Story
My family and I adopted Beau from Austin Animal Center 2 years ago. He is a 3 year old mixed breed, resembling a lab, who loves walks, hanging out in the sun, and cuddling on the couch. He had been getting along great with our other dog, a mini-Aussie, before we introduced 2 kittens into the home. Beau had gotten on well with our old cat who passed last year, but the energy of 2 kittens and a 7 year old human in our small house has proven to be too much for him. We want the best for our dog, Beau, and after much careful deliberation have decided to seek out the quiet home that he deserves where he is the main attraction. He is fully housebroken, crate trained, and he knows a few tricks: sit, down, sit up, stand up, spin, shake, and touch (place). He does great with people when he is out and about, and he loves going to the pet store to try out beds and sniff the shelves. He's a good boy who needs a calmer environment to shine.

He is a very loving dog who always wants to be cuddling and lay right next to you. He has a lot of energy and loves to run and play. He can also be very lazy and want to just lay and look out the window. He gets excited around other dogs and just wants to play but sometimes can be very excited around others. Otherwise he is sweet and cuddly and just wants to play and get scratches and cuddles

Story
Her life-long human is in hospice & sweet Rennie needs a retirement home! Rennie is 15, 43 lbs, with a sociable nature. She is friendly with adult humans & when younger was a very energetic dog (sometimes dog reactive); she’s now calmer & quieter. She’s on a low-protein diet for early-stage kidney disease (large quantity provided). She still enjoys short walks & healthy snacks, & loves being around people. Her crate is her cozy refuge. Because of the kidney disease Rennie needs to have opportunities to pee every few hours (at night she can go up to 6 hours). She's had consistent veterinary care & is up to date on her shots. Rennie comes with her crate, new bed, special food, leash & harness, & heartworm pills. She has stayed calm & friendly despite many changes & new folks in the house; we think she will do well with new people. She will enjoy living with adults (no young children), & will need to be the only animal in the home. Can you give this sweet old girl a happy new home?

Story
Meet Willa! We have made the difficult decision to rehome our recently adopted dog through no fault of her own, due to family issues. Willa is a beautiful, playful love bug who is estimated to be around 2 years old and a Pointer mix. We adopted her in November from the Austin Animal Center where she became a volunteer favorite and roomed with several other dogs during her time there. We have no idea what her life was before AAC, but we do know she is crate and house trained, is gentle with our young child and respectful of our older chihuahua. She is smart, knows sit, paw, and touch. She needs some guidance and patience to learn not to jump on her people or counters, and she has understandably not been able to settle down at times as she decompresses. We think an experienced dog owner or a family with another dog to show her the ropes of your home would be ideal for her. She is 41 lbs, was spayed in May 2024, is up to date on shots and flea/tick/heartworm prevention.

Story
Milkbones (or Bones for short) seeks out snuggle time! He is bright, young, and should be easier to train for someone with the time. He is housebroken and knows simple commands. He needs help with leash walking. He is neutered, heart worm negative and fully vaccinated. We would have loved to keep him. Unfortunately we already have 3 senior dogs and he does show signs of resource guarding. We are hoping for someone who is energetic, will train him, who loves snuggles.

Story
Needing to re home my 1yr old heeler mix. She is super sweet to people and very energetic. We are rehoming her due to her starting to attack my other dog we unfortunately just don't have the time to work through this with her. She is dog reactive so a house with no other dogs is ideal. She lives with cats and seems good with them just a little too wild. I unfortunately can't keep her much longer and I don't want to take her to a shelter. She is up to date on all vaccinations and is spayed.

Story
My family found Crowley on the side of the road being chased by a man with a metal pipe at roughly 5 weeks of age. He is now 3 years old and has been with our family ever since; We've loved him and all his quirks, as he's a sweet dog who is incredibly playful and, most importantly, loves ice cubes. However, his owner came to the conclusion that we cannot give him what he needs, and the owner of our home told us that Crowley needs to be gone before the end of the month (12/31/2024). This was because of an incident where Crowley seemed to 'snap' and attack one of the dogs he's grown up with. In the fight, he accidentally bit my leg. He has NOT shown any aggression towards me, or anyone else, since, only the one dog! He's even still friendly with our other two dogs, and our cats, but I'm worried that could change like it did with the one dog. Crowley is VERY kind and quirky, though he has a bad habit of getting onto counters. He's the biggest cuddlebug as well!

Story
Tasha has been a fantastic family dog, easy-going and good tempered. She is patient and gentle with our little one climbing on her and dressing her up. She loves kids and gets so excited when our kids have friends over. She loves attention, likes to cuddle, and sometimes thinks she is a lap dog. She is food/treat motivated and sleeps in a crate at night. She is pretty chill but loves to play fetch and play on the trampoline with the kids. (She can jump really high, so careful of low fences!) Even though she has no anxiety with kids, she has pretty high anxiety with adults and other animals. She is defensive, but not aggressive with new adults, but has shown aggression to other dogs. She has always been the "alpha" between her and her brother but they've always gotten along well, until recently. They've had a few fights and we feel she would be happier in a single dog home where she doesn't have to compete for attention. She may take time to open up but she is a great dog!

Story
Chief is generally a loving cuddler. Loves nothing more then being in someone's space. He does not bark unless there is an issue. Chief is 4 yr old lab/Redbone coonhound mix. However, he is terrified of new people especially males and reacts with aggression. He is also an escape artist in search of threats to protect you from. He needs someone patient and experienced in behavior issues.

Story
We got her from a pet smart adoption fair. She was only a little over year and half. She was very kind and sweet right off the bat. Took her home and she instantly started to get along with our cat. She has a wonderful personality for a dog. But after the 6 months of having we have realized she needs a home with more space, Time, and energy. She has an abundance of energy and is great with dogs and cats. Is incredibly sweet. She is crate trained but if she had the chance she would sleep with you at any chance she could get. As much as she can go run and play she can also hang out! A a big one is she barely barks. She’ll go days with out barking. So she is great for a quiet community. But if she could go to a home with a yard and possibly another dog would be amazing!

Story
We got Tucker as a puppy. We recently had moved into the country and were looking for a dog for our kids to play with and to look out for us. We were told he is a black mouth cur, but DNA testing showed he was a village dog or mixed breed. He's high energy and high spirited dog, about two years old, up to date with vaccines, flea and worm medicine, and has been neutered. We just don't have the capacity to keep up with him anymore. We lack a yard fence and Tucker loves to explore. He's been sweet to our kids and us, he is our only pet and has not been around a lot of other people or animals. We have tried to keep him corralled on our property w/ GPS collars of different variety and dog runs, he's always outsmarted or outpowered our methods and is in danger of traffic or neighboring animals, such as our neighbors horse. He does get amped up around loud motors, like mowers, weed eaters etc. and will try to bite them. He's best kept contained until all the work is completed.
