You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee: $300 plus tax Friendly! Not treat motivated  No accidents No separation anxiety  Dwight would do best in an active home (His foster believes a home without younger children or another resident dog would be ideal) Loves to be outside  Goes on errands with his Foster like Home Depot runs and Petco visits One time Dwight saw a mannequin and nuzzled it's hand so it would 'pet' him - Cute!! Dwight would like everyone who sees him to say hi  Dwight is a handsome Great Pyrenees and Border Collie mix! He loves dog parks and playing outside, rolling in the grass. He will do well in a fenced property or farm. He is leash trained, muzzle trained, and crate trained, however, the door often remains open. He’s a quick learner. He’s a little over 2 years old and shy of 100 pounds. He knows no, wait, down, paw, gentle, bed, belly, “get it” to eat, and sit with many more things he’s still perfecting. He loves the butt scratches but when he is sleeping her prefers to be left alone. He can sometimes be a little protective of his chew bones or food. He doesn’t play fetch but he loves chasing a laser like a cat. He prefers humans to chase him as a way of playing. He came from a home with two adults and should not go to a home with children. He’s used to a more quiet space and doesn’t do very well with loud noises. He did a great job outside watching his previous owner in his work shop. He does a great job being an outside guard dog, that’s definitely the Great Pyrenees in him. He loves to work and play. He has a ton of energy.     Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. //

Story
Kit has been in rescue for over one year & celebrated her 2nd birthday (9/29) by showing foster mom a new trick. She is almost always the first one to come in when called. This is a huge milestone because she was so skittish when arriving into rescue that she would run away anytime she was approached or called to come in. She now has a perfect routine after 18 months, but it has been slow progress.  She loves getting pets & has been enjoying belly rubs as of recent. Kit loves other dogs but tends to be very dominant and a little snappy when meeting new dogs for the first time. She would be fine with a dog that is less dominant or with a patient alpha, who will gently show her who’s in charge. She would also be fine as an only dog. She absolutely loves puppies & is very gentle, so the perfect scenario may be that she is the first dog & another is added at some point. She cannot be around small animals, such as birds, cats, or chickens, as her prey drive is HIGH. We have chickens & she’s gotten into them this summer with unfortunate outcomes for the chickens. She definitely needs a fenced yard because her absolute favorite thing to do is run! She will frolic & play for as long as she can. She loves long walks, soft toys & sleeping on the couch or in bed. She doesn’t need to be kenneled although when she is in new places, she may chew on things she is not supposed to, such as socks, pillows, and cushions. She has not done this in a very long time but it is a nervous response for her. She would love a home where she could have more one on one attention as she doesn’t ask for much.  Due to her cautious nature, older, respectful kids would be best. She will take time and patience to adjust to a new environment but when she does the little things will reward you tenfold. She's been in rescue long enough and would love a home of her own!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $525.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 5:33 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Did I catch your eye? Learn more about me by reading my profile below; I just might be your new best friend! Apply on our website ( https://www.healingheartsrescue.org/adopt )  to  set up a private meeting or check below for my adoption event schedule.   Age: Approximately 2 years old Weight: 73 lbs Dog friendly:  Limited experience with other dogs while in foster home; previous owner reported dog park visits and play with a large breed neighbor dog. Cat friendly:  Unknown/not tested Kid friendly:  Yes, older considerate kids only Potty trained:  Yes Crate trained:  Working on it - does not like the crate, slowly warming up to the crate with crate games but door has not shut yet **PHYSICAL FENCE REQUIRED** Meet Ruby GB!!! Ruby is two year old bernedoodle that encompasses all of the breed traits. She presents as a bit more Bernese Mountain Dog than Poodle in terms of personality. She is exuberant, goofy, and joyful. She has eyes that will melt your heart and a sweet, funny gentle soul in a “bull in the china shop” body.  Despite being two, Ruby still has a bit of a puppy brain and temperament in a very strong 73 lb body.   Ruby has so many amazing traits.  She rides well in the car, she sleeps through the night on a dog bed beside the big bed, she rarely barks, and her introduction to new dogs is one of calm curiosity,  She is an excellent tennis ball catcher and returner, she loves her fluffy babies, she has yet to shred a toy and her foster dad says she is getting better at catching the frisbee everyday.  Ruby can be left free in the house (she does not yet trust a crate) for up to four hours reliably. Frozen soft dog food on her lick mat is her favorite and she knows that when the special treat comes out, that her people are leaving and that they will come back. She has demonstrated some interest in “people food” when her foster mom and dad prep meals but she puts herself in an adjacent room and rests calmly while they eat. Ruby is potty trained and has had zero accidents during her time in foster care.  Ruby is extremely food motivated and enjoys training sessions fueled by repetition, praise, and treats. She learns like a puppy and benefits from repeated short training sessions with high success and frequent rewards. She knows “sit”,  “down”, “touch”, “easy” and is learning “stand” and “wait”.  Her “wait” is up to 30 seconds within line of sight.  She is working on loose leash walking and is understanding that slack in the line=more walk/more sniffs/more treats/more praise.  She loves pets and is a champion couch snuggler. Seriously, if couch snuggling was an Olympic sport Ruby would be a gold medalist.  She will lean in for a hug and drape her body across your lap to get just a little closer.  Ruby GB, like all of us, is a work in progress.  Her greatest challenge is containing her joy when reuniting with you after you both have been apart.  She is a powerful jumper and may have difficulty inhibiting nipping in moments of intense excitement or joy.  She is working on “easy” in high excitement situations and taking treats with no teeth even when super excited or happy.  She is working on “four on the floor”(all paws on the ground) and pattern games with a high value treat has helped her understand that no jumps=sooner pets.  She gets better everyday. Her forever family will recognize and understand her sweet sensitive soul and offer patience, kindness, consistency, structure, and predictability.  They will need to continue to help Ruby learn and remind her she is safe.  They will need to help Ruby continue to develop her confidence and overcome some of her fears. She is cautious with some men and may need extra assurance that hands are only for pets, connecting leashes for walkies, and treats. Gates, doors, and thresholds, are still at times a source of uncertainty but each positive encounter is an opportunity to learn predictability and safety.  A commitment to ongoing positive reinforcement training and additional support for teaching Ruby about how to settle and be calm are essential.  If you choose to invest in loving and learning with this dog you will be rewarded with more joy than your heart can hold.   Adoption Fee: $795Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.INTERESTED IN MEETING ME? Additionally, our assessments of a dog's interactions with other dogs, cats, or children are based on OUR experiences. Your experience may differ.   ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES: Wellness check Spay/neuter (puppies adopted with required spay/neuter certificate) Age appropriate vaccines - rabies and distemper combo  Heartworm test if over 7 months of age Fecal test and/or deworming for parasites Microchip &#226&#128&#139 ~ Healing Hearts rescue will also provide dental procedures, bloodwork, surgeries, and/or any other additional vet work as needed while dogs are in our care. &#226&#128&#139~ Adoption fees are non-negotiable and fees are listed on the dog's profile ~ Adoption fees can be paid the following ways with the required sales tax added: Credit Card via Zeffy Cash WANT TO HELP SAVE MORE DOGS?   Healing Hearts Rescue is a nonprofit, foster-based rescue  located in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota  that  is 100% funded through adoption fees and donations .  We are excited for you to join us on this mission to save the lives of dogs in need.   We believe every dog deserves to be loved as true members of a family and are committed to fulfilling that dream one dog at a time!
