Hi, I’m Cardi! I’m a playful and independent dog who loves to have fun. I enjoy entertaining my human and canine friends alike. I’m a silly and fun-loving dog who likes to play and interact with other dogs. I’m always ready to make new friends and have a good time. I love playing tug-of-war or chase with my furry buddies. But don’t worry, I’m not clingy or needy. I also like to do my own thing sometimes, like chewing on my favorite toys or exploring new places. My love of toys is unmatched, and I'll happily spend hours playing with them, chasing them around or snuggling up with them at nap time. I’m not afraid of being alone, but I’m always happy to see you when you are around. I’m a smart dog who knows how to sit and wants to learn more. I’m also potty-trained and walk well on a leash, so you can take me anywhere you want. I love going on walks or hikes with you. I have a lot of good energy and will need exercise, but I also love to cuddle and nap with you after a long day. I’m looking for an active family who loves to play and spend time outdoors. I would love to have some doggy siblings too, as long as they are friendly and playful like me. I’m not picky about the size or breed of my new family, as long as they have a lot of love and patience for me. I’m a 2-year-old, 45 lb., terrier mix. I have been vaccinated, am heartworm negative and am up to date on vaccines. If you think I’m the perfect dog for you, please fill out an application today and ask for Cardi! Meet Reba! Reba was living as a stray in Jellico along with Waylon for approx 3 yrs. Shes so glad to be in rescue w creature comforts and regular meals. Very affectionate and grateful little girl! Reba loves car rides, leash walks and a chance to run and play. She lives a comfy bed! Shes housebroken and crate trained. She will need a fence higher than 4 feet tall. Reba loves Waylon and would like to adopt with him but would prefer more to have a home with people who love and adore her. She has successfully completed her heartworm treatment and is on preventative. Shes been spayed (previously had at least 3 litters with Waylon). Her name is Bella. She’s a 10 month old Mountain Cur. She is potty trained and crate trained. She loves people and is great with kids and other dogs. She’s never been around a cat. She loves to walk and run and as you can see from the video she loves to play with/chew on sticks. She also loves her ball! She is playful and energetic and would love a good fenced yard to run and play in! She has also been on a couple of coon hunting trips and is beginning to learn that as well. Ginger was found as a stray and her owners were never found. She is very shy and unsure of the world around her, but is making progress. It does not seem that she was shown much love before she came to us, and we believe she was dumped along with her sister. We know as she gets comfortable, she will open up and be such a sweet girl. Ginger is looking for a forever home with someone who is kind and patient as she learns that she is safe and secure. Winning over the nervous ones always pays back tenfold! Ginger does well with other dogs, and would benefit from having another confident dog to show her the ropes! Ginger is currently being fostered in Ohio.

Story
Niles, aka Mr. Mittens, is a young dog who was at the country shelter for six months before coming to Misfit Mountain. He was basically feral, and the stress of the shelter was overwhelming for him. Luckily he has spent the last few months with The Sunshine Spot in Waynesville decompressing and is now ready to find his forever family! Niles loves other dogs, but is still working on his trust of new people. His front feet are deformed but this does not slow him down at all! His favorite thing to do is romp around the play yard with his friends. He has made significant progress towards housetraining and is even working on fetch! At about 30 pounds he is the perfect size! Niles will need a very special home that is willing to go slow with him. Perhaps someone who is familiar with skittish dogs, but mostly just someone with patience and understanding. After the amazing progress he has made in such a short time here with us, we know once he transitions into a home he will flourish.
