Story
Zen is a 6-year-old male Neo Mastiff mix who’s as big-hearted as he is big in stature. Rescued from a shelter after his previous owners surrendered him for being “too big,” Zen is now on the hunt for his forever home where he can truly shine. Zen is a sweet, playful giant with a lot of energy for his breed. He’s very intelligent and learns quickly, making him a joy to train. However, Zen prefers to be the only dog in the home; he can get jealous and aggressive with other dogs, wanting all the attention for himself. When he's your one and only, he’s incredibly loving and will shower you with affection. Though he’s not reactive to other dogs on leash, Zen does best in a home without canine companions. He appreciates careful introductions to new people, especially those who approach unexpectedly. Zen’s ideal owner will be someone experienced with his breed and capable of continuing his training and socialization. If you’re ready to welcome a devoted and energetic companion into your life, Zen could be the perfect fit. He’s looking for a loving home where he can be the center of attention and enjoy all the love he has to give!

Story
For more information about this Dane, please visit our website at https://rmgreatdane.org. Adoption Applications link can be found on the home page. Hi – they call me Bubas.  I spent 4 months in a shelter.  They named me Bubas. I checked out of the vet with a clean bill of health, but they recommended some meds for fear and anxiety.  You see, I was found wandering the streets, so I have a very mysterious background – my little secret.  But I can tell you this:  I am scared of a lot of things, especially men and strangers.  Strange Men are the Worst.    I have latched on to Foster Mom and will not leave her side – I don’t growl at Foster Dad anymore, so that’s a bit of progress. I enjoy playing with other dogs and my toys.  I’m good with middle aged to older kids, but the little ones have as much energy as I do and they make me a bit nervous.  Besides, I’m big enough to knock them down when I’m just trying to play with them. I am slowly learning manners and commands and getting better with time.  I’m learning to walk on a harness and leash – regular collars make me alligator roll to get out of them.  I am house trained and crate trained. Here is my idea of the perfect home:  Great Dane Experience, female only household, my people to be home more than not, lots of patience and love, another big dog to pal around with and whom I can learn from,  interest in helping me to learn how to bring out the Awesomeness that is inside of me, and some more love.  Please fill out an application and ask for me.November 6, 2024, 3:48 pm

Story
For more information about this Dane, please visit our website at https://rmgreatdane.org. Adoption Applications link can be found on the home page. Loki was recently saved from a breeder where he lived outdoors and was used as a stud. (We believe Loki may have Mastiff / Dane).  A guardian human angel rescued Loki and brought her into her home where he is temporarily living with 7 special needs dogs.  This amazing person has had Loki neutered and brought up to date on shots.  She has reached out to Rocky Mountain Great Dane Rescue to find a foster or foster-to-adopt home for sweet Loki. Loki has started house training and is staying indoors while he recovers from his neuter.  He a smart and learning new commands.  So far Loki has picked up on “sit” lay”.  Pretty impressive in such a short amount of time!  He is thriving with the attention.  Loki is described as playful, friendly, a clown and still has happy puppy in him.  He has good, moderate energy.  Prior to his surrender, he lived in a home with 4 children where it was reported he got along well with the kiddos. The ideal home for Loki:  A Giant Breed experienced home to show Loki what the Great Dane good life looks like!  Someone who will be patient and continue to work on all aspects of training, including walking on a leash and other day to day “Daning” indoors. Loki is a fast learner and has a wonderful temperament.  We believe in the right home with lots of love, this big boy will thrive! Thank you to Loki’s guardian angel, he is one step closer to living an amazing life – was Loki meant to find you? Story
For more information about this Dane, please visit our website at https://rmgreatdane.org. Adoption Applications link can be found on the home page. Special Needs: Giant Breed experience required “Once lonely in Utah – Now Seeking His Forever Home” Hi — my name is Bruno and I’m seeking a loving forever home.  I was once lonely in Utah, found as a stray, wondering the streets and quite malnourished.  Some humans got me off the street but it was all quite scary.  Their resident dog made me feel threatened so I couldn’t stay there.  I was dropped off at a Utah shelter.  This was definitely rough on me.  It was good to be off the streets but I kept hearing humans say “my days were almost up.” Then along came Rocky Mountain Great Dane Rescue, Inc.   An amazing RMGDRI foster family picked me up and brought me home.  They told me I was safe and wanted to help me find the people I was meant to be with. I can come across a bit gruff at first when you meet me.   But that’s not really me.  It’s my defense mechanisms kicking in because of so much uncertainty in my past life.  Once I get to know you  I am super affectionate and a bit of a couch potato.  I also love going on car rides with my humans.  I am happiest when I can catch some rays in lay in the sun.  It sure feels good just lounging like a lazy Dane! As my defenses melt away, my heart just gets bigger. I have some things to work on:  I will jump up on people at times – I’m told this is not OK and I am improving.  I can also react to other people on a leash.  I didn’t have much leash training before finding my foster home and I have definitely learning each day.  Someone new coming to the home can also make me nervous.  A confident human teaching me strangers can be OK and I am still safe will go a long way.  I have mastered my “sits”, improved on accidents in the home and am getting accustomed to crate training.  I think I am what you may call a diamond in the rough.  Once smoothed and polished, I will shine bright and be a faithful and grateful boy for my forever family.  Are you willing to give me a chance? More about Bruno: Neutered and gastropexy* Male (*Gastropexy is an elective surgery that helps prevent bad outcomes from a condition called bloat) Working on crate training; will counter surf if left unattended House trained with occasional accident No cats. Cats unknown – likely prey drive No dogs. Dogs unknown No small children. Children unknown – Recommend 14 years and up given lack of history Needs work on leash skills Loving and affectionate Big cuddler Great Dane experience required given lack of known history of Bruno.
