Story
Hello! My name is Asher!I`ve been waiting patiently for a new home since March! I`m an easy-going guy. I enjoy lounging around the house or yard after a nice walk. I am very treat-motivated and love to learn. I am a sensitive soul and require a gentle approach to training and handling to feel safe and comfortable. I have shown some resource guarding around my food - but nobody likes their things being taken, right? And I can be uncomfortable with handling my ears when they are sore. I have been doing well with training and am eager to join a home that will use positive training methods to help me improve in these areas. I`ve had a rough start to life and can`t wait to join a kind family that will give me lots of love and good care.MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES…CHILDREN: No, I’m looking for an adult-only home.OTHER DOGS: No, I have guarded my resources from dogs in the past and would do best as the only pet in the home.CATS: No, I’m looking to be the only pet.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: No, I would do best with someone who has dog experience.FENCED-IN YARD: Highly recommended, unless it’s a rural property.HOUSING ENVIRONMENT: Any with a yard.SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: Not necessarily.SOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME…ACTIVITY LEVEL: Low-Medium.HOUSE-TRAINED: Yes.If you think I could be a good match for your home, click the `adopt me` button to apply!FOSTER ME! I’m excited to be selected as part of the Paisley Project and I’m looking for a foster home! If your home environment matches what I’m looking for based on the information above, please consider applying to foster me by copying and pasting the following link to fill out the questionnaire: https://guelphhumane.ca/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=frm_forms_preview&form=7y88o.The Paisley Project aims to match selected, long-stay animals at GHS with fosters that can provide a home that gradually introduces them to the everyday experiences of life as a pet. Fosters will offer the routine, structure and stability needed to help get animals ready for their new family. Learn more at https://guelphhumane.ca/the-paisley-project/.

Story
Beau came to us after being surrendered due to his protective nature with his previous owner. To ensure his comfort and safety, Beau will need very gradual and controlled introductions to new people, as he can be reactive and may bite if he feels threatened. Beau has idiopathic epilepsy and will require a dedicated family to manage his condition. This includes administering antiseizure medication twice daily, having his blood tested twice a year, and maintaining regular check-ups with his veterinarian. The positive news is that Beau has been seizure-free since 2019. When Beau first arrived, he was understandably cautious of his new environment and the people in it. However, he is gradually becoming more comfortable and is showing his true, affectionate personality. Beau is incredibly intelligent and loyal. He has a particular fondness for playing fetch and delights in lounging on a lap while receiving belly rubs. Beau is a special dog who thrives with patience and love. If you’re ready to provide a steady, caring environment, Beau will reward you with his devoted companionship and playful spirit.
