Story
Remember our little pups that were found by some workers in a box in one of the harder hit areas after Helene hit - well they have grown and they are amazing puppies and they are ready to find a family to call their own and they are so deserving. A miracle literally that they survived and how I don't know, but they did and we took them under our wing . We believe they are Mountain Cur mixes - smart dogs that will be very loyal to some lucky family - we estimate he will be 50-60 pounds full grown (but again that is an estimate - we don't have a whole lot of information when pups are found in a box ) First up is Doc - look at this handsome boy - those eyes will melt your heart - We are estimating these pups were born around 9/1/24 - so at a very young age they went through a natural disaster and survived - He is a typical happy and healthy puppy - he loves kids and has been around a lot of farm animals and does well. Does well with other dogs and would benefit from having a playmate. He is doing well on housebreaking but of course as with any puppy - consistency is the key and he is doing great so when adopted if you stay consistent he will do great. Doc's adoption fee is $250.00 - this includes his vaccines he has already had and we cover the remaining puppy boosters (he will need 2 more) and we cover his Rabies vaccine at 4 months old, he has been dewormed twice, he is microchipped, and will start his monthly heartworm prevention this week and we provide 2 more months of this when he is adopted - we also cover his neuter and his bloodwork before he is neutered. If you are interested in adopting Doc - please go to our website www.boxerbuttsandothermutts.org and fill out one of our adoption applications - that is the first step - we do NOT set up any meet and greets until the application has been filled out and reviewed - we also require vet reference checks and a home visit. And we do not have a facility - all of our dogs are in private foster homes throughout Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina Lets find this boy the best home ever - he sure does deserve it

Story
Ginger was found as a stray and her owners were never found. She is very shy and unsure of the world around her, but is making progress. It does not seem that she was shown much love before she came to us, and we believe she was dumped along with her sister. We know as she gets comfortable, she will open up and be such a sweet girl. Ginger is looking for a forever home with someone who is kind and patient as she learns that she is safe and secure. Winning over the nervous ones always pays back tenfold! Ginger does well with other dogs, and would benefit from having another confident dog to show her the ropes! Ginger is currently being fostered in Ohio.

Story
Sadie was found as a stray and her owners were never found. She was very shy and shut down when she was initially rescued, and seemed to have never even seen a collar or leash before. She has been in foster and is absolutely blossoming into the sweetest girl! Sadie is on the small side, only about 25lbs. She does well with other dogs, and would greatly benefit from having another confident dog to show her the ropes! She does well in her crate and appreciates a safe quiet place of her own, but does enjoy to sleep in a bed. Sadie is a very smart working breed and needs enrichment or she can get bored! This will also help her confidence and to build a bond. When Sadie starts to open up, she is a very goofy pup. Sadie is looking for a forever home with someone who is kind and patient as she learns that she is safe and secure.

Story
Niles, aka Mr. Mittens, is a young dog who was at the country shelter for six months before coming to Misfit Mountain. He was basically feral, and the stress of the shelter was overwhelming for him. Luckily he has spent the last few months with The Sunshine Spot in Waynesville decompressing and is now ready to find his forever family! Niles loves other dogs, but is still working on his trust of new people. His front feet are deformed but this does not slow him down at all! His favorite thing to do is romp around the play yard with his friends. He has made significant progress towards housetraining and is even working on fetch! At about 30 pounds he is the perfect size! Niles will need a very special home that is willing to go slow with him. Perhaps someone who is familiar with skittish dogs, but mostly just someone with patience and understanding. After the amazing progress he has made in such a short time here with us, we know once he transitions into a home he will flourish. Did we mention his adopter will also receive 7 days of free boarding with The Sunshine Spot?! Reach out with any questions or to foster or adopt Niles!
