Story
Tygrys had a Birthday party!!!! My name is Tygrys, but everyone calls me Tyg! According to my kennel guy's free app, I'm mostly Anatolian Shepherd and Belgian Malinois! I am a big, handsome boy; just look at my pictures and see for yourself. I get a lot of attention both at the kennel and on field days when my guy takes me to the park and then Starbucks for my weekly pup cup! I came to GRRAND in 2019 as a cute little puppy and was quickly adopted by a sweet couple. Life was good, but my owners split up 4 yrs after taking me home and my mom went to live with a family member whose dogs didn’t like me so in June they drove me back to GRRAND from Wisconsin, so they could be sure nothing bad would happen to me. My GRRAND people are learning about my breed mix; I'm definitely NOT a Golden Retriever. I love to work and to protect my family. I constantly patrol the kennel fence line to make sure all the other pups and kennel volunteers are safe. I will bark at strangers or dogs I don't know. I'm not crazy about UPS, Amazon, or any van for that matter. I'm happy to be outside, but of course, I also love being indoors with my person. I'm extremely loyal. I love all my people at the kennel. I will try and squeeze my 105 lbs body on a chair with them for hugs and kisses. I let them dress me up and I never complain . I am very well trained and walk great on a leash (until that pesky UPS van goes by). I know a lot of commands and like showing off my skills. In the summer I loved my daily swim in the GRRAND pool! I tolerate most dogs and I'm buddies with Ross, but I really don't like to share my people, so I can't be in a home with other dogs. I'll let you into a secret; my kennel guy tells me that Penny and I are his favorites! I love him too, but it's time for me to leave the kennel. Like I said earlier, I'm not a Golden Retriever, but I really hope just the right family is out there looking for a big loveable, protective pup like me. GRRAND trainers have promised me that they will educate the right family on how to handle a breed like mine. COME MEET ME! Love Tyg XOXO Tygrys is a 5 year old, 100lb, Great Pyrenees-Anatolian mix. This handsome guy was adopted from GRRAND when he was saved from a kill shelter at 3 months old, and his family has had some life changes that have sadly resulted in them making the hard decision to turn him back into GRRAND.  We are told by his current owner's, that he is a sweet boy, is house-trained and seems to have the Guardian Dog protecting the house tendencies, as at night he likes to roam from room to room to keep watch and make sure everything is ok. They say he gets along with other dogs, but has had some issues with some other dogs he used to live with who didn't accept him in the pack so he is seemingly dog selective. He was out in the play yard with Cookie and Noelle at the kennel and they all had a good time together! He is new to a foster home and his foster parents used a few adjectives: "loyal, sweet, attentive, protector, wants to please, has serious side of his personality but does relax".  They are also doing all they can to get him out to socialize and walk him, and we will update as they tell us more! This is what the kennel staff says about Tig "We love him at the kennel! He has been well-trained and walks perfectly. He loves to lay out in the play yard, watch over the kennel, and play in the pool. When he comes into the office he will curl up in one of the beds and rest; you don't even know he's there. The kennel manager has taken him on field trips to the park and a brewery, and reported that he's perfect! He is so handsome and gets a lot of attention, which he laps up! He was out in the play yard with Cookie and Noelle and they all had a good time together!  Tig does need a yard to play in and we've learned that once he gets to know his person he will protect them, even against other dogs, so even though he can be around other dogs outside, he needs to be the only dog in the home". If you would like to meet this cool guy, please fill out an application at GRRAND.org ##1734296##

Story
This is Joker-now AKA Joey... A Great Pyrenees When this poor pup came to the kennel on August 2nd, 2023 he was 6 weeks old, and absolutely terrified. He came in with his 11 siblings, but was by far the most fearful. We are happy to report, he is doing great in his foster home!!! This guy... he has blossomed in his foster home! Here is what his foster parents have to say…. We’ve now had Joey for over a month. He is opening up more every day. Our dogs have seemed to really help with his confidence so it’s best he go to a home with another confident, stable, sweet dog who can help Joey build his OWN confidence from, and who can show him the ropes.. Not sure how he is around cats, but on our walks when he sees one he’s not interested. When going outside he loves doing his rounds and makes sure to alert us if he hears anything. He is super sweet and loves to put his paws right on me for pets and cuddles! UPDATE 2-27 on Joey from his foster family "He’s settling in nicely after just about a week with his foster family. His favorite thing to do is to pull all of his toys out and try and pick apart the soft toys. He doesn’t chew on anything he’s not supposed to, has had no accidents in the house, and walks well on a leash. His personality is starting to come out and he is so sweet, someone out there will be lucky to have him"! 'Joey' needs a loving, calm and most importantly, a patient home where someone is home more often than not, and who can spend time with him to help him build trust. Interested applicants should expect Joey to be big, and you should be prepared for that sweet and independent Great Pyrenees personality... to know the Great Pyr breed is to love them, but they are not Goldens, and we suggest you do some research on this beautiful breed before applying! He will need a secure above ground fenced yard as Great Pyrs love to be in their yard to protect and patrol, and this happens best when they are in a secure space! Can you help this sweet, shy boy learn how to become a confident, happy dog? If interested in meeting Joey, please fill out an app at GRRAND.org ##1787643##

Story
Hi! I'm Callie. I'm a gorgeous 2+ years old Pyrenees/Lab mix! I arrived at the kennel in late October, so I haven't been there too long. I've had a hard time over the last year. I was a stray for most of that time. A friendly postal worker noticed me and kept an eye on me. Eventually she and another good samaritan trapped me and took me in while they found a great rescue for me to come to. Of course I was very scared and intimidated when I first arrived at GRRAND. I would curl up in the corner of my kennel and not want to come out. But the kennel volunteers would sit with me in my run for hours, calmly petting and reassuring me that everything was about to get so much better - and they were right. Now I get to run and play with a ton of dogs in the play yard. I have so many new friends. I willingly go to the volunteers now for love and treats. We even go walking off-site and they tell me how wonderful I am on a leash. I get to sleep in a nice warm kennel with a blanket. I get two meals a day and as many treats as I can convince the vols to give me. It's so much better than living alone in deserted structures and dumpster diving for food! So I've come a really long way. I'm liking other dogs, trusting people and starting to enjoy life indoors! I think it's time for the next stage of my life where I can move in with a loving family. Could you help get me out of the kennel and into your loving family? I hope so! Callie was initially very scared and withdrawn, but with lots of love and attention from our awesome volunteers, she is starting to come out of her shell.  She is very calm and sweet. Our vet thinks she's around 2.5 years old. She loves to play with most other dogs in the play yards, as long as they are calm and laid-back. We also have her walking on a leash and she's doing wonderfully. She loves to be gently petted.  She is still a little timid with people she doesn't know, but warms as soon as she trusts you.  Until Callie is settled in a home she is going to be a flight risk, so she does need a secure fenced yard. She can scale a 4' fence, so ideally the home will have a 6' privacy fence.  She can go with another calm dog. As she is a flight risk pup she will not be able to go in a home with children under 13. We don't know how she does with cats. She does not mess in her kennel run, which is a decent indication she is house trained, but not a guarantee. Her energy level is moderate to low.  Callie is now ready for her next step, to go to a home, either foster or adoptive. Please fill out an app at GRRAND.org if you would like to meet her! ##1854181##
