Story
Kramer is a 5 year old Newfypoo (Newfoundland/Poodle mix) who was surrendered to rescue when his owner could no longer care for themselves.  This was a big adjustment for him, understandably, but he has been doing well in his foster home. He seems to be very unhappy when crated.  So, we are using a larger indoor kennel for now, when we need to leave for short periods.  When we are home, we allow him free roam of the house, and he has been sleeping on the floor of our bedroom at night with no issues.  He is fully housetrained and has excellent housemanners.  He knows not to jump on furniture, does not jump up on countertops and hasn’t played with or chewed on inappropriate objects.  In fact, so far the only negative behavior we’ve seen from him is what seems to be an anxiety thing – always wanting to be near his people throughout the day, and has a tendency to jump up on people, on occasion.  We’re working with him on this.  This could be simply due to his unexpected move to a new home and we are hoping he can work through this with time, love and a little confidence.  For this reason, and due to his size, he may be best in a home with older children and adults. He does well on the leash.  He doesn’t pull hard, but due to his size, anyone walking him will need to be able to handle occasional pulling, leaning, or walking in the way of his handler. He gets along extremely well with other dogs.  He takes the submissive approach when meeting new dogs, and when initiating play.  When his invitation is accepted, he will play as gently or aggressively as his partner prefers.  (Again, due to his size, he may inadvertently play too roughly with smaller dogs).  He is also very good at keeping himself entertained.  It appears that he has been an only dog, and has developed some games to play alone that he enjoys.  One is tossing a tennis ball and running to catch it himself, or pushing/chasing anything that rolls.   He has been exposed to cats, and has only shown friendly curiosity with them.   We will continue to monitor this and update if we notice anything further. It appears that he has a good amount of energy when playing outside but is much calmer indoors.  He seems to be well trained – so far, we have noticed that he understands “sit”, “shake” and “lie down” and “leave it”.  He takes treats enthusiastically yet gently.  When he's feeling lovey, he enjoys giving big hugs.  If you've ever wondered what it's like to hug a fluffy human-sized teddy bear, this is it! This boy has only been in rescue a short time, but is already showing signs of being a very well-behaved, lovable and smart boy.  He is ready to find his forever family, where he can regain confidence and stability for the rest of his life.  If this sounds like you, please apply today! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $650.00  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 28, 2025, 5:47 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hi, I’m Roper, a 7-year-old with a heart as big as my paws (and I’ve got some pretty big paws)! I weigh about 55 pounds, but I promise I’m all cuddles and calm vibes. I’m super chill and love nothing more than lounging outside in a fenced yard, watching the birds and squirrels do their thing. I’m not much of a barker, except when those pesky garbage trucks or emergency vehicle sirens pass by – gotta keep my humans safe, right? I’m a mellow guy who enjoys the simple pleasures in life: belly rubs, cuddling with my foster mom, and occasionally letting out a quiet woof when something surprises me. I’m potty trained, crate trained (though I don’t really need a crate since I’m so well-behaved), and I walk pretty well on a leash – though I’m still perfecting my leash manners. My favorite thing? Being outside to take in all the sights and sounds, or just chilling with my people.  I’m really hoping you have a fenced yard because being outside to watch things and enjoy all the smells is just the bestest thing ever!  I’m good with other dogs of all sizes, so I’m open to sharing my space with another dog if needed.  I’m a bit of a quiet guy who loves attention but doesn’t need to be the center of the party. I know some fun stuff too, isn’t that cool?  I know “sit”, “down”, “come” as well as a command for go outside.  Aren’t I smart?  I do love attention and belly rubs, but I also really love my peoples and keeping them company.  If you’re looking for a laid-back companion who’ll keep you company on the couch or the porch, I’m your boy! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.    ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Story
Welcome Athena to CCPAL Rescue. She is a 2-year Great Pyrenees. She weighs about 90 pounds. She has a beautiful coat and the typical extra back toes commonly found in this breed. This is a guardian breed dog. They naturally will protect their flock or family. This breed will do best in a fully fenced yard as they will roam away if there is no fence. She is good with other dogs and will need some more leash work. She would be great with someone that knows the breed and loves it. She should have the natural tendencies of this breed. She had puppies and we adopted them out. We also adopted out the larger male that was found with her as a stray. She would be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. She is up on her vaccines, healthy, spayed and ready for her forever home. She is currently in Texas anc can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is 300 and transport is 200. Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Online applications at www.ccpal.info/ See her cute video!!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Meet Dan, the world’s chillest 7-year-old mix who’s just here to live his best life (and maybe steal a few peanut butter jars along the way). Weighing in at a solid 66 lbs, Dan is a gentle giant with zero interest in fetch, but lots of love to give—especially if you’ve got a bully stick or a good belly rub handy. While other dogs might be out there playing tug-of-war, Dan prefers to sit back, relax, and keep an eye out for squirrels (he’s basically a professional squirrel spotter). He’s not into toys or playing with other dogs, but if you’re looking for a buddy to hang out with and just be a calm presence, he’s your guy. Dan is also a social butterfly in the best way—he’s great in public spaces like breweries and even at the office (yes, he’s totally the cool, laid-back coworker you’d love to have). He’s got the "sit" command down like a pro, walks nicely on a leash, and is excellent with kids and other dogs of all sizes. He’s a peaceful soul who’ll make a wonderful companion for anyone looking for a quiet, loyal sidekick. Oh, and did I mention? He barks at squirrels. Not to chase them—just to let them know he sees them. Dan’s just a guy with a lot of love, a knack for relaxation, and a serious squirrel-watching hobby. He is good with cats, dogs and kids.  He walks well on a leash and is just a great companion, especially if you’re into belly rubs!  If a gentle loving fella is what you’re looking for than look no further!
