Story
This dog is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation $200 if picked up in TN, $275 plus transport fee for out-of-state adoptions. Meet Riviera, or Riva for short, a sweet and gentle 10-month-old Mountain Cur dog mix weighing 31 lbs. With a medium energy level, she enjoys playtime but also knows how to settle down and relax. She’s coming out of her shell more each day, despite being very timid when she was first rescued. One of the most endearing things about Riva is how happy she gets at mealtime! Her tail wags from side to side with pure joy. She’s learning to trust people and is eager to try new experiences. She loves playing with other dogs, chasing balls and Frisbees, and pulling the stuffing out of plush toys. A good chew or bully stick makes her day even better. Riva is housetrained and is crate trained, sleeping quietly through the night. She’s well-behaved in her crate and goes in willingly. She’s also picking up training and will “sit” for dinner, though without food, she’s still working on it! She walks wonderfully on a leash and is calm in the car, even laying comfortably during recent training sessions. Riva gets along well with other dogs and would thrive in a home with a canine companion. She is good with dog-savvy cats and has shown curiosity around livestock. With new people, she can be timid, but she is making great progress in building confidence. She would do best in a home with a fenced-in yard and a confident owner who can provide the calm leadership she needs. Riva doesn’t need pity, she needs understanding and encouragement to continue growing into the amazing dog she’s becoming. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s ready to bloom with the right guidance, Riva is the girl for you. Apply to adopt her today!    Interested in adopting? All canines over the age of 6 months have been tested for heartworm. All canines are put on heartworm prevention as soon as possible - this means dogs as soon as they are tested negative. Puppies are put on prevention immediately. All felines, regardless of age, have been tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV. Each animal receives a health check by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption. Anything else found will be treated by our organization prior to adoption. February 27, 2025, 4:18 pm

Story
Ollie is estimated to be about 10 months old (9-24). We sure think he looks like a Mountain Cur. This breed is considered rare but are quite common in South. His foster reports that is much calmer and gentler than expected. He is great puppy manners! The Mountain Curs are well-loved family dogs who thrive in the right environment, getting along great with kids and other dogs. Their high energy levels make them best suited for an active family where ample exercise and mental stimulation will be provided. Mountain Curs are known for their intelligence, tenacity, and high energy levels. Thanks to their history of working side-by-side with pioneers, they have a strong work ethic and thrive when given a job to do.Their short, dense coat requires minimal grooming, making them a relatively low-maintenance breed. However, their high energy levels mean they need regular exercise and mental stimulation to keep them happy and healthy. Mountain Cur dogs do best in a home with an active, outdoorsy family who spends their weekends hiking, hunting, or just hanging out in their fenced-in yard.FOCCAS is a foster based, non-profit rescue in Crossville, TN. The adoption fee Includes Age-Appropriate Vaccinations (DA2PPV, Bordetella, Rabies), Deworming, Spay/Neuter, Microchip, Flea/Tick/Heartworm Prevention, and Sheltering. Adult Dogs are Heartworm Tested and Treated as Needed. FOCCAS does not DNA test or guarantee breed. My adoption fee (if picked up locally in Crossville, Tennessee) is $275. If transport is needed, my adoption fee is $575 (out of state, East Coast, Great Lakes or New England regions). Thank You for Your Interest in Adopting a Canine Companion from Foccas-tn.org!
