. PERSONALITY: Sassy is a sweet Newfie who wants to be loved. She seeks snuggles and pets from her foster parents and wants to be near them. She enjoys romping around her yard and laying in the sunshine but also enjoys snoozing on the couch or on a dog bed. She has short spurts of playful energy followed by long naps. FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: walking around the yard, laying in the grass, snoozing on the couch, following people around the house and the yard, snuggling, eating treats and meals, dreaming of her forever home. MEDICAL ISSUES: recovering from hook worm. She completed the first round of medication and will complete one more in a couple of weeks. She was spayed on 10/18/24. WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST KIND OF HOME: Sassy has been hot and cold with her foster brother. She can be temperamental around him and wants to assert her dominance. To be clear, there has been no aggression, but she has been very dominant around him. She would be best in a home with a submissive dog or no other dogs. ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Again, Sassy is so, so sweet! She is always looking to be pet and loved on. She is low maintenance energy-wise and is fine just taking a stroll around the yard and plopping down or coming back inside. Application Fees, Adoption Donations and Rescue Policy: Please know that 100% of our fees and donations pay for the costs of rescuing dogs. These include but are not limited to pull fees from shelters, veterinary examinations, vaccinations, medications and care, microchips, neuter/spay surgeries, heartworm treatments, behavior evaluations, and foster care, as needed. Important notes before applying. Adopters must have their primary residence in one of the following states: Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, and parts of North Carolina. We will not adopt giant breed dogs to renters. Homes with children under 6 years of age will not be approved for adoption. Homes with children should have a fenced yard. Pets currently in the applicant's home must have a history of appropriate veterinary care. Homes with intact dogs will not be approved for adoption.  Proof of any of the following exceptions is required: The intact dog is a working member of a law enforcement, or search and rescue/recovery team. The intact dog is registered under the auspices of the American Kennel Club and is actively being shown. A veterinarian has determined the sterilization procedure would harm the intact dog.  We believe in Force Free Training Methods and do not approve of methods or devices using pain or force to control the dog, or to deter undesirable behavior.  Homes with highly varnished steps must have carpeting, securely fixed stair treads, or a non-skid surface. **We encourage you to remediate potential safety issues while your application is under review, prior to the home visit. Aspen is supposedly a purebred Newfie, so she's expected to continue growing. She's not the breed standard when it comes to her age versus weight, but she's perfect as far as we're concerned. She arrived 10/18 and will undergo foster evaluation for two weeks before she's ready for adoption, so go ahead and get your application in now at this link: https://bit.ly/4d7XoKd VERY IMPORTANT: RESTRICTED ADOPTION RADIUS: She's not adoptable outside a maximum radius of 45 miles from zip code 20906

IF YOU ARE VIEWING THIS LISTING ON PETFINDER OR ADOPT-A-PET, please visit: Caninesandkittiesrescue.org to access adoption requirements, more information and pictures. Meet Buster! Buster is about 10 weeks old and is a Great Pyrenees mix. We have no idea how big this puppy will be full grown, but he is already a big fluffy boy! Buster is in a foster home with dogs, and he is great with everyone he meets. He is young enough to learn to live successfully with cats. Buster is a typical puppy who loves to explore his surroundings and enjoys running around the backyard with the resident dogs. Buster enjoys snuggling on the couch, chewing on doggie bones, giving puppy kisses and learning about life:) Baby puppies will require the adopter to be at home a good portion of the day to continue training - no exceptions! This puppy is up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped and will need to be spayed at the age of 6 months. The Adoption Fee for this puppy $400.00. A refundable spay/neuter deposit will be added to the adoption fee for puppies and kittens. ***Please note, this pup's immune system will not be fully functioning until about 16 weeks of age and therefore, s/he is not suited for Apartment/Condo living or Town homes without a private fenced yard and will not be able to go to public places where s/he could possibly be exposed to the germs of unvaccinated dogs, such as PetSmart/PetCo and dog parks until s/he is 16 weeks old*** ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CKRescue*** The adoption fee for this dog is $400, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. This fee DOES NOT INCLUDE spay/neuter if the pup is not already spayed/neutered. If the animal you are adopting is not already spayed/neutered, you will be required to sign a contract legally obligating you to have the animal altered. A $100.00 fee will be returned to the adopter once the animal has been sterilized. We will provide information on this process during the approval process. ***Note that puppy adoption fees most often help generate revenue that goes towards older, special needs animals that need our help. Surgeries, heartworm treatment, boarding costs and/or all things that often result in adoptable dogs and cats being left behind to be euthanized. So, adopting a puppy saves not just one life, but many! ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us, thus we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Our organization cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and/or the general appearance of the animal. **Please visit www.caninesandkittiesrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**
