Zen is a 6-year-old male Neo Mastiff mix who’s as big-hearted as he is big in stature. Rescued from a shelter after his previous owners surrendered him for being “too big,” Zen is now on the hunt for his forever home where he can truly shine. Zen is a sweet, playful giant with a lot of energy for his breed. He’s very intelligent and learns quickly, making him a joy to train. However, Zen prefers to be the only dog in the home; he can get jealous and aggressive with other dogs, wanting all the attention for himself. When he's your one and only, he’s incredibly loving and will shower you with affection. Though he’s not reactive to other dogs on leash, Zen does best in a home without canine companions. He appreciates careful introductions to new people, especially those who approach unexpectedly. Zen’s ideal owner will be someone experienced with his breed and capable of continuing his training and socialization. If you’re ready to welcome a devoted and energetic companion into your life, Zen could be the perfect fit. Hi – they call me Bubas.  I spent 4 months in a shelter.  They named me Bubas. I checked out of the vet with a clean bill of health, but they recommended some meds for fear and anxiety.  You see, I was found wandering the streets, so I have a very mysterious background – my little secret.  But I can tell you this:  I am scared of a lot of things, especially men and strangers.  Strange Men are the Worst.    I have latched on to Foster Mom and will not leave her side – I don’t growl at Foster Dad anymore, so that’s a bit of progress. I enjoy playing with other dogs and my toys.  I’m good with middle aged to older kids, but the little ones have as much energy as I do and they make me a bit nervous.  Besides, I’m big enough to knock them down when I’m just trying to play with them. I am slowly learning manners and commands and getting better with time.  I’m learning to walk on a harness and leash – regular collars make me alligator roll to get out of them.  I am house trained and crate trained. Here is my idea of the perfect home:  Great Dane Experience, female only household, my people to be home more than not, lots of patience and love, another big dog to pal around with and whom I can learn from,  interest in helping me to learn how to bring out the Awesomeness that is inside of me, and some more love.  Please fill out an application and ask for me.November 6, 2024, 3:48 pm

Special Needs:  Daily heart medication ($18 per month) Kevin’s photos say so much about his past.  It is clear this boy has been let down before but we at RMGDRI want to help turn things around and provide the love and medical care Kevin deserves.  We are in need of a special foster family willing to support his recovery.  Because we have limited information on Kevin, the ideal home will have no other dogs or cats.  We will consider older, dog savvy teenagers but given limited history, a home with children is not ideal. Like most shelter surrenders, we have limited information on Kevin.  We know based on a vet examination, he will have significant health needs.  We as a rescue will cover his medical care.  We need a loving foster home that has the ability to take him to doctor appointments as needed and provide whatever medical care is required in the home.  We would like to get him out of the shelter as soon as possible.  Kevin will likely remain on medical hold (foster) status with the rescue due to his health needs. More about Kevin: Intact Male (Will be neutered by RMGDRI when medically cleared) House-trained unknown Create trained unknown No children (We have limited history on Kevin) Friendly to people / visitors No dogs (unknown history, shows some reactivity at shelter) No cats (unknown history, shows some reactivity at shelter) Fenced backyard required (unknown leash skills) Giant Breed Experience required due to history; Experience with medical / hospice needs preferred December 3, 2024, 5:36 pm

Hi there!  Mortimer here, checking in after arriving in Colorado! Im between 1 and 2 years old (no one ever told me my real birthday so the nice doctor at the vet's office took a guess) and the rescue people asked me to tell you a little bit about myself. I love tug of war!  I figured i would start with that since its really important that my new home like to play that with me.  I also like to play with other dogs, but can get a little scared if they are super loud and in my face at first.  I am "crate-trained" whatever that means, and enjoy these things called "leash walks" where i get to go out and smell and see new things.  My foster parents say that i have decent leash "manners". I've seen a cat a few times, and wasn't overly interested in it, but i have never lived with one, so I don't know how i would feel about that. I ended up in Colorado after someone dumped me in a very rural part of new Mexico.  A nice lady there found me and gave me food and water and shelter which was very nice, but she couldn't keep me so she found some nice people in Colorado to help me find a new forever home!  If i sound like the kind of dog you would like to hang out with fill out the application below and be sure to mention my name!
