COURTESY LISTINGThis dog is a courtesy listing (not in the AARF program) but we will be reviewing applications and helping the owner find the right home for ROO. Please visit http://aarf-tn.com/adopt/adoption-app/ to apply. Introducing Roo: Your Energetic and Affectionate Companion! Roo is a 2 1/2-year-old Mountain Cur weighing approximately 50lbs. This handsome pup is bursting with energy, always ready for an adventure. However, when he's seeking affection, he knows how to switch into a calm and loving mode. One of the most endearing qualities about Roo is his love for affection and his favorite pastime—running and doing zoomies in the yard! You'll find yourself charmed by his playful antics and infectious joy. Watching him fetch and play with toys is an absolute delight. Roo is a well-trained dog who knows commands such as sit, wait, place, and kennel. He recently completed a 30-day in-board training, demonstrating his eagerness to learn and please his human companions. If needed, his caregivers are more than willing to cover the cost of additional training to ensure a smooth transition into your home. When it comes to manners, Roo is house-trained and has excellent crate behavior. He understands the cue to kennel up and is comfortable spending time in his crate. You won't have to worry about any accidents or destructive behavior. Roo enjoys playing fetch, spending time with his favorite toys, and socializing with other dogs. His friendly nature makes him an ideal playmate for canine pals of all sizes. Although he hasn't been around cats, livestock, or many children, he may be tempted to give chase to small creatures out of playfulness. From a medical standpoint, Roo is in excellent health, with no known concerns. Roo has shown compatibility with dogs and adults; however, he may need some time to warm up to new people. Slow introductions and a gentle approach are key to helping him feel comfortable. He walks well on a leash and rides calmly in the car, making him a great companion for outings and adventures. This sweet and intelligent boy thrives in an understanding and loving home. He's eager to continue learning, and his caregivers believe he would benefit from activities like swimming, as he showed great interest and enthusiasm during his encounters with the pool. If you're seeking a loyal and fun-loving companion who will keep you active and entertained, Roo is the perfect match. Story
Ollie is estimated to be about 8 months old (9-24). We sure think he looks like a Mountain Cur. This breed is considered rare but are quite common in South. His foster reports that is much calmer and more gentle than expected. He is great puppy manners! The Mountain Curs are well-loved family dogs who thrive in the right environment, getting along great with kids and other dogs. Their high energy levels make them best suited for an active family where ample exercise and mental stimulation will be provided. Mountain Curs are known for their intelligence, tenacity, and high energy levels. Thanks to their history of working side-by-side with pioneers, they have a strong work ethic and thrive when given a job to do.Their short, dense coat requires minimal grooming, making them a relatively low-maintenance breed. However, their high energy levels mean they need regular exercise and mental stimulation to keep them happy and healthy. Mountain Cur dogs do best in a home with an active, outdoorsy family who spends their weekends hiking, hunting, or just hanging out in their fenced-in yard. This dog is sheltered in a foster based, nonprofit rescue. The Adoption Fee Includes Age-Appropriate Vaccinations (DA2PPV, Bordetella, Rabies), Deworming, Spay/Neuter, Microchip, Flea, Tick and Heartworm Treatment and Prevention, and Sheltering.
